June 2011


News that Bangor boss Nev Powell has won the WP Manager of The Season award - again.
Quickly followed by the arrival of promising young Neath goalkeeper Lee Idzi and then goalscoring striker Kyle Wilson.
July 2011

Former Nantlle Vale midfielder RAF man Neil Thomas finally joins Bangor after years of being frustrated by logistical problems.
August 2011
No nonesense defender Shaun Pejic arrives at Farrar Road as midfielder Nicky Ward makes a surprise return to TNS.
Bangor host a youthful Manchester United side in a pre season friendly which is illuminated by a glorious strike from John Cofie which crashes into the Farrar End goal. City beat Llanelli 3-2 in the WP.
Work begins at Nantporth.

2011
The month begins with a 4-1 defeat of Afan Lido at Farrar Road and is closely followed by a 4-2 win at Airbus. However the mood is dampened by a 3-0 home loss to TNS who ride their luck - and some poor finishing - to record a flattering win.
City end the month with a 4-0 win over a very poor Newtown.
October
2011
October begins with a spirited 2-1 win at Bala Town.
City end the month with a 2-0 televised win at Aberystwyth who have goalkeeper Stephen Cann red carded in the opening stages.
Llanelli beat Bangor at Stebonheath in the Welsh Premier..

November
2011

City prove a point with a 4-3 win at Park Hall against full timers TNS as Dave Morley grabs a brace.
Midfielder Damien Allen arrives from Colwyn Bay but cannot play for the first team until the January window opens. A small fee was paid.
City beat Carmarthen 4-0 as midfielder Allen watches from the stand.
City end the month in disappointing fashion with a 2-1 league defeat at Newtown.
December
2011
December begins with a 4-2 home Welsh Cup exit against Llanelli for whom Rhys Griffiths scored a hatrick.
Bala are beaten at Farrar Road but sad news arrives that former blues boss Roy Rees has died in America.
City win 2-1 at Port Talbot despite having Mike Walsh sent off after ten minutes.

The month, the year and indeed a near century of football comes to an end - the last match at Farrar Road.
City beat Prestatyn 5-3 in an end to end thriller played before a crowd of 2500+.

January
2012
The new year began with a cavalier 5-0 drubbing of Prestatyn at Bastion Gardens.
With no further league matches to play attention drifted to goalkeeper Lee Idzi who decided to stay with Bangor rather than move to Australia. Paul Smith left the club so too Shaun Pejic who got married and moved to America.
The new ground at Nantporth was said to be just about finished.
February
2012
Bangor duly moved into Nantporth.
On 24th January 2012 the first fixture was played, a 6-1 win over Caernarfon Wanderers in the NWCFA Cup. A crowd of 1280 saw Chris Jones score the first ever goal at the new ground.
News quickly followed that midfieder Mike Walsh had departed for Aberystwyth whilst 'keeper Kyle Clancy had signed from Barrow.
After three straight league wins City again struggle with a draw and then a 5-1 defeat to Newtown in the Loosemores Cup.
March
2012

The month opens with successive 3-1 defeats at Nantporth against Neath and then TNS. In both the pattern is the same, trailing 3-0 at half time and clawing one back after the interval but to no avail. Successive crowds of 700+ go home disgruntled.
Is the new pitch too good? Too wide?
A 4-0 win at Prestatyn followed by a further disappointing draw against visitors Llanelli leave title hopes dimmed but not extinguished.
April
2012
Clear wins against Bala Town and Neath put City in with a chance of the title, all road lead to Park Hall but full timers TNS stamp all over championship dreams with a 5-0 scoreline that could have been worse. City regain some dignity with a NWCFA Cup Final defeat of Rhyl at Nantporth.
Peter Hoy makes his 200th Welsh Premier start for Bangor City - a club record.
May 2012
The season culminates in a melee of awards. Les Davies wins The Phil Stanley Player of The Season Award and BCFCSA Player of the Season whilst goalkeeper Lee Idzi picks up the Directors Player of The Season.
Flying winger Sion Edwards is The Citizens Choice Player of The Season.
City end the season having played just 41 games, the lowest in living memory, due to a combination of miserly (and repetitive) league fixtures and an early Welsh Cup exit.

June 2010

News filters through that Lee Hunt has moved on (to join Prestatyn) and Chris Jones has signed from Porthmadog.
Blues boss Nev Powell is announced as Welsh Premier League Manager of The Season for 2009-10.
Bangor are drawn to face Honka Espoo in the Europa League.
July 2010
Centre forward Alan Bull joins City from Cammell Laird FC.
An equaliser from new signing Chris Jones secures a one all draw for Bangor in Finland against Honka Espoo.
Sad news to follow with the death of former blues manager Ken Barnes.
A week after the away leg win City beat Honka 2-1 at The Racecourse with goals from Dave Morley and Chris Jones to send the blues into the next round. Unfortunately this culminates in an 8-2 clobbering in Portugal against Maritimo although goals from Nicky Ward and Eddie Jebb gave the travelling contingent something to cheer.
August 2010
Bangor bow out of Europe with a 2-1 home defeat to Maritimo (at Wrexham) and slide to a 10-3 aggregate loss. Alan Bull the blues scorer. The WP season - 12 clubs and all - kicks off at Farrar Road with a 2-1 defeat of big spending Neath thanks to goals from Dave Morley and Eddie Jebb.
More sad news as Bangor followers learn of the death of 1950s striker Jackie Hudson.
Three points, despite the late kick off, for Bangor at Bala, with Dave Morley, Chris Jones and Alan Bull on target in a 3-2 win.
The month ends with a 2-0 defeat of visitors Llanelli thanks to strikes from Dave Morley and Jamie Reed.

2010
Midfielder Matthew Hurdman leaves Farrar Road to team up with his former Wrexham coach Huw Griffiths at Cefn Druids.
Tom Dix arrives from Shrewsbury Town.

  "Nev was then invited to Cardiff by the FAW to attend the annual awards dinner and was presented with a "Services to Welsh Football Award" from Sky Sports journalist Bryn Law.
   And then to wrap things up Powell picked up The Trinity Mirror /Scottish Power Sports Champion for North Wales award before the weekend."
Bangor close the month with a twelth straight Welsh Premier win - a record for post war British football.

Bangor turn down a bid from York City for leading goalscorer Jamie Reed, then former blue Mark Smyth rejoins the club.
City fans are angered as an away fixture at Airbus is called off less than half an hour before kick off due to a frozen pitch.
December
2010
December and a week before Christmas heavy snow on the afternoon of Friday 17th force Bangor to pull out of the away fixture at Park Hall.

Goalkeeper Chris Oldfield signs, then on 6th January the news breaks that Jamie Reed has joined York City for an undisclosed five figure fee. Former Wigan youth striker Michael Jukes signs.
Midfielder Craig Garside nets late on as City win at Newtown. Then the rescheduled WP match at Park Hall ends 2-2.
The month ends with the arrival of former Shrewsbury defender Darren Moss.
February
2011
Bangor beat Haverfordwest in the Welsh Cup to set up a Quarter Final visit to Port Talbot.
The final ten fixtures finally get underway as City win 2-1 at Prestatyn with Dave Morley netting twice.
Bangor win 3-0 at Port Talbot to book a semi final spot against Connahs Quay (at Rhyl as it turns out).
March
2011
March is a nightmare month for City who manage on two points from four WP league fixtures.
It begins with a home defeat to Neath, a draw at Llanelli, a loss at Park Hall and finally a 2-2 draw at Port Talbot.
April
2011
The month ends with away wins at Llanelli and Neath and culminates in an amazing win against TNS at Farrar Road in front of a bumper crowd. A Peter Hoy long throw turned home by Craig Garside set the party in motion and things really got going when the final whistle blew. A first title in some fifteen years and one which establishes manager Nev Powell as an outstanding manager on top of the three successive Welsh Cup wins.
May 2011
News that Les Davies has won The Phil Stanley Award for the outstanding player in the Welsh Premier.
City lose the Welsh Cup Final 4-1 to Llanelli at Parc Y Scarlets.
Midfield general Dave Morley is The Citizens Choice Player of The Season
Finally news that Mike Walsh has rejoined the club after returning from Cyprus.

June 2009

Christian Seargeant leaves for TNs but better news as Ashley Stott [LEFT] resigns from Halifax and the highly experienced Dave Morley arrives.
Mid June and it gets as Mark Smyth returns to Farrar Road then news that City have drawn Honka Espoo of Finland in the UEFA Cup. City sign leftback Chris Roberts from Rhyl.
July 2009
Bangor lose 2-0 away and 1-0 at home to Honka Espoo.
August 2009
More than 90 youngsters represent Bangor City in The Shrewsbury tournament.
Jamie Reed signs but City lose 2-1 at Bala on the Friday night season opener at Bala before a crowd of some 900. Martin Beattie leaves for Welshpool before City beat Neath and win 1-0 at Cefn Druids.
September
2009
Controvesy at Farrar Road as a wrongly disallowed goal hands Llanelli a WP win. Worse is to follow with a 5-1 battering at Belle Vue against Rhyl. Then a 1-0 loss to TNS at Farrar Road. The month ends with a draw at Haverfordwest.
October
2009
October opens with a 4-1 defeat of Welsh Cup visitors Cefn Druids and ends with a 1-0 win at Flint in the same competition.
Inbetween there was a single goal defeat at home to Aberystwyth but wins against Welshpool Town and a 4-0 flattening of visitors Prestatyn.
November
2009
Assistant manager Alan Morgan leaves for Aberystwyth where he is appointed manager in place of Brian Coyne.
A new management structure emerges with Nev Powell appointing Marc Limbert as his assistant, Dave Swanick as player coach and Jamie Brewerton as captain.
Two draws - against Carmarthen and Connahs Quay and a defeat at Port Talbot sum up a disappointing November on the pitch.  Referee Darren Adie catches the headlines with a double red card blast which sees Dave Morley and Peter Hoy sent off.

Bangor mourns George McGowan who dies aged 65.
December
2009
December opens on a brighter note with a 3-1 win at Caersws and a week later it gets better still with a 5-2 success at Latham Park against Newtown. Bangor then bash Bala 6-3 at Farrar Road before rounding off the year with a 2-0 win over Porthmadog.

2010
January begins with the arrival of the highly respected Nicky Ward from Newtown. A versatile left footer who can play in midfield or upfront. Next on the scene is local teenager Mattie Hurdman who is surplus to requirements at sinking Wrexham.
Sad news in the middle of the month, former player and long standing supporter Maldwyn Evans had died at the age of 74.
The month closes with a flurry of activity as Chris Sharp moves to TNS as he pursues full time football, and Colwyn Bay wingman Eddie Jebb signs to step into the shoes of Marc Limbert who seems likely to play less and less.
Oh and an up and coming striker called Lee Hunt lands right on the deadline, from somewhere called Rhyl...

More sad news with the death of Dick Jones who managed Bangor City and Rhyl during the 1970s
On the field of play Bangor beat Llanelli 2-0 in the Quarter Finals of The Welsh Cup with goals from Jamie Reed and Dave Morley.  A Semi Final against Prestatyn Town at Newtown awaits. City beat visitors Rhyl and Haverfordwest with midfield maestro Craig Garside scoring in both.
March
2010
Six games in a month and just one defeat, undeservedly at Aberystwyth.
The highlights include a 3-2 defeat of Carmarthen Town and a 5-1 battering of Airbus next to the runway as Planemakers manager Craig Harrison spoke of revenge before the match. Jamie Reed with a hatrick as he scored seven goals in March league matches.
April
2010

   Seven games in April! But amongst the six WP matches - of four wins and two draws - even the 7-1 blathering of Caersws was overshadowed by the Welsh Cup semi final win over Prestatyn. Lee Hunt bagged a hatrick against the forlorn Bluebirds but it was Mark Smyth and Craig Garside who sent Bangor to a third successive Welsh Cup Final. Parc Y Scarlets here we come.

So to one day in May. 
A Welsh Cup Final way down South in Llanelli.  And another win for Bangor whose manager Nev Powell notched up three Welsh Cup wins in a row thanks to a 3-2 defeat of battling Port Talbot. 
Strike partners Lee Hunt and Jamie Reed put City 2-0 up before the interval, Talbot struck back through Drew Fahiya and little Liam McCreesh but an injury time winner from Dave Morley clinched the win moments before referee Dean John blew for time.

Bangor lose 10-1 on aggregate to Midjtylland with Les Davies netting in the 6-1 home defeat.
Centreback Jamie Brewerton signs from coast rivals Rhyl.
August 2008
August sees the three opening fixtures, a defeat against fancied Llanelli, a 6-0 win at Porthmadog and a draw with Haverfordwest County. Chris Sharp signs.
September
2008
City go through the month unbeaten with four wins and two draws.
Wins against Porthmadog and Neath are followed by draws with Caersws and Aberystwyth and then wins over Connahs Quay and Carmarthen Town.
October
2008
October gets under way with a 1-0 defeat of Connahs Quay in the opening round of The Welsh Cup.City continue their fine form with a total of five wins out of six games played.  The solitary defeat 1-6 at home to Caersws, a match which later sees the club fined for fielding a weakened team in the Loosemores Cup having already qualified from the group.
November
2007
A hatrick by captain Marc Limbert saw Bangor cruise past Welsh League opponents Garden Village at Farrar Road and into the last sixteen of The Welsh Cup. Bangor win a league match at Airbus for the first time. City lose against Rhyl and at Welshpool.
Sad news reaches Bangor supporters of the death of Paddy Whelan.
City lose at TNS and chairman Ken Jones announces that he will stand down at the end of December 2008.
December
2008
Bangor supporters are shocked and saddened by the death of loyal supporter Mark Jones.
City are fined for crowd "trouble" during the previous months match with Rhyl.
Dilwyn Jones, Brian Lucas and Gwynfor Jones step up as Chairman, Company Secretary and Match Secreaty respectively.
City win at Caernarfon on Boxing Day..

John Corrigan leaves but Stuart Cooke arrives as the transfer window opens.
Bangor win at Haverfordwest and Aberystwyth with Chris Sharp scoring twice and then thrice.
More sad news for blues followers with the death of goalscoring legend George Morton.[RIGHT]
City beat Rhyl in the Welsh Cup thanks to a decisive penalty from recent signing Stuart Cook.
Andy Mitchell and Paul McManus arrive, so too the never to be seen Godwill Moraka.

City beat Porthmadog at Farrar Road but are rocked by the news that Chris Sharp is out for the rest of the season with a broken arm suffered at Carmarthen.
Bangor smash five past Airbus at Broughton to reach The Welsh Cup Semi Final.

In a busy month of seven Welsh Premier matches City manage only two wins and two draws, with midfielder Chris Seargeant, pushed into action as an emergency striker, on target four times.
April
2009
Bangor continue their incredible poor luck in the League Cup with defeat against TNS at Newtown.
Better news though of the Welsh Cup where a win against Bridgend secures a Parc Y Scarlets showndown with Aberystwyth.
The youngster who have done so well for the reserves come to the fore as Bangor win 3-1 at Newtown, John Owen amongst the scorers.

June 2007
June sees the rebuilding process underway at Bangor, with goalkeeper Paul Smith, fans favourite Les Davies and midfielder Gareth Parry signing on.  Marc Limbert also arrives whilst Sion Edwards confirms he is staying loyal to the club.
Midfielder Craig Hutchinson adds to the growing list whilst news comes through that Alan Goodall has moved from Rochdale to Luton.
July 2007
July brought the sad news of the death of City fan Brian Pritchard.
Better known as "Brian Hit" he was a long standing Bangor supporter who had always helped the club.

August 2007
Captain Paul O'Neill left to join Rhyl.  Two more Connahs Quay Nomads arrive at Farrar Road in the form of Gary Lovell and Dave Swanick. The season kicks off with a 2-2 draw at Newtown, lose at home to Rhyl in the Loosemores Cup, beat visitors Haverfordwest but are cheated out of at least a point by some dubious officials at Airbus.
September
2007
Into September and Gareth Parry returns to Porthmadog and Tommy Mutton joins Newtown.  On the plus side Ben Ogilvy is back with Bangor along with newcomer Michael Johnston who signs from Tranmere. City lose to TNS and Welshpool but clobber visitors Cefn 5-1 and end the month with defeat at Aberystwyth and a draw against basement side Caerws at Farrar Road.

City reel off successive home wins against Aber (Premier Cup) and Llandyrnog (Welsh Cup) then draw at Belle Vue as Rhyl snatch a late Loosemores Cup equaliser claimed by goalkeeper Lee Kendall.  Ashley Stott scores both goals in a 2-0 win at Llanelli, then news that Steve Bleasdale is the new manager at Leigh RMI.  Top scorer Mark Smyth departs to team up with his former boss.
Injury time goals beat a stubborn Porthmadog side who have Viv Williams back in chanrge after Clayton Blackmore's departure.
November
2007
Les Davies and Sion Edwards are named in the Welsh Non League Under 23 side to play in Italy.
Nine man Bangor triumph at Caersws in the Welsh Cup but come a cropper at Newport whose late strike ends City's interest in the Premier Cup. Bangor go up to seventh with a 7-0 win over Connash Quay. The semi final draw for the Loosemores Cup sees City travel to Park Hall for a date with TNS.  Sion Edwards scores as Wales lose the Under 23 match in Italy. City win the WP at Rhyl and beat TNS 2-1 in the Loosemores.
Sad news arrives of the death of former Bangor manager John Doherty.

2007
City draw with Newtown for the second time this season but win at Haverfordwest County. A fine Boxing Day crowd witnesses a 5-1 Farrar Road demoliton of local rivals Caernarfon with Martin Beattie amongst the scorers as City race 3-0 clear within ten minutes.
January
2008
The new year gets off to an equally cheerful start with a 4-0 win at The Oval as Sion Edwards strikes twice against the old enemy. This is quickly followed up by a 5-0 revenge thrashing of Airbus UK who had beaten Bangor in disgraceful circumstances (not of the Planemakers making) in August. News that young goalkeeper Dave Roberts had joined Weymouth with leftback Gary Lovell also leaving the club.  Karl Noon signs from Southport.
February
2008
City lose at Caersws and against visitors Rhyl in the Loosemores Cup, but share the points with Llanelli and Port Talbot Town, leading goalscorer Ashley Stott amongst the goals as usual.
March
2008

March begins with a Welsh Cup quarter final win at Guilsfield
It ends up 6-0 with Ashley Stott hitting four.  This set up a semi final clash with the largely unknown Newport YMCA whilst Rhyl met Llanelli in the other tie.
The month continues with a grim goalless draw at wind and rain swept Traeth and a 2-1 league defeat at Carmarthen which ends with Sion Edwards in hospital.
April
2008

April begins with a comprehensive 3-1 win against YMCA, with Peter Hoy,
Ashley Stott and Sion Edwards on target.
City win at Llangefni - again Peter Hoy the scorer - but lose to visitors Rhyl for whom Marc Lloyd Williams scores both goals.
Defender Michael Johnston wins both The BCFCSA Player of The Season and
Phil Stanley (Daily Post) Award.

Diary of The 2006-07 Season
June 2006
June began on a sad note with the death of former Bangor striker John Kerr.
News followed that Burscough had taken leave of their senses and sacked blues legend Derek Goulding.
The BCFCSA bring some cheer by announcing that they will step in to meet the £1000 a month Inland Revenue tax demands at the request of Ken Jones.
July 2006
Better news to start July with the return to Farrar Road of midfield legend Ricky Evans.- and a week later Marc Lloyd Williams confirms that he has also rejoined Bangor.  Steve Owen is also back as assistant manager.  A number of players have left including midfielder Chris Priest and Kenny Burgess who have joined Colwyn Bay under the management of Peter Davenport.
August 2006
Young left back Ben Ogilvy departs but Audi step in to sponsor The Blues for the 2006-07 season and City celebrate with a 6-0 season opener against Cefn Druids but then get battered 5-2 at Llansantffraid against full timer TNS.

2006
Experienced defender Barry Jones makes his debut as Bangor beat Airbus UK and follow that up with a 1-0 defeat of Welshpool.  Midfielder Kyle Jacobs signs whilst Kyle Jones is reported to have joined Colwyn Bay. City end the month with defeat to Caersws and then Caernarfon but win at Llanrug in the Welsh Cup.
October
2006
Centre half Lee Webber arrives from Porthmadog and later in the month David Neville signs in.  Bangor lose at home to Aberystwyth in a game dominated by some dreadful whistle happy refereeing from Andy Hutchinson who shows 11 yellow and two red cards.
November
2006

  Bangor crash out of the Welsh Cup at Porthmadog and manager Clayton Blackmore is no longer manager.   In the middle of the month new boss Steve Bleasdale is appointed after Steve Owen ends his brief caretaker stay.  Clayton Blackmore is released as a player and joins Porthmadog. Defender Tom Sparey signs and City beat full timers Llanelli 4-0 in the new manager's first game in charge.  In a deal initially set up by the previous manager defender Peter Hoy re signs.  City lose in the Premier Cup at Carmarthen.
December
2006

Defender Steve Wynne and winger Ben Kitchen sign.  Bangor lose to Rhyl and at Newtown.  Marc Lloyd Williams nets (another) hatrick as City thrash visitors Haverfordwest 4-1.  Three more new faces, Mark Smyth, Paul Hopkins and Steve Bowes arrive but it is centrehalf Lee Webber whose header wins the spoils at Caernarfon on Boxing Day. Goalkeeper Dimitris Brinias as signs.

City legend Paul Roberts is allowed to join Rhyl whilst Adam Docker's size 15 boots also walk out of Farrar Road. Winger Carl Jones joins Porthmadog.
Bangor crash at Airbus UK on yet another freezing Friday night.  In the middle of the month news that
Peter Davenport
has taken over as manager at Conference strugglers Southport. A crashing volley from Sion Edwards earns City a point at Welshpool.
Striker Marco Adaggio signs from Shrewsbury Town.

Bangor sign James Scales and Tyrone Grant neither of whom play many games and then win 3-0 at Cefn on a wintry night. A 3-1 win over visitors Connahs Quay and then a 1-0 defeat of lowly Cwmbran also at Farrar Road.
Steve Bleasdale is the February Welsh Premier Manager of The Month.
March
2007
Utility man Mark Cadwallder signs and City win 2-0 at Aberystwyth, then draw with Port Talbot and beat local rivals Porthmadog thanks to a scorcher from Marc Smyth.  
April
2007
A 1-0 win at Caersws follows as winter continues to bite.  City lose at Rhyl then thrash Newtown 5-2 in the final WP match at Farrar Road, but lose on the road at Llanelli and Haverfordwest.  Left winger Sion Edwards is the BCFCSA Player of The Season. Goalscoring legend and the best thing to come out of Llanberis since Hogiau Wyddfa, Marc Lloyd Williams is released by manager Steve Bleasdale.

Former midfielder Neville Powell is appointed as Bangor manager on 9th May 2007.
Former Tranmere battler Alan Morgan is to be assistant manager after departing Connahs Quay.
The mainstand at Farrar Road is hit by a fire which damaged the commentary box and immediate area.

City lose at home - and then away - to Dinaburg to exit the mid-summer nonesense that is the Inter Toto Cup.
Ben Ogilvy becomes the youngest player to represent Bangor in Europe in the second leg in Latvia.

Keeper Phil Priestley joined newly formed FC United whilst Owain Jones spends a trial period with Swansea City.  By the end of the month Owain has signed a twelve month deal with The Jacks. 
Meanwhile forwards Les Davies and Tony Gray depart, to Porthmadog and Burscough respectively.

Leftpeg Ben Ogilvy pens a two year contract with Bangor City whilst Liam Brownhill, Kyle Jones and Mike Burke arrive at Farrar Road. As the month ends midfielder Leyton Maxwell and striker Alex Hay sign.  Another newcomer is Cefn Druids leftback Martin Beattie but Mansfield Town centre forward Matt Tipton joins Bury extinguishing hopes he might sign for City. The month ends with defeat at Llanelli and then at home to Welshpool.

City lose at Llansantffraid but young goalkeeper Andrew Price makes a good impression as Phil Cross vacates the keepers berth. Teenage Rhyl midfielder Michael Walsh signs and makes his debut against his old club, in a 4-2 Loosemores Cup exit which is decided in extra time. Better news from the trip to the Traeth win a 2-1 win at Port courtesy a Paul Roberts brace then a 6-0 win at Caersws with Layton Maxwell scoring the first hatrick of the season.  Manchester United leftback Lee Martin signs.

City start off the month with a comfortable Welsh Cup win over Llanberis but lose against visitors Carmarthen.  
Kev Scott is injured whilst centre half Eifion Jones heads for Caernarfon.  Liam Brownhill and Chris McGinn also depart. Alex Hay nets twice in a 3-0 defeat of Cwmbran whose manager Brian Coyne steps down but City slip to a 2-1 defeat at Airbus.

November gets under way with a Welsh Cup win over Airbus before super sub Mike Burke sinks Aberystwyth.  A chill night at Plaskynaston sees Bangor held 2-2.  Winger Darren Gowans emerges from the U21 side to make his debut against Grange Quins but its Paul Roberts with a hatrick which sinks the - soon to be - whippiing boys.  Carmarthen won at Farrar Road for the second time to end City's interest in the Premier Cup.

December starts on a grim note with a 4-1 defeat at Rhyl followed by the resignation of manager Peter Davenport.  
Academy Director Mel Jones takes charge on a temporary basis.  Bangor are bored to death, sorry defeat, by Haverfordwest who win 0-1 at Farrar Road.  Reports confirm that Steve Owen and Huw Griffiths - and kit man Alwyn - have departed with the manager.  Mel Jones gains his first win with a 1-0 success at Newtown. Then a late Mike Walsh goal defeats Caernarfon on Boxing Day and news that Kev Scott has joined Cefn Druids.

A late Paul O'Neill equaliser denies Caernarfon a derby rematch win at The Oval.
City lose 2-0 at Welshpool in what turns out to be the last game in sole charge for caretaker boss Mel Jones.  He accepts the role of assistant manager to Clayton Blackmore on Tuesday 17th January 2006.
News that Alex Hay has joined Leigh RMI then City fight back to a 3-2 defeat against full timers TNS after trailing 3-0.

Manager Blackmore brings in his first signings Tommy Harrison, Kieran Killackey and University student Mike Linnecar. City win 2-0 at Port Talbot with goals from Paul Roberts and newcomer Killackey.

Sad news that former Bangor City player manager Stuart Mason has died at his Wrexham home.
Blues legend Paul Roberts nets his 100th WP goal (86th for City) whilst giant defender Adam Docker signs in but its Roberts who grabs a brace in a 2-0 win at Carmarthen in a game broadcast live on S4C.  Kieran Killackey arrives but former Manchester United defender Lee Martin leaves for Cefn Druids.

A late Paul Roberts goal sees City through to the Welsh Cup Semi Final stage at the expense of Carmarthen Town.
City lose to Airbus in the league and then draw Llanelli in that eagerly awaited Semi Final.  Bangor lose at Aberystwyth but beat Cefn Druids and then beat Port Talbot 3-2 in an end to end affair.

A solitary strike, a great crashing header more like, from Paul O'Neill put Bangor through to The Welsh Cup Final despite the efforts and elbows of Cortze Belle and the would be full timers.  Down to earth with defeat against visitors Porthmadog and a winning double struck by "ran away" truck Les Davies.  City lose to Rhyl and draw at Haverfordwest in the league, lose to struggling Newtown and win at doomed Grange Quins as the matches run out.

2006

The season ends on a flat note with a 2-0 Welsh Cup final defeat against Rhyl.  Referee Mark Whitby enters the legion of the damned for a harsh penalty against Paul O'Neill and then an instant red card shown to Chris Priest.  Somethings never change.
Later in the month the Under 21s win the Northern Conference to reach the national final but lose 2-1 to plucky Cwmbran at Rhayader.

Chairman Ken Jones announces thathe intends to step down from January 2005.
BCFCSA starts the process of coming into existence.  The whole club is given a boost at Paul Roberts is the first player to re-sign for the new campaign.
July 2004
Maesgeirchen win the BC Sevens organiised by the BCFCSA.  Frank Mottram nets a hatrick in the pre-season opener at Bethesda.
Pre-season continues with a 1-1 draw at Colwyn Bay and a remarkable 0-7 win at Caernarfon with hatricks from Paul Roberts and Peter Smith. A 0-2 win at Bala follows thanks to Frank Mottram and Les Davies, who also nets against Markevitcz Celtic along with Dylan Roberts in another 2-0.  The Supporters Association raise over £500 thanks to a Casino night after the Irish match.
Player of The Season Alan Goodall joins Rochdale.
City sign Newtown striker Peter Smith.  Bangor beat Vauxhalls 2-1 in a friendly, goals from Owain Jones and Fachwen winger Morgan Jones, and then another Frank Mottram hatrick seals a 2-3 win at Buckley.

Bangor fans are disturbed to learn that Peter Smith has broken his word and signed for Rhyl.
City confirm the signings of Chris Priest, Paul Whitfield and Morgan Jones.  The WP season kicks off with a 6-0 win over Llanelli and the International selection of winger Les Davies for Wales U21.
The season contiues with promise as Bangor beat Welshpool 4-2 despite trailing 2-1 with Chris Priest red carded.  Sadly the red card came at the price of a broken leg which will keep the former Macclesfield captain out of action until Christmas.  Big Les makes his Wales U21 bow and Frank Mottram scores his 100th Welsh Premiership goal.
Simon Davies re-signs from TNS after an unhappy season or so at Treflan.  On his return City lose to Porthmadog.

Long serving favourite Aled Rowlands moves to Porthmadog and City lose to Caernarfon in the Loosemores Cup first leg.
Two goal from Frank Mottram seal a 3-2 win at Afan Lido which is closely followed by a 4-3 win at Connahs Quay with Paul Roberts netting twice.  Phil Baker signs for City after a season with Aberystwyth and short spell at Droylsden.  Bangor exit the Loosemores Cup after a two legged defeat against Caernarfon before some dreadful goalkeeping hands Newtown the points at Farrar Road.
New goalkeeper Richard Acton and returning midfielder Paul Friel make their mark as City win 4-0 at Cefn Druids.  Kevin Scott and striker Tony Gray sign in as Frank Mottram struggles to get over an ankle injury suffered at Plaskynaston.

City win 2-0 at Penmaenmawr in the Welsh Cup second round and then impresso on TV with a 4-0 win at Newtown in the Premier Cup which earns rave reviews for midfielder Paul Friel who solo goal was the pick of the quartet.  Another defiant display from Haverfordwest goalkeeper Lee Kendall earns County a draw at Farrar Road before Tony Gray scores his first goal in a 3-0 win at Cwmbran.
City draw one all at Treflan with Tony Gray again on target with a wonder goal which beats Gerard Doherty all ends up from thirty yards, but it takes a late penalty save from Richard Acton to deny Marc Lloyd Williams and TNS the three points.

2004
Former Everton youth star Craig Garside signs and makes his debut as City beat CQN 3-0 to reach the Quarter Finals of the Premier Cup.  Paul Roberts and Tony Gray strike as Bangor beat Rhyl 2-1 in the WP as The Lilywhites have two men sent off. Gray is on target again along with Owain Jones in a 2-2 draw at Caersws.

2004
City enjoy a 5-0 romp against Airbus UK and Ben Olgilvy becomes the youngest player to represent the club in the WP.  An outstanding display from Owain Jones leads City to a 4-2 win over Aberystwyth at Farrar Road.  Two goals from Tony Gray earn a 3-3 draw at Carmarthen but the following Saturday City crash 5-1 at basement Llanelli.  Ouch!  Sad news just before Christmas that Steve Humphreys suffered a broken leg. The final match of 2004 sees City lose 2-1 at Caernarfon despite a dozen goalbound efforts in the first half.  Chester bid £20K for Alan Goodall but Rochdale turn them down.

2005
New Year's day revenge for Bangor as right wing sub Morgan Jones scores one and makes the other in a 2-0 win over Caernarfon at Farrar Road.  City lose at Porthmadog in what turns out to be Simon Davies' final game for the club before joining Rhyl.  Mark Connolly scores but gets sent off against Afan Lido before Phil Priestley re-signs and Richard Acton departs. Elvis make his debut in a 1-0 win over Cardiff (youngsters) in the Premier Cup. Ginger midfielder Neil Thomas and centre half Paul O'Neill sign but it is Kev Scott who catches the eye in a 2-0 defeat of coast rivals Connahs Quay.
The Premier Cup draw lands City a home draw with Wrexham.

2005
City exit the Welsh Cup losing 2-1 at TNS despite an impressive overall performance and are then held to a goalless draw at Newtown.  Local lad Ritchie Owen nets a brace in a 6-0 win over NWC visitors Llanfair.  A dreadful performance by referee Simon Jones ruins the match at Haverfordwest.  City withdraw plans for a 3000 all seater stadium at Nantporth but the original more modest development goes ahead.  Two new strikers arrive on the scene, Carl Lamb and Adam Roscoe.

A couple of goals from Paul Roberts inspires a 5-1 midweek win at Welshpool, youngster Carl Lamb also scores on his debut.. Four days later Carl Lamb nets twice in a 4-1 success at Port Talbot.  Next up a 1-0 win over TNS courtesy again of Paul Roberts, then a 2-0 success over Cefn followed by a 2-1 win at Aberystwyth.  Sixteen year old Ben Ogilvy captains Bangor to a friendly win at Flint before a 3-2 win at Belle Vue completes the double over Rhyl with Paul Roberts on target yet again.

Clayton Blackmore strikes in a 1-0 win over Caersws, trouble looms as Peter Davenport lands the Manager of The Month award for March. Following a goalless draw at struggling Airbus City crash out of The Premier Cup against visitors Wrexham for whom Manchester United bound goalkeeper Ben Foster is outstanding.  A Carl Lamb hatrick inspires a 3-2 win over Port Talbot to clinch third place, then a 2-1 win over Colwyn Bay secures a North Wales Coast cup final date with Prestatyn.  The MoTM curse strikes in a 0-1 defeat to Carmarthen when Clayton Blackmore is presented with the BCFCSA Player of The Season Award.

Paul Roberts scored twice to clinch a 3-0 NWCFA Cup win over Prestatyn at Llandudno, and collects a Leading Goalscorer Award before kick off.  Owain Jones scores for Wales in the Semi Pro tournament against Scotland whilst Latvian side Dinaburg are confirmed as Inter Toto Cup opponents.  Maverick goalkeeper Phil Priestley says goodbye - to link up with FC United, the Man United splinter club.

June 2003 City crash out of the Inter Toto Cup losing to Gloria Bistrita 6-2 on aggregate, with Ricky Evans scoring both.  Gary Roberts and Peter Hoy make their debuts.

July 2003 July opens with the departure of Chris Short to Aberystwyth where he becomes assistant manager.  Rae Ingram signs in.  Gwynedd approve planning applications for Nantporth.

Striker Paul Gedman signs, City kick off the new WP campaign with a goalless draw at Afan Lido, the win 5-1 at Cefn Druids with Paul Gedman grabbing four.  Visitors Welshpool are put to the sword with a 5-0 second half demolition led by a brace from Ross Jefferies, finally Phil Priestley becomes a father.

City are unlucky to lose 2-1 at TNS in the WP then Huw Griffiths comes off the bench to level the scores in the last minute in the League Cup visit of Porthmadog.
Ross Jefferies and Ricky Evans both score twice as Bangor blast Cwmbran 7-2 and then edge past Port in the second leg of the LC with late goals, Owain Jones and Alan Goodall the scorers.
Paul Gedman nets a hatrick in a 5-2 win WP at Newtown then a double from hard working Lee Hunt secures a 3-3 Premier Cup draw at TNS.  Finally City beat visitors Porthmadog 4-1 with Owain Jones netting hist first WP hatrick.

It doesnt get much worse than losing at home to Glantraeth in the Welsh Cup, but that was the outcome of a penalty shoot out which left the visitors chanting "Championes" which actually made no sense, but there you go.
Things got even worse as a depleted side crashed 4-1 at Aberystwyth in the Premier Cup and then needed a late fightback
(2 goals in inury time) to draw 3-3 with visitors HaverfordwestPaul Gedman and Owain Jones the late scorers.

City then drew 0-0 at Port Talbot before blasting Caersws 6-1 in the Premier Cup with Ross Jefferies netting a hatrick at The Recreation Ground.

2003
City broke a string of defeats at Barry to win 3-0 but then lost 3-1 at home to TNS in the Premier Cup and by a solitary goal at Haverfordwest in the WP.  Four goal tallies against Newtown and Caersws led to an upturn in fortunes but a five all draw with Aberystwyth at Farrar Road ended Premier Cup hopes. On the negative side Peter Smith opted to stay with Newtown whilst goalkeeper Jason Turner stepped in with Lee Williams in Dubai!

Paul Roberts announced his return with a hatrick as City thrashed Caersws 8-1 in the Premier Cup but could not prevent a 3-2 defeat at Deeside against Connahs Quay despite a wonder goal from Les DaviesLee Hunt also hit a hatrick as City drew 4-4 at Latham Park to progress in the Loosemores Cup.  But bad news was just around the corner as Ricky Evans departed for Aberystwyth and City could only draw with Carmarthen.
The month ended on a brighter note with a 3-0 win over Afan Lido before an amazing 5-4 Boxing Day success at The Oval with Paul Roberts and Cofi Steve Watkin both hitting hatricks.  But, high and lows again, Lee Hunt left for Rhyl after the Belle Vue club served a seven day notice of approach on the Liverpool based striker.

The month started bleakly for Bangor with the death of management legend Tommy Jones aged 84.
A 3-1 defeat at Welshpool, two red cards (Backmore & Hoy) and some truly dreadful refereeing from another incompetent.  More bad news as Owain Jones damages the same foot as before and limped off for another lengthy absence.  City lose to TNS but win at Cwmbran with a hint of fortune and goals from Ross Jefferies and Kenny Burgess.
Mark Connolly signs from Mallaby of the West Cheshire League as the month draws to a close, so too Steve Hitchin from Macclesfield.

2004
Both Paul Gedman and Paul Roberts score as City beat Newtown at Farrar Road but no one can score - even from two yards - as Bangor slip to a 3-0 defeat to visitors Cefn Druids.  Out of favour winger Gary Roberts moves to Rhyl after failing to hold down a place but watches as his new side beat City 2-0 in the Loosemores Cup first leg.

City bid to re-sign Ricky Evans but the big spenders of Aberystwyth hang onto their man, but City win at Park Avenue thanks to an outstanding performance from winger Les Davies.  The next match sees a Loosemores Cup exit to Rhyl but a narrow win against Barry at Farrar Road.  Dont mention Port Talbot whose 2-1 defeat of City on Bangor soil was a hammer blow.  The month ends with news that Clayton Blackmore is to be the new assistant manager of Wales U21, working alongside Glyn Hodges.

2004
A new month kicks off with Alan Goodall saving a penalty to earn a one all draw against visitors Caersws, likewise a Mark Connolly goal against Caernarfon and then news that Les Davies had been drafted into the Wales U21 training squad.  City beat Connahs Quay at Farrar Road, before the match Alan Goodall was presented with Suppoerts Player of The Season Award.
The month closed with an undeserved 2-0 defeat at Rhyl who rode their luck & the assistance of arguably the worse ref in the system at Belle Vue.

2004
The season finally ends with a 4-1 win at Carmarthen who had avoided relegation, goalscorers included Frank Mottram who netted his 98th WP goal and 73rd for Bangor.  By the end of the month Phil Priestley and Steve Hitchin had said farewell and some degree of uncertainty surrounded the future of the manager and several of the players.

Chris Boulton returns to Mold Alex whilst Anthony Fenton arrives.  Paul Roberts hits a hatrick at Haverfordwest but young midfielder Owain Jones is hurt in the win over Cwmbran.

Midfielder Owain Jones undergoes surgery on a damaged cartilage (5th Sept) but City beat Newtown home and away in the League Cup, Lee Hunt cracks a hatrick in three minutes in the second leg.  City batter Caersws 5-0 in the LoW and then win 6-0 at Carmarthen, and then win 2-1 at Afan Lido after trailing 1-0.

Magic Mottram scores for the enemy but City overcome the Canaries at Farrar Road in the League Cup thanks to a super strike from midfielder Ricky Evans.  City draw with Oswestry at home but then win 2-1 at Connahs Quay in The Premier Cup and then draw 1-1 with TNS thanks to a late Eifion Jones equaliser.  Then a 3-0 defeat at Barry which was hard to swallow, and inevitably the Connahs Quay away match is postponed.

Frank Mottram declines an opportunity to return to Farrar Road after City serve the statutory seven day approach.  City lose to Newtown, then at TNS but get back to winning ways at Llanelli with a 5-2 triumph with Ross Jefferies scoring on his debut.  The following Saturday Jefferies hts four in a 6-0 demolition of Halkyn in The Welsh Cup and follow this up with a 1-1 draw at Newport in the Premier Cup.  The month ends with wins against Cefn and at Port Talbot.

A difficult month kicks off with a Premier Cup defeat against Connahs Quay at Farrar Road, before a 0-2 reverse against TNS ends in the home fans booing off referee Phil Southall.  A draw with Newport ended Premier Cup hopes before a 2-1 win over Haverfordwest ended the happy run.
The Christmas box City fans wanted - the return of Marc Lloyd Williams - was waiting for the new year as Lee Hunt struck twice to gun down Caernarfon on Boxing Day at Farrar Road.

Right winger Kenny Burgess strikes as City win at Aberystwyth.  Next up a hard fought 3-2 win over visitors Carmarthen before a 2-0 first leg advantage over Port Talbot in the League Cup semi final.
Wrexham based Ross Jefferies scores twice as City win 4-1 at Welshpool and then stengthen the squad with the signing of young Tranmere defender Phil Baker. Four wins out of four.

Two penalties from Simon Davies beat Afan Lido at Farrar Road before another Shaker effort - this time from outside the box - sparked off a 0-3 Welsh Cup win at Caersws.  A 0-5 win at Port Talbot sets up a League Cup final meeting with Rhyl.
City win 2-1 at Oswestry where Marc Lloyd Williams notches the 150 LoW/WP goal of his career.  A disappointing one all draw with Barry hits the headlines as chairman John Fashanu seeks some self publicity at the leagues expense.  City lose Ross Jefferies to confinement as The Chronicle stands up to be counted.  Nefyn youngster Matthew Parry arrives from Northwich as regular keeper Phil Priestley is injured.

Bangor beat the University students 9-1 in a practice match, Lex Piper on target for the Academics, beat Connahs Quay, but then go out of the Welsh Cup on penalties to Cwmbran.  City then close the gap on the leaders with an impressive 1-0 win at Rhyl with Lee Hunt grabbing the late winner.
Reports suggest Lee Sharpe may move to Farrar Road but injuries mean he cannot.
Goal machine Marc Lloyd Williams hit six in the 8-0 win over Llanelli.  Then bad news as Matthew Parry and Phil Baker leave the club for Northwich and Exeter respectively.  Debutant 'keeper Jon Hallworth excels as City draw at Caersws.

City beat Rhyl but then lost at Newtown, won at Cefn but lost at Connahs QuayRoss Jefferies returns to banish Port Talbot but then stuttered to a disappointing draw at Caernarfon.  The league ended with a 4-2 defeat in a pretty meaningless trip to Llansantffraid. A LoW defeat at Port Talbot after the coach driver went on a "work to rule" whilst City rightly deny a ludicrous rumour regarding a player departure.  Centre half Paul O'Neill arrives on loan from Macclesfield to cover suspensions to Clayton Blackmore and Huw Griffiths.  Marc Lloyd Williams hits a hatrick against Rhyl (one way of flattening that rumour) as City win 3-0, so City sign a striker!  Chris Boulton signs on from Mold AlexCaersws knock Bangor out of League Cup.

A double hatrick for Marc Lloyd Williams sees off Cardiff Civil Service - whose keeper is sent off - and the City fans pay his fine.  Paul O'Neill goes back to Macc whilst City hit six past Llangefni in the NWCFA Cup.  City take the goal tally to 21 in a week with a 6-2 win at Llanelli!  Marc Lloyd Williams and Bull Boulton score as City beat Aber with talk of English system and ballots in the air.  City fans vote to stay in Wales.

Barry Town twice come back from behind to draw 2-2 at Farrar Road, then City win 4-0 at Carmarthen to reach the Semi Finals of The Welsh Cup.  City beat Oswestry twice and romp to a 7-3 win at Cefn on a Friday night with Marc Lloyd Williams again netting five times!  Defeat by 2-1 at Caersws takes the wind out of City's sails but reinstated striker Marc Lloyd Williams scores in a 2-1 win over Connahs Quay and then rounds off the month with four more in a 6-3 demolition of Cwmbran!  By the end of the month his total for the season stood at 50, including 34 LoW goals.

April 2002 Easter Monday saw City win 3-1 at Caernarfon in a game best (or worst) remembered for Steve Skupski throwing the ball into the face of a ten year old girl behind his goal.
Bangor then beat Cefn 5-0 to secure a Welsh Cup Final place and beat TNS 3-0 at Farrar Road before succumbing to defeats at Newtown and Afan Lido to let their championship chance slip away.  Graham Brett injured against TNS.
City win 7-0 at Rhayader as Marc Lloyd Williams hit six to break the LoW record of 43 goals and establish a best of 47 (66 in all matches).

May 2002 Just one game in May, the Welsh Cup Final at Aberystwyth.  That furore over the place and the pitch culminated in a 4-1 defeat as Barry Town clinched the double.

Diary of The 2000-01 Season
July 2000 The pre-season agenda leaves a little to be desired with no big name opponents - but outings instead at Barmouth and Buckley.  No transfer activity t report so far.
August 2000 The great Halmstads disaster - City lose 11-0 on aggregate in the UEFA Cup to the Swedish side. 
The only LoW game is a 1-1 draw at Connahs Quay.

Former Cardiff striker Jamie Hughes bags six goals in five games but fails to guide City to a league win - or to win over the Bangor faithful.  Steve Cooper signs in. City crash 6-0 to Premier Cup opponents Wrexham who include Darren Ferguson, Brian Carey and Hector Sam in their line up, Ferguson scores twice.

Bangor lose 1-0 to Oswestry in a game they could have won 10-1 with chances going begging from start to finish.
City crash out of the FAW Premier Cup with a 1-0 home defeat to Carmarthen with midfielder Robbie Williams sent off.

are the biggest names.

Goalkeeper Ray Newland, Clive Brown and Daniel Grant arrive.  Guy Ambassa shows his face but never laces his boots.  Newland plays at Wrexham but fails to turn up for the trip to Treowen Stars.  Teenager Steve Thomas plays - and does well - as City win thanks to a brace from rampaging Matthew Cross.

Centre forward Deiniol Graham arrives for a two month loan from cash strapped Colwyn Bay, so too Porthmadog lad John Paul Roberts on a more pemanent basis.  XL signs off.  Then the big one - Marc Lloyd Williams returns after a lengthy courtship.  Goalkeeper Paul Evans makes his debut in goal in the 2-2 draw at TNS .  Left footer Richard Owen signs.

Welsh Cup progress thanks to a 3-2 defeat of Newtown at Farrar Road.
City draw 3-3 at Oswestry as Marc Lloyd Williams grabbed a hatrick, as part of a run of ten goals in five games!

Losing 2-0 at half time at Rhayader City make three substitutions at half time and one of them Paul Roberts nets a hatrick in a 4-2 win!  A week later calamity, a 5-0 defeat at Caersws with Meirion Appleton on holiday and City turn out in Canary colours! 
Then a 4-2 win at Llanelli thanks to another Marc Lloyd Williams hatrick.

Fellow strugglers Llanelli thrash Oswestry 11-0 as City lose to Carmarthen.  A crazy offside decision robs City of a point at Newtown.  City lose to TNSMeirion Appleton announces he is to become Youth Development Officer.  Farrar Road sold to developers.  A draw at Port Talbot and win at Aber, then a crucial 3-2 win over Llanelli at Farrar Road.  Safety!

May 1999 Aberystwyth based maverick Meirion Appleton appointed Bangor City manager in place of Lee Williams.
June 1999 Former Crystal Palace and Wales defender Terry Boyle appointed assistant to Meirion Appleton
Major Maund arrives at Chief Executive whilst Andy Thomas is an early signing from Connahs Quay.
July 1999 Lewis Coady, Phil Johnson and most of the first team squad sign in but City fail to land Deiniol Graham who eventually opts for Cwmbran.  A first friendly win at Buckley, then Andy Thomas has gone - to Cwmbran.
August

Friendly wins at Glantraeth, Barmouth and Holyhead, City are told they cannot sign Jamie Jardine from Connahs Quay. 
Emrys Williams and Matthew Cross arrive, so too Tor Kristian Strand.
The season kicks off with a 5-2 win at Caersws, Hazel plays first game, but this is followed by a daylight robbery defeat at Rhyl and a deserved home defeat by Llansantffraid at Farrar Road.

Bangor lad Scott Williams surfaces from the USA, City crash 4-1 at youthful Llanelli but bounce back to beat Connahs Quay in the Gilbert Cup.  Defeat at Aberystwyth followed by the news that Tommy Mutton has joined Swansea for £22500. 
He makes his League debut, and City win 3-1 at Rhayader thanks to a wonder goal from Prestatyn based Ritchie Semple.

Goalkeeper Andy Mulliner arrives, City draw one all with Cwmbran for whom goalkeeper Pat O'Hagan scores from a goalkick.  Paul Mooney goes Canary whilst the metal mesh fences leave Farrar Road.  City narrowly scrape past Corwen Amateurs in the Welsh Cup.
Graham Brett signs in, City win 2-1 at Cefn Druids thanks to a late Lewis Coady winner.  Ten man City beat Caernarfon 3-1 in the Gilbert Cup after Emrys is sent off, Mark Allen joins Cefn Druids.  City beat Newtown 3-2 at Farrar Road.

1999
City win 1-0 against Haverfordwest, cofi Lee Allen signs, then City wallop Caersws 6-2 in the Gilbert Cup Quarter Final.  Welsh Cup opponents Llandudno are roundly beaten 5-0 at Farrar Road, striker Aaron Thomas (son of Mickey) joins Rhyl.  City win 1-0 at Carmarthen thanks to a Gavin Allen goal to take the unbeaten run to ten games.

City beat Afan Lido 4-1 as pylon defender Jones gets himself sent off, the death of Elwyn Coffey is announced - City lose a true friend.  A hard fought 2-1 win in the mud at Caernarfon followed by a 3-1 win over depleted Inter Cardiff featuring a superb goal by Robbie Williams.  A 1-0 win against Connahs Quay thanks to Paul Roberts takes the unbeaten run to 14 games, including 10 straight wins.

The Floodlit League kicks off, City beat a youthful Colwyn Bay side 5-0 in the opening fixture.  In the LoW a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Caersws closely followed by a crazy 2-1 loss at Llansantffraid.  Two Caersws and both Saints goals were either own goals or deflections.  A deserved 3-2 defeat of Rhyl at Farrar Road, 3-1 loss to Llanelli the an 8-0 drubbing of weakened-by-walkout Conwy.
Paul Roberts pulls a hamstring, Nathan Comley-Excel arrives, City lose 2-1 at Aberystwyth as Martin Jones proves unbeatable.

A thrilling 3-3 draw with Barry Town at Farrar Road, Comly Excel (XL) grabs a late equaliser after Hazel gallops through the midfield.  Lee Allen goes, City beat Inter Cardiff 4-0 in the Welsh Cup.  Meirion Appleton sacked, supposed to have resigned, Major causing trouble, Meirion re-instated.  City thrashed 6-0 at Cwmbran.

Financial plight hits headlines, Gwyn Pierce Owen admits he has put £15000 into the club so far this season.  A disappointing 3-3 draw with Cefn Druids, Ritchie Semple joins Conwy.  A crucial 4-1 win at Caerleon despite Steve Bird being sent off.
City pull out of NWCC as they are forced to play twice in a weekend. 
A 2-0 win at Conwy and Tony Smith - formerly of Conwy - arrives.

A 1-0 defeat of Rhayader memorable for XL colliding with the floodlight pylon and that mindless shout from a visiting official, a Nigel Moore goal.  Then problems over the ground condition and rent arrears surface.  A 2-1 defeat at Haverfordwest,
Goalie Adrian Tucker, George Horan and David Sweet arrive.  A 1-0 defeat at home to Carmarthen.
April 2000 Defeats at Newtown and Afan Lido followed by Meirion Appleton being sacked by Major MaundAlun Griffiths, Gwyn Pierce Owen and Terry Boyle also leave.  In response to crowd objections Major Maund goes. 
City win 4-2 with ten men as usual at Latham Park against Afan Lido in the Welsh Cup Semi Final.. 
Meirion, Terry, Gwyn Pierce Owen and Alun Griffiths return.

Home fixtures, City beat Caernarfon but lose to Connahs Quay Nomads.

A crushing 6-0
defeat at Aberystwyth's Park Avenue against Barry Town in the Gilbert Cup Final. The two goalkeepers summed up the difference.  Bangor had Adrian Tucker who is 5'8 and a touch lightweight; Barry had 6'7 Morten Heldegaard on loan from Coventry!

A rousing 1-0 win against Cwmbran in the Welsh Cup Final at The Racecourse with the all important goal coming from Paul Roberts.
