Bangor signed off the 2018-19 season with a draw at Llanrhaeadr to lift themselves above Rhyl in the final Cymru Alliance table.
Or rather Bangor drew at Llansantffraid, on what was for both teams a difficult dry bumpy pitch on a boiling April afternoon. Given the recent dry sunny weather this was hardly surprising.
Llanrhaeadr started on the front foot with a couple of corners at the Social Club End and it was no surprise when they went ahead on nineteen minutes. But the goal surprised everyone as player manager Marc Griffiths gathered the ball on the left, close to the corner flag, and lashed home with a cross or shot which dipped over Nathan Wolland and into the roof of the net.
City raised their game with Alex Boss, a danger on the right, winning a freekick which Gary Taylor Fletcher headed over. Minutes later left winger Jacob Farleigh saw his shot blocked on the edge of the box before Osian Hughes was shown the yellow card by referee Dan Fogarty for reasons not clearly obvious. In between all this Iwan Matthews rushed on goal but was denied by a bravc block from Nathan Wolland on the edge of his area.
Player manager Gary Taylor Fletcher saw goalkeeper Jimmy Haynes off his line. lofted the ball goalwards but was denied by a fine backpeddling save . From the resulting corner on the right Robbie Parry crossed from the left and Osian Hughes stabbed an instinctive effort wide from six yards.
Ten minutes before the interval the game descended into near farce. Jacob Farleigh ran on goal, chased into the box and was stopped by a clear pullback from a home defender. With everyone expecting a penalty the referee waved play on, the bald linesman also unmoved. Comments from the home bench - directly below our position - to the effect of "we got away from one there" summed things up although referee Fogarty was not done as he yellow carded Taylor Fletcher for comments passed.
Buoyed by this let off Llanrhaeadr pushed forward with Tom Evans shooting on target before Iwan Matthews ran on goal and forced a fine save from Nathan Wolland who ran out to confront the breakaway striker.
On the stroke of half time a set back for the home side as leftback Iain Edmunds limped off to be replaced by Tom Bailey. In the three minutes added a foul on Gethin Thomas yielded a freekick fired over by Gary Taylor Fletcher and in the final moment some fine composed defending by Jordan Piggott as danger threatened.
So a slender deficit for City to overcome as they wandered off for a cold drink.
Jordan Piggott

HALF TIME 1-0

  No changes at the interval.
Now attacking the Social Club or Main Stand End the young blues side quickly won a freekick for a foul on Alex Boss but the cross was punched away by goalkeeper Hayns.
But on 50 minutes the scores were level as Jordan Piggott fought strongly for a bouncing ball on the left edge of the box before passing to Gary Taylor Fletcher. The veteran front man laid it on a plate for Gethin Thomas who made now mistake from eight yards out.
Another bizarre incident involving the officials followed as Joe Vaughan was yellow carded for appearing to kick Osian Hughes as he lay prone on the turf. This had to be either nothing if nothing happened or a straight red for violent conduct. Nonetheless both sets of players and supporters shrugged their shoulders and carried on regardless.
Ten or twelve minutes after the restart a Bangor corner led to a Llanrhaeadr breakway which culminated in Jacob Farleigh being shown the yellow card for blocking a breaking forward.
On the hour mark Bangor took the lead as Jimmy Hayns skied his attempted punch for Gary Taylor Fletcher to head nip in and nod home from six yards.
Five minutes the home player manager Marc Griffiths was also booked for dissent, and it is worth pointing out that the maverick hit and miss antics of the officials favoured neither side in the bigger picture.
Llanrhaeadr were determined to end the league season on a positive note and forced Nathan Wolland into some fine saves in particular from Iwan Matthews.
Then with twenty minutes to go a deserved equaliser as Marc Griffiths tapped home from close range as City struggled to clear a cross from the right.
With a quarter of an hour to go City made their only change as Sam Jones replaced young Jamie Thomas who had worked hard at right back, Jacob Farleigh dropping back to the defensive berth. Griffiths again went close for the home side before Gary Taylor Fletcher shot tamely on target from fifteen yards. Moments later Sam Jones fired over.
Sam Weaver trotted on in place of midfielder Sam Thomas and his arrival spurred Llanrhaeadr on to finish with a flurry of four or five corners mainly in the five minutes of added time. But City stood strong, Nathan Wolland clearing when needed and Jordan Piggott and young Cian Williams in the right place at the right time.
So a draw about right, a point which lifts City above Rhyl into fourth place and one which sees Llanrhaeadr end on a positive note, two cup finals still to come.
Much water to  pass under the bridge before battle resumes in July or August but for now a well earned break...
City celebrate Gethin Thomas equaliser

Bangor gave a first team debut to U16s captain Jamie Thomas at right back as Cian Williams slotted in alongside Jordan Piggott in the absence of suspended Michael Johnston. There was also a first bench call up for Aron McGrath.
And how well the youngsters played against a physically stronger and more experienced Flint side was evidenced by the fight shown after the visitors took an early lead.
Flint took the lead on twelve minutes under unfortunate circumstances for the blues defence. A clearance struck Andy Brown who gathered the ball and passed to strike partner Mark Cadwallader to beat Nathan Wolland with a clean strike for his fifteenth goal of the season.
But rather than inspriing the visitors they seemed to lose their way and City fought back into the game.
Centreback Jordan Piggot, a twenty year old veteran amonst the teenage back four, stood strong with debutant rightback Jamie Thomas also catching the eye.
Bangor's biggest attacking threat came from player manager Taylor Fletcher who sent a left footed effort just over the crossbar before leaving a couple of Flint defenders in his wake but firing too close to goalkeeper Jones.
With neither side able to add to the scoreline Flint left the field at the interval with a slender lead but Bangor very much still in the game.

HALF TIME 0-1
No changes at the interval for City.
Attacking the Bangor End th eyoung blues hauled themselves back into the game.
Ten minutes after the restart Robbie Parry continued his fine goalscoring run with an equaliser that gave City hope.
Then on 72 minutes the blues had a penalty as a mazy run from centreback Jordan Piggott was brought to an abrupt halt in the visitors box. Up stepped Robbie Parry to net his second of the game with a cool as you like flick down the middle as Flint goalkeeper Aaron Jones dived to his right. This was Parry's fourth goal in as many games and his sixteenth of the season for City.
And that was about the end of the scoring as City played out a two one win over runners up challengers Flint.
Next game Llanrhaeadr YM away next Saturday (at Llansantffraid)

Bangor lost again to relegation strugglers, this time in the form of Penrhyncoch who put up a fighting display to lead two nil at half time.
And things went from bad to worse for City as captain Michael Johnston was red carded ten minutes before the break. He will not be available to play again this season.
Both sides had early half chances, Jacob Farleigh and Alex Boss caught they eye for City, but it was the visitors who took the lead on 22 minutes through Jon Evans.
City looked menacing down the right through the combination of Alex Boss and Cian Williams who created an opening for midfieder Gethin Thomas but he could not hit the target. On the half hour a collision with Penrhyncoch goalkeeper Leigh Jenkins left Alex Boss needing attention but he was able to continue aftertreatment.
Then on 34 mintes City fell further behind as Josh Shaw crashed home from close range. Calamity was to follow within seconds of the restart as Michael Johnston was red carded for his part in a full blooded challenge which left the veteran defender with a gashed shin.
Down to ten men the young blues had to re organise with Cian Williams moving into central defence.
The dismissal enraged the Bangor camp who had Osian Hughes yellow carded for opinions passed and just before half time the referee sent Alan Moogan from the Bangor bench for also expressing his disapproval.
So a mountain to climb for the depleted blues whose player manager Gary Taylor Fletcher was effectively a nominal substitute on the night.

HALF TIME 0-2
No changes at the interval for City.
Against the odds Bangor pushed forward from the second half restart with Robbie Parry to the fore. He won a freekick but shot too close to goalkeeper Jenkins.
Next Tom Reilly crossed but Gethin Thomas headed over the crossbar. Momnets later Jaocb Farleigh slid the ball through to the willing Thomas but his shot sliced into the side netting.
But on 58 minutes Penrhyncoch went three nil ahead as Jon Evans netted his second after City lost possession in midfield. With the situation seemingly impossible for Bangor a ray of hope came in the red card dismissal of Liam Lewis for an off the ball incident on 62 minutes and with the sides now even Bangor pulled one back.
On 66 minutes a handball in the box resulted in a blues penalty which Robbie Parry dispatched to offer a glimmer of hope and his fourteenth goal of the season. Four minutes later a change for the visitors as Liam Doherty replaced former Aberystwyth leftback Cledan Davies.
Bangor pressed again, won a couple of corners and had the ball scrambled off the line but could not get the vital touch to cut the deficit again.  Ten minutes from time Robbie Parry crossed but Jacob Farleigh fired over the bar as did Tom Reilly minutes alter.
In the closing minutes there was a debut for Leon Owen who came on for Gethin Thomas and then Dylan Summers Jones replaced Robbie Parry who had been at the heart of City's better moments.
But neither change resulted in any alteration to the scoreline as visitors Penrhycoch celebrated a much needed win which sets them up for a weekend showdown with Holywell in Mid Wales.

Another defeat for City against relegation haunted Holywell on a flat lifeless Halkyn Road pitch, albeit a defeat dependent on some dark arts on that dimly lit pitch..
With veterans Mike Williams and Gary Taylor Fletcher unfit the youngster ranks also lacked Jacob Farleigh and Sam Jones through injury.
Bangor won a corner which was cleared with Alex Boss quickly gaining the upper hand over leftback Zebb Edwards as City attacked the social club end.
Holywell put City under some pressure with Jordan Piggott and Michael Johnston soon into their work of interceptions and clearances. Ahead of them Tom Reilly put in a good shift as he worked hard to protect his defence.
There was always a chance that Alex Boss would be on the receiving end of some harsh treatment and so it proved as Mark Winslade was shown the yellow card for a heavy challenge on the Anglesey flyer.
Kian Owen was also carded for a trip as Holywell broke, former blue Rob Jones followed him into the book for what seemed like an unintentional arm in the face of Alex Boss on half way.
Both sides had threatened from a distance before on half an hour the home side won a penalty which Sam Jones blasted goalwards but Nathan Wolland smothered with a fine low stop. Credit to the young glovesman who enjoyed a fine evening in the Bangor goal.
City had a penalty shout of their own and before the break a foul on Michael Johnston resulted in a freekick which dropped to Jordan Piggott on the edge of the box but Renshaw blocked bravely and Holywell cleared. Alex Boss again raced at the home defence and created openings but with nothing decisive to show.
At the other end both Rob Jones and Matty Hughes had efforts blocked as the blues defence worked hard to keep their clean sheet intact.
A final yellow card of the half for Tom Reilly whose calculated pull on half way did enough to stop a Holywell break away.
So an even first half, some heavy challenges on the young blues and the growing feeling that the young referee was guessing now and then, which of course is precisely what the bald linesman did start to finish.

HALF TIME 0-0

Robbie Parry wheels away after slotting home the 49th minute penalty
  No changes at the interval.
The hosts started the brighter as Nathan Wolland saved well from Damien Ketley who was a threat throughout.
But a great attacking move down the right for Bangor earned a penalty. Rightback Cian Williams combined with Gethin Thomas to free Alex Boss who progress into the box was halted illegally by Matty Hughes. Upstepped Robbie Parry to fire home and give City a 49th minute lead.
But six minutes later Holywell drew level in bizarre circumstances. Forward Mark Winslade was out by the right corner flag when he unleashed a dipping cross shot which flew over blues goalkeeper Wolland into the roof of the net. Whether he meant it or not it was a great strike and the scores were level.
Pushed forward by this Holywell forced a couple of corners and once more Piggott and Johnston stood strong with young fullabacks Williams and Owen also showing well.
Both Jones and Pomeyie went close for Holywell who made a couple of changes as on 65 and 70 minutes as Josh Malbon and then Jamie McCall came on for Jamie Renshaw and Pomeyie respectively.
Bangor threatened down the right through Cian Williams and Alex Boss with young Dylan Summers Jones sending a header just wide.
But on 80 minutes Holywell went ahead.
If their first goal was bizarre this owed much to the dark arts. A low cross from the right was turned home by Damien Ketley from close range. Nothing wrong with that, other than a blatant block by a member of the Holywell bench on a blues defender which enabled the cross and set up the goal. Sadly the referee got no support or advice from his linesman who had been erratic and unreliable all night.
Of course there are bigger fish to fry for Bangor supporters at the moment and Holywell desperately needed the win. But this type of behaviour against what was in truth youthful opposition leaves a bad taste. And it has to be said as officials go the three on show were very poor.
In the closing minutes there was a Robbie Parry freekick which was hacked clear and another one wasted.
There can be no doubt Holywell at times used their weight and experience against the young blues and pushed that to a limit. But that body check by a member of the bench really is beyond that limit.
Next game Penrhyncoch at Nantporth on Tuesday night

Champions Airbus swept a youthful City aside after two late first half goals set up an emphatic final scoreline.
Bangor suffered a last minute blow as Robbie Parry was ruled out moments before kick off with Cian Williams drafted in, City also gave a first start to sixteen year old Dylan Summers Jones with Sam Jones still injured.
It only took the visitors six minutes to break the deadlock as Lewis Buckley crashed home from close range.
On ten minutes debutant Summers Jones forced a corner which Airbus cleared and moments later the young striker repeated the feat from Tom Reilly's through ball but Dave Roberts claimed the cross confidenlty.
On the quarter hour mark the dangerous Asa Hamilton headed wide when well placed before Roberts did well to deny Alex Boss and Gary Taylor Fletcher as City pushed for an equaliser.
With 33 minutes gone City drew level. A penalty awarded for a foul on Alex Boss was taken by the Anglesey winger, saved by Roberts but netted by Alex Boss to the relief of the City fans.
Hamilton went close once again for The Planemakers but City held firm with Jordan Piggott catching the eye in the blues defence.
But two late goals were to scupper what had been a positive recovery from City. First on 44 minutes Sam Hart made it two one and then a minute later Lewis Buckley headed home from Hart's cross to for his second of the evening to make it three one.
So a late double blow for City who went from all square to trailing by two in little more than a minute.
Photo Alex Boss with thanks to EventPhoto Wales

HALF TIME 1-3
No changes at the interval for City.
Four minutes after the restart City fell further behind as Kristian Platt headed past Nathan Wolland into the blues net for a four one advantage.
By now it was a test of character for the young blues and the older heads Johnston and Taylor Fletcher.
Asa Hamilton led the line well for Airbus and was unlucky not to add his name to the list of scorers although Jordan Piggott did his utmost to see he didnt. Tom Reilly fired wide for City from a rare opening and minutes later Dylan Summers Jones picked out Gethin Thomas but his effort flew narrowly wide.
On 63 minutes Airbus went 5-1 ahead as Joe Palmer saw his header loop over blues goalkeeper Wolland after he had made a final initial save.
With the viistors in pretty much total control they were denied by a combination of the woodwork, the hard working defence and plucky goalkeeper Wolland who pulled off some fine saves in difficult circumstances.
With around ten minutes to go Alex Boss set up Gethin Thomas but his effort was too close to goalkeeper Roberts.
And finally with two minutes left on the clock Sam Hart grabbed his second to make the final score six one and bring the curtain down on a difficult evening for the home side.
Despite the obvious problems several local teenagers represented the club with pride, none more so than Dylan Summers Jones who worked hard on his full debut.
Next game at Holywell on Friday night.

Bangor were able to return to Nantporth for this home fixture with old enemy Rhyl and they celebrated in style with a welcome home win over The Lilywhites.
City were forced to rule out centreback Mike Williams but on the plus side Robbie Parry was available and certainly made his presence felt.
It was the visitors though who took the early advantage with a couple of chances for Sam Molyneux both kept out by reinstated goalkeeper Nathan Wolland. The first Bangor threat came on seven minutes from winger Jacob Farleigh who fired over the bar.
Then on 14 minutes City had the lead as Jacob Farleigh latched onto a loose ball from Kian Owen's long throw to find the bottom corner with a sweet half volley. This goal gave the young blues confidence and on 23 minutes they doubled the lead. Gary Taylor Fletcher released Robbie Parry and his fine solo run culminated in a calm finish whihc left the veteran Hill Dunt helpless.
Alex Boss had the beating of Joe Sullivan who went into the referee's book for a poor challenge on the young winger. On the half hour James Murphy got the better of the blues defence but Sam Molyneux could not apply the all important touch. Jacob Farleigh tested Hill Dunt from distance but the 'keeper was in command.
But on 34 minutes it was three nil to Bangor. A first City goal for young Tom Reilly as he fired home left footed from the edge of the box. Two minutes later a goal back for The Lilywhites as Sam Molyneux netted after Nathan Wolland had done well to save the initial effort from the ever dangerous James Murphy.
Jacob Farleigh had suffered an injury during the opening half hour and he was replaced by Anglesey youngster Dylan Sumers Jones.
The Bangor side was built around powerful player manager Gary Taylor Fletcher and his hold up play won a freekick which he fired goalwards but Hill Dunt saved. Right on the stroke of half time James Murphy saw his shot slide narrowly wide and the referee blew for the interval with City well placed with a two goal advantage.

HALF TIME 3-1
  No changes at the interval.
Bangor went close three minutes after the restart as Gary Taylor Fletcher chested the ball down for Osian Hughes but he shot at Hill Dunt. Moments later Dave McIntyre fired off target for distance. Gethin Thomas was shown the yellow card for a mistimed challenge which yielded a freekick to the visitors which Taylor Fletcher headed clear.
Next up a moment of magic and pure farce as Alex Boss hurdled wild challenges from Dave McIntyre and Ben Nash before being brought down in the area by Cai Owen. A clear penalty and three bookings for the Rhyl offenders! Robbie Parry took the responsibility and slotted home to the left beyond Hill Dunt for a four one lead on the hour mark.
Rhyl immediately rang the changes then with Ben Lockley and Swiss debutant Richard Glauser coming on for Joe Sullivan and Barry Torrence respectively.
And with 68 minutes gone the changes paid off as James Murphy cut in from the right and fired into the top corner. A final change for Rhyl as young Connor Roberts replaced Dave McIntyre. The Lilywhites pressed forward and blues captain Michael Johnston was booked for a foul on the edge of the box but the freekic crashed into the home wall.
On 75 minutes Tom Reilly crossed but substitute Summers Jones could not quite get his head to the ball as City sought what would now be a decisive fifth goal of the evening. Reilly, along with fellow teenagers Osain Hughes and Gethn Thomas had battled hard for City against their more experienced opponents.
But on 84 minutes the anxiety levels grew for City as James Murphy crashed home from outside the box to make the score 4-3 with time enough left for the Lilywhites to level the scores.
As time ran out Robbie Parry was injured and had to be replaced by young defender Cian Williams and he played his part as City held on for a narrow but welcome victory thanks to a srong performance from Gary Taylor Fletcher and a brace from Robbie Parry. And for some reason it had to be four three!

Bangor suffered a horrible beating at Bastion Gardens against a Prestatyn side who were billed as relegation candidates a few month ago.
On a mild but wet evening on the North Wales coast City were without Chris Mullock and Sam Jones but were able to welcome Robbie Parry back to the matchday squad.
But it was Prestatyn who started on the front foot and quickly ran up a two goal lead.
The first goal came on nine minutes when Town captain Alex Jones pounced on a rebound to crash home from the edge of the box. Four minutes later it was two nil. The pacey Macauley Taylor unsettled the blues defence for Danny Davies to fire past young Gruff Evans.
In between there had a been a glimmer of an equaliser as Mike William and Gary Taylor Fletcher went close but could not get the ball past Ryan Roberts.
On twenty minutes Kian Owen did well to deny Taylor again and City managed to clear the resulting corner.
But on 32 minutes Bangor pulled one back as Jordan Piggott's flighted freekick was headed home by player manager Gary Taylor Fletcher.
Five minutes later Alex Boss opened up the Prestatyn defence with a fine run but midfielder Tom Reilly could not get any power in his shot and Roberts saved. With five minutes left blues keeper Gruff Evans did well to deny Danny Davies whose dipping volley forced a fine backpeddling save.
But with two minutes to go City drew level. Gary Taylor Fletcher picked out Jacob Farleigh whose curling shot beat Roberts all ends up as it crashed in off the crossbar.
And that was about it for the first half as City had shown good spirit to fightback after suffering that double blow.

HALF TIME 2-2
  No changes at the interval.
The early stages of the second half were even enough with Alex Boss racing beyond Faulkner but not getting the better of Roberts.
On 58 minutes a change for City as Mike Williams limped off to be replaced by Robbie Parry. Alex Boss threatened again and was fouled in the process but nothing came of the freekick.
On 68 minutes Prestatyn regained the lead as the veteran Dave Hayes netted from Ben Maher's corner.  Prestatyn had the upper hand now and Gruff Evans did well to keep out Macauley Taylor but it was a temporary reprieve as the home side struck again on 73 minutes as Danny Davies grabbed his second from distance.
With fifteen minutes to go City went close to halving the deficit through Jacob Farleigh whose curler forced a fine save from Ryan Roberts. Minutes later Wayne Adams replaced Oli Buckley in the Prestatyn side.
But on 81 minutes it was five two as Macauley Taylor got in on the goalscoring action with a fine solo finish.
With five minutes left a double change as Cian Williams replaced the struggling Michael Johnston and Prestatyn withdrew captain Alex Jones for Sam Duffy.
Two minutes from time Aaron White came on for double scorer Danny Davies but there was still time for the home side to rub salt in the wound as Dave Hayes netted his second of the evening.
A humbling experience for the very youthful Bangor side which finished the match but, in fairness, they worked hard and showed pride in the shirt despite being out played at times.
Most City fans - boycotters or not - will be glad to see the end of the troubled campaign.
  Rhyl at Nantporth next Friday.

Bangor worked hard to earn a point at top five Flint with both centrebacks Jordan Piggott and Mike Williams outstanding alongside their young team mates. There was also a welcome return for Chris Mullock in goal.
Either side of the centrebacks rightback Gethin Thomas and left peg Kian Owen also played their part whilst teenage midfielders Tom Reilly and Osian Hughes competed fiercely against more experienced opponents.
Attacking the town end and playing into a stiff breeze City won an early corner which was cleared before on five minutes a big decision for Llandudno Junction referee Mark James.
Lanky Flint striker Andy Brown threw himself into a wild challenge on Jordan Piggott on half way close to the touchline. It has to be said it looked a red card challenge but the official flashed yellow and Brown earned an unlikely reprieve. Piggott needed treatment and looked shaken for a few minutes.
Flint settled the quicker and with Aron Jones on the right showing some good touches forged a couple of early chances as Ieuan Hewitt and Kyle Smith went close without troubling the fit again Mullock.
Midway through the half a long throw from the impressive Hewitt nearly resulted in an own goal but from the resulting corner Chris Mullock lept highest to claim the high cross. On the half hour another Flint corner was boomed clear by Jordan Piggott and City broke upfield with home keeper Aaron Jones forced to rush out to smother the ball as Alex Boss threatened.
Flint goalkeeper Jones was spoken to by Referee James for loud mouthed obsenities, but leftback Tom Kemp kept up a seemingly ceaseless tirade of expletives aimed at himself and his team mates every time he got the ball. Quite bizarre but strangely entertaining.
City then threatened as Gary Taylor Fletcher combined with Jacob Farleigh who cut in from the left but saw his shot turned well saved by Jones. Kian Owen delivered the corner and Jones saved well from Mike Williams' header.  Moments later Taylor Fletcher lifted the ball over the lumbering Flint defenders but Sam Jones fired wide. City's player manager was at his best as he dropped into midfield rather than compete against the giant Christou whose height advantage was difficult to overcome.
Realising their time with the elements was seeping away Flint mounted a charge as half time approached, forced a couple of corners but nothing that Chris Mullock could not deal with at the River Dee end. And so the half time whilstle blew, Mr James perhaps contemplating his big decision and City doubtless pleased with a clean sheet from the difficult first period against the wind.
  All to play for..

HALF TIME 0-0
No changes at the interval for either side.
But City no s attacking the River Dee Estuary end and enjoying the backing of the south westerly wind driving them forward.
Five minutes after the restart it was the home side who went closest though as Richie Foulkes shot well wide from distance after a freekick had been half cleared. Despite the wind in their faces Flint had the better of the opening quarter and it was the blues defence who had to work overtime to keep them out. Kinsella caught the eye with his willingness to run with the ball, Hewitt with some powerful passes and Kemp for continuous swearing. Leftback Kian Owen did well for City as they pressed down his wing.
On the hour a first change of the afternoon as Jake Hampson replaced Bontnewydd midfielder Aron Jones who had given the home side width on the right.
The towering Christou was next into the book for a mistimed challenge, a trip on right winger Jacob Farleigh who was simply to quick for the giant defender. Leading goalscorer Mark Cadwallader then spurned a golden chance to put the home side ahead but his header sped narrowly wide.
Bangor countered as Alex Boss ran at the defence, was fouled and City were awarded a freekick which was allowed to bounce in the box and ran to Kian Owen but he couldnt keep his effort down. With fifteen minutes to go City pushed the home side back and won their fourth and fifth corner before the chuntering Kemp was eventually shown the yellow card by referee James.
A Bangor move built around Alex Boss and Gethin Thomas on the right saw Gary Taylor Fletcher shoot at goal from 25 yards. On 80 minutes Kian Owen's long throw was headed over by Taylor Fletcher as City sensed victory was within their wind assisted grasp.
On 82 minutes young Dylan Allshorn replaced Andy Brown who might so easily have left the field over an hour earlier. Flint's outstanding player Hewitt lashed goalwards but Chris Mullock saved confidently. Flint pressed again minutes later as Cadwallader hooked wide from ten yards after some defensive uncertainty.
Bangor again pushed forward as Gary Taylor Fletcher's cross just evaded young Sam Jones who had been closely watched all afternoon by the strong Flitn defenders. A moment of pure comedy next as leftback Kemp, still fizzing with self loathing, got involved in a needless verbal exchange with some City fans, turned his back on play and allowed a simple pass to roll behind him and out for a blues throw!
A sixth and final Bangor corner came into added time but Jones was untroubled and moments later Mr James blew for time. A defiant point for Bangor and much for the young blues and the twenty year old veteran Piggott to be proud of.

Bangor crashed to an emphatic "home" defeat against mid table Ruthin for whom Llyr Morris scored twice early on at Maesdu Park, Llandudno.
The Ruthin number nine is arguably the outstanding striker in the CA and his early brace knocked the stuffing out of the young blues side.
The first goal came inside the opening minute as Llyr Morris slotted home from a cross form the right. City won a couple of freekicks for fouls on Piggott and Boss with Mike Williams getting something on both crosses into the box but goalkeeper Goldston was untroubled.
And then on thirteen minutes Ruthin doubled their lead. Nathan Wolland saved well but Llyr Morris was on hand to slot home from close range.
Already the pattern of the game was set as a physical but not dirty Ruthin side had the edge in midfield and seemed to play with more urgency and aggression. In the middle of all this centrehalf Michael Johnston took a knock from a heavy challenge.
Llyr Morris was now on a hatrick and went running through but was hauled back by the offside flag. City looked most threatening when Alex Boss ran at the visitors defence but no one could get on the end of his crosses into the box. On 27 minutes a foul on Boss led to a freekick taken by Gary Taylor Fletcher but fired over the bar from just outside the area.
On 29 minutes a setback for Ruthin as Craig Wilkinson was forced off to be replaced by Tom Dyer but they continued to press as Gwydion Ifan forced a decent save from blues keeper Nathan Wolland. Boss and Tom Reilly had half chances for City but the Town defence were alert and snuffed them out.
On 38 minutes a blow for Bangor as Michael Johnston was forced off by the injury suffered twenty minutes earlier, to be replaced by seventeen year old Osian Hughes.
Then a minute before the break a Ruthin freekick on the edge of the box was curled home impressively by Ryan Jones for a near unassaible three nil lead.
And that was how the scoreline stood at the interval with a very young looking blues side facing a diffcult second period.
And a very difficult team talk for manager Taylor Fletcher.

HALF TIME 0-3
  No changes at the interval
Bangor opened the second half on the attack with Sam Jones forcing an early corner which was attacked by Osian Hughes resulting in a second flag kick which came to nothing.
Fouls on Alex Boss and then Sam Jones resulted in a freekick in a dangerous position but leftback Kian Owen lifted his effort over.
But on 53 minutes it was further misery for City as a mix up in the blues defence led to Nathan Wolland conceded a penalty which Ilan Hughes converted confidently to put the visitors four nil ahead.
With the youthful defence under pressure it was Mike Williams who stood firm to ensure there was no further damage done. Alex Boss continued to impress with some pacey runs which often met with heavy challenges by the Ruthin defenders.
On 68 minutes Tom Williams came on for Gwydion Ifan and moments later Nathan Wolland did well to rush out and clear as danger threatened. City went close then as Kian Owen hurtled in a long throw which Gary Taylor Fletcher headed against the crossbar. Five minutes later Taylor Fletcher set up Tom Reilly but he fired wide from distance.
With ten minutes to go City's player manager needed treatment after a blow to the head, then Benn Lundstram came on for Jacob Farleigh.
With seven minutes left Osian Hughes crossed but a patched upTaylor Fletcher headed over as City looked for a consolation goal which also saw Alex Boss fire at Goldston who will have had busier evenings.
In what was the final meaningful action Ruthin chased forward once more but Jordan Piggott timed his challenge well and stopped them from adding to the score.
So a heavy defeat for City who perhaps deserved a goal for their efforts but never managed to recover from that early double blast from Morris.
Next game at Flint on Saturday 3rd Marchy 2019.

Bangor won at Conwy thanks to a second half strike from Sam Jones and - minutes later - a wonderful penalty save from Nathan Wolland.
Regardless of shirt numbers City lined up with Michael Johnston alongside Mike Williams - both were superb - with sixteen year old Kian Owen on the left and Jordan Piggott - twenty two days later - at rightback. Tom Reilly added spark and graft to midfield alongside Gethin Thomas and Gary Taylor Fletcher.
Attacking the Social Club end on a mild dry evening Bangor forced a couple of early corners with the home defence looking jittery. Behind them though former Bangor keeper Antoni Sarnowski was in fine form.
Conwy suffered an early setback on sixteen minutes when Sean McCaffery was forced off through injury as with former blues U19 defender Adam Pritchard took his place in midfield.
Left winger Alex Boss had the beating of rightback Nathan Williams and with Taylor Fletcher picking him out this was a regular source of progress for City.
Blues leftback Kian Owen was in charge of set pieces and his fourth corner before Conwy broke and fashioned a chance for Corrig McGonigle which he scuffed. Sam Jones shot across goal from the right but neither side really tested the goalkeepers. On 27 minutes a further setback for Borough as Keiron Jeffries limped off to be replaced by another former blues left footer Guto Hughes. This put added pressure on the hard working Gethin Maxwell who tried to drive Borough upfield.
The disruption scarcely helped Conwy as Bangor had the lions share of the first half. On the half hour mark Gethin Thomas shot on target from distance whilst
Corrig McGonigle fired narrowly wide from much the same range. Debutant Tom Reilly was busy and purposeful in the middle of the park, allowing Gethin Thomas to push forward more and player manager Taylor Fletcher to largely rule the roost.
Ten minutes before the break Adam Pritchard lofted the ball down the left for Dean Seager to chase but the former Llandudno man could not beat Nathan Wolland at his near post. City won a fifth corner which was half cleared to Jordan Piggott but his volley flew high over the crossbar. A sixth corner came and went without Sarnowski being unduly troubled and referee Walker blew for the break with the scoreline blank.
A good first half for City but with nothing to show for their efforts.

HALF TIME 0-0
No changes at the interval for either side.
Now attacking the Town end City threatened through right winger Jacob Farleigh whose shot was deflected for a seventh corner but again Conwy cleared. And then the injury curse struck Borough again on 50 minutes as Dean Seager limped off with young Ryan Pope coming on in his place.
But despite this Conwy enjoyed more of the territory and possession in the opening stages of the second period with Corrig McGonigle more and more evident. The ginger left footer plays on the right and can appear disinterested before suddenly emerging to threaten. After the hour mark he raced in behind the blues defence but chipped the ball harmlessly across goal.
And City seized on this let off on 66 minutes as Sam Jones ran in behind the Borough defence to chip Sarnowski and celebrate as the ball bounced into the net. Moments later the ever alert Jones had sight of goal again but this time shot too close to the big glovesman. Alex Boss show electric pace to fashion a shot which yielded a ninth Bangor corner of the evening.
But Conwy threatened as Adam Pritchard galloped straight through the midfield to release Corrig McGonigle but he fired over.
With twenty minutes to go a third Bangor debut of the evening saw 17 year old Osian Hughes replace Gethin Thomas in midfield. A tenth Bangor corner came and went.
But the big moments were ahead. Ten minutes before the whistle a Conwy freekick blasted by
Corrig McGonigle struck the arm of a City defender. Penalty. Again it was the determined McGonigle who placed the ball on the spot and fired low but Nathan Wolland dived full length to his right to pull off a fanstastic save against a well struck penalty.
Two more Bangor corners followed before on 85 minutes Benn Lundstram replaced Alex Boss who had run himself - and the rightback - ragged. Jacob Farleigh was now operating on the left wing and his menacing run forced a good save from Sarnowski and in turn a fourteenth and final Bangor corner which Sam Jones latched onto with an overhead effort but the Conwy keeper gathered comfortably.
Credit to returnee Michael Johnston who was outstanding alongside the nuggety Mike Williams. Neither gave an inch and offered both stern resistance and sound advice to their young companions. Young Kian Owen appears to improve with every game, in particular in terms of decision making.
In what turned out to be three minutes of added time Dylan Summers Jones trotted on for goalscorer Jones and the youngsters worked hard alongside the experienced veterans to ensure the lead was not lost.
A fighting win for City who, despite the off field troubles, continue to work hard on the pitch under the guidance of Gary Taylor Fletcher.
A win applauded by the noisy Bangor supporters gathered on the railway embankment side at the final whistle.
Ruthin at home next Friday evening. (watch the media for further details, this is unlikely to be at Nantporth)

Bangor fell to defeat in Extra Time after the two sides had fought out a four all draw in the normal ninety minutes.
Fishermen and some amateur weathermen reckon Holyhead and Rhosneigr amongst the windiest places in Wales. With storm Erik sweeping in across the Irish sea the 300 or so souls inside the New Oval might be inclined to agree.
However before kick off a moment of silence and contemplation in memory of Cardiff footballer Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson who died in a plane crash a week earlier. Also for local footballer Gareth Hughes.
But with eight goals in normal time and four more later on those who braved were soon richly entertained as Holyhead kicked off with the wind at their backs. In the opening quarter of an hour the home side took advantage of the elements to push City back and force four corners which Nathan Wolland and his defence did their best to repel.
After a fifth Holyhead corner it was City who took the lead on 22 minutes as Sam Jones and Alex Boss combined to set up Robbie Parry who took his time before finding the bottom corner.  A sixth Holyhead corner followed but on the half hour mark Bangor doubled their lead as Alex Boss this time set up Jacob Farleigh to beat goalkeeper Carl Jones.
With City hoping to take the two goal advantage in at the interval Holyhead finally capitalised on the wind and scored twice in quick succession.
On 37 minutes a seventh corner was prodded home by Jon Littlemore and within a minute the scores were level via former blue Chris Jones.
With the elements dictating play Holyhead won a ninth corner which Bangor cleared but on the stroke of half time Jon Littlemore struck again, this time from the edge of the box, to put the Hotspurs ahead for the first time.

City then trailing by a single goal but with the wind at their backs in the second period.

HALF TIME 3-2
No changes at the interval for either side.
Playing now with what one correspondent described as a gale at their backs City set about restoring their lead.
Five minutes after the restart Alex Boss went close but on 52 minutes it was Holyhead who struck as former blue Jon Littlemore grabbed his hatrick goal despite the best efforts of leftback  Kian Owen.
With a two goal deficit Bangor pushed forward and on 56 minutes Kian Owen crossed for player manager Gary Taylor Fletcher to make the score 4-3.
Robbie Parry fired over from distance from a Bangor freekick before centreback Mike Williams shot over the crossbar.
On 75 minutes City drew level as Gary Taylor Fletcher
scored from another Kian Owen cross. Young leftback Owen has seized his opportunity in recent weeks and seems set for a run in the side and the chance to establish himself at Nantporth.
It was Bangor's turn to force some corners with the wind but nothing that Carl Jones and the Holyhead defence could not clear.  With around ten minutes to go City were awarded a freekick which Gary Taylor Fletcher fired on target but Jones was in the right place to pull off a decent save.
Minutes later City went close Jacob Farleigh crossed but Alex Boss could not get his head to the ball.
In the final minute substitute Benn Lundstram trotted on to make his first team debut in place of Cian Williams. Benn is the son of Mike Lundstram who was a member of the Bangor squad which travelled to play Dinaburg Dugavils in June 2005.
And that was about it was referee Walker blew for time and both sides had to ready themselves for an extra time allowance of thirty minutes.
EXTRA TIME 4-4
With Holyhead again enjoying the advantage of the wind it was went close after four minutes as Alex Boss picked out Jacob Farleigh who crossed but Benn Lundstram could not quite turn his effort on goal.
The home side capitalised in style on this let off with two goal in two minutes.
The first came on twelve minutes of the fifteen from defender Dan McGinness to make it 5-4 and the next from a long goalkick converted by Tomos Clarke.
The second period of extra time started with Bangor trailing 6-4 and once young again Benn Lundstram went close before with twenty minutes gone Mel McGinness made it 7-4 and seemingly all over.
But there was still hope for City as young substitute Dylan Summers Jones scored arguably the goal of the game with a long range shot into the top corner to reduce the defict.
It was not to be for Bangor but credit to all those involved in an end to end cup tie which certainly left no one short changed in terms of efforts on goal or goals.
Good luck to Holyhead in the final where they will play either Porthmadog or Airbus.
  Conwy away next Friday evening.

Bangor lost to Gresford but could be proud of the performances of the teenagers who wore the blue shirt today. And the guidance offered by old heads like Mike Williams and Gary Taylor Fletcher.
Depleted by departures City fielded a youthful line up in a game played at Conwy Borough. The first time in my memory that a league match has been staged on a neutral ground although European matches had been played at Belle Vue and The Racecourse.
To clear up the starting line up, Jordan Piggott and Mike Williams played centreback with Cian Williams to the right and leftpeg Kian Owen on the left. Gary Taylor Fletcher operated in midfield alongside Gethin Thomas with Jacob Farleigh to the right and Alex Boss the left. Sam Jones and Robbie Parry upfront.
Both sides won early corners but it was around the ten minute mark that Robbie Parry produced the first shot in anger as he forced Ben Jones into a fine one handed save. The resulting corner from the right swung in left footed by Kian Owen was dropped by Jones but he recovered to save comfortably Sam Jones' strike from the left.
On the quarter hour a yellow card for diminutive midfielder Josh Griffiths for a heavy challenge on Alex Boss, what Martin Keown might refer to as a "reducer". The verbose midfielder continued to argued the point with referee Jones who generally dealt well with a competitive but never dirty game.
The lanky Jack Chaloner caught the eye in the Gresford midfield and it was his run to the right which led to a cross for Simon Smith to force a first save from Nathan Wolland in the Bangor goal.
Midway through the half a moment of pure comedy as goalkeeper Jones wound himself up for a big clearance but sliced the ball agonisingly close to his righthand post and out for a corner. But minutes later it was Nathan Wolland who was in the thick of the action with a double save, first from Nathan Williams and then Simon Smith from close range.
Joe Newtown ran at goal but the dependable Mike Williams stood firm then Tom Freeman found time and space but fired wide.
But on 33 minutes the visitors had the lead.
A disputed freekick from the attacking left was swept over by Simon Smith and flew over everyone into the back post. If the former Wrexham youth teamer meant that only he will know, but it was a clean strike on target.
Seven minutes later Bangor drew level.  Sam Jones ran clear thanks to Robbie Parry and slotted the ball beyond Ben Jones despite the best efforts of centreback Jack Jones. Moments later the young strker was clattered with a knee in the back - another reducer - but in fairness this is mens football and Bangor defenders foul too.
Ans that was about it as the two hundred or so present sought out the warmth of the clubhouse to escape the cold for fifteen minutes.
  All to play for...

HALF TIME 1-1
  No changes at the interval
Bangor now attacking the Social Club end and looking to at least hold what they had got from the first period.
After a cagey start Gresford won a corner ten minutes into the second period which sailed to the back post where Ben Burrows saw his effort cannon off the upright.
On the hour mark Athletic won a couple more corners after some strong defending from rightback Cian Williams. Moments later City rushed upfield and Alex Boss ran in behind the Gresford defence but sliced his effort wide.
With 65 minutes gone a first change of the afternoon as recent signing Sam Pilkington replaced Tom Freeman for the visitors. Moments later Simon Smith went down in the Bangor box but referee Jones waved away penalty claims. Lewis George came on for Jake Eyre in the Athletic attack.
Then with twenty minutes to go Gresford won a freekick to the left edge of the box which Simon Smith approached but Joe Culshaw struck home sweetly to put his side ahead once more.
Culshaw made twenty odd appearances for City during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns.
The question now was whether or not the youthful blues could fightback for a second time.
City managed to carve out perhaps one clear opening when Robbie Parry slid the ball wide to Alex Boss but his shot from the left flew over the bar.
In the closing minutes young Dylan Summers Jones trotted on for his first team debut in place of Alex Boss and he played in his part in the a flurry of three late corners but in truth Gresford defended strongly and City could not forge a clear chance.
So a narrow defeat and one which was clearly influenced by player departures and events off the field. Player manager Taylor Fletcher and former Wrexham captain Mike Williams could take pride in their guiding role amongst their youthful charges but overall it was not quite enough to take a share of the spoils.
After the match Taylor Fletcher suggested he was waiting on International Clearance on a couple of reinforcements.
Next game at Holyhead on Saturday 9th February 2019 in the League Cup semi final.

Bangor saw their Welsh Cup hopes waved away by a very poor offside call which spared Gareth Edwards a 30th minute red card for a pull on Sam Jones. And yes there was trouble - albeit outside the ground - as rival fans clashed on the streets of Upper Bangor before kick off.
City had to rule out goalkeeper Chris Mullock and centre half Sam Barnes through injury and manager Gary Taylor Fletcher opted to watch from the bench as the game got underway on a sodden Nantporth which had been made ready by the selfless efforts of a handlful of volunteers.
City started the brighter with a string of five corners in as many opening minutes but none resulted in a direct effort on goal. In fact from the fifth Caernarfon broke upfield and it took a well timed challenge from Jordan Piggott on half way to stop Danny Brookwell.
Referee Bryn Markham Jones was probably anxious not to reach for his cards too early in proceedings as he failed to punish a heavy challenge on Jake Phillips by Brookwell as the visitors seemed to single out City's right back for some robust attention.
Bangor had dominated the opening fifteen minutes which culminated in Robbie Parry slipping as he raced clear and right winger Jacob Farleigh shoot into the side netting. There was a taste of things to come on twenty minutes though as Gareth Edwards rose highest but headed wide from a Caernarfon corner. City should have gone ahead midway through the half but tall midfielder Jamie Crowther did enough to put Marc Williams off at the back post as the ginger marksman headed wide. Williams and Town goalkeeper Alex Ramsay both needed treatment with the Oswestry based glovesman sporting a bloody nose.
With the game now more even Caernarfon took the lead on 27 minutes. Former Colwyn Bay midfielder Gareth Evans passed through to Jamie Breese who was allowed the time and space to run to the left and crash home beyond Nathan Wolland from ten yards.
Moments later an overdue yellow card for another late challenge by Brookwell on Jake Phillips but Caernarfon went close to a second as Joe Williams crossed from the right but thankfully for City Brookwell smashed wide.
Then the inevitable controvesy. Robbie Parry played Sam Jones in behind the Caernarfon defence and last man Gareth Edwards pulled him down. Straight red. But an offside flag halted the inevitable and Edwards escaped, more of him later. The offside unfortunately was incorrect and the former Cefn blocker should have taken an early bath with an hour left to play.  On such fine margins..
With that escape safely tucked away the visitors continued to create chances and Darren Thomas went close before Mike Williams cleared for City.
With eight minutes left of the first half Bangor won but largely wasted a sixth corner before Sam Jones shot on target but Ramsay saved easily enough. Former blues midfielder Jamie Crowther shot on target from distance but Nathan Wolland gathered comfotably  Jamie Breese again ran down the left but this time Wolland rushed out to save.
City won a freekick for a challenge from behind by Joe Williams on Robby Parry which dropped to Sam Jones who hit the target but Ramsay saved at his near post. Sam Jones ran in behind on the right - from behind left back Craig - but was again given offside by the linesman who was wrong again.
On the brink of half time Bangor won a corner on the left dispued by goalkeeper Ramsay. Jake Phillips sent in a low right footed curler which seemed to beat everyone although Jordan Piggott and Robbie Parry both celebrated feint touches. A goal it was either way!
And that was about it with Bangor drawing level at the last, deservedly so after the interventions of the inept flag waving official.

Jake Phillips corner nestles in the net

HALF TIME 1-1
  No changes at the interval.
City now attacking the Antelope End but it was Caernarfon who forged the first opening as the impressive Gareth Evans fired at Nathan Wolland who caught cleanly.
Another foul by Gareth Edwards on the pacey Sam Jones - the fourteenth of the evening by the visitors against two by Bangor - resulted in a freekick which came to nothing.
Ten minutes into the second period Jamie Crowther fired wide from distance before Robbie Parry sent a curler off target.
On 57 minutes a first change of the evening as Noah Edwards replaced Cai Owen. And three minutes later he was able to join the celebrations as Gareth Edwards was left unmarked to head home Jamie Crowther's cross from the right.
Edwards who might so easily have been watching from the back of the stand.
City won but wasted an eighth corner of the evening before Jacob Farleigh found some time and space on the right but fired over.
On 65 minutes a yellow card for Marc Wiliams as the visitors started to dominate proceedings on the heavy pitch. A ninth corner came to nothing, Jordan Piggott was shown the yellow card for a foul on Breese before Caernarfon forced a couple of corners and introduced Sion Bradley for the combative Brookwel with ten minutes left.
Bangor fans must have wondered why City did not ring the changes and they finally did so on 82 minutes with the arrival of Gary Taylor Fletcher for Robbie Parry and five minutes later Alex Boss and Sam Dool for Jacob Farleigh and Yalany Baio respectively. In between these changes Caernarfon substitute Noah Edwards went close to increasing their lead.
For Bangor it was too late, the heavy pitch might not have suited young Boss but the sprinter's pace might have unsettled the one paced Craig had he been introduced fifteen or twenty minutes earlier. Who knows.
What is certain is that of those many changes Noah Edwards made the biggest impact as he brought a measure of calm and control to the Canaries midfield as they comfortably saw the remainder of the match out..
Into added time a yellow card for goalkeeper Ramsay for time wasting and a third and final substitution for Caernarfon as Rhys Roberts replaced Jamie Breese.
There was time for one final clumsy challenge by Crowther on Sam Jones but no foul or freekick signalled and that was about it. The visiting fans celebrated loudly and, if anything, football was the winner on a wet night which saw 2500 local supporters largely enjoy a hard fought cuptie between the two old enemies.
Repurcussions no doubt in the following days regarding the pre match fisticuffs although the vast majority of those present simply came to enjoy a game of football.
Good luck to Caernarfon in the next round? I wouldn't go quite that far...
Next game home to Gresford on Saturday

Bangor ran out clear winners in the end but were made to battle all the way against defiant Holyhead.
On a windswept Friday night at The New Oval Nathan Wolland was restored between the posts and he pulled off an early save from Mel McGinness before player manager Gary Taylor Fletcher stepped in to clear a menacing corner.
But on eleven minutes Bangor had the lead as Alex Darlington turned home Jake Phillips’ corner thanks to Sam Barnes’ guided header. The consistent Phillips has emerged as a major provider for City as the season has progressed.
Understandably this spurred the home side forward but the experienced Taylor Fletcher did well to protect his back four.
Back against his former club the pacey Alex Boss was a handful for former blues youngster Caio Hywel who was booked before another former Citizens Sam Ashworth went close for the hosts with a header from a corner.
The hard working Marc Williams went close for City on the half hour and young Sam Jones threatened but Alex Jones did well to halt his progress.
Both sides had half chances as half time beckoned but it was Jon Littlemore who went closest as he forced a good save from Nathan Wolland to preserve the lead.
There was a late caution for Alex Jones before Referee Smallman blew for the break.
City then with a slender advantage but not one they could easily rest on.

HALF TIME 0-0
No changes at the interval for either side.
Playing with the wind Holyhead and urged forward by the home support won an early corner headed goalwards by Jon Littlemore but somehow kept out by blues keeper Wolland.
On the back of this let off City doubled their lead on 53 minutes. Yalany Baio won possession in midfield and released Sam Jones whose fierce cross shot flew past Carl Jones and into the top corner.
But the dogged hosts fought back and three minutes later halved the deficit as Luke Mcgivern cut inside and fired home beyond the diving Wolland.
Bangor went close to restoring their two goal advantage as Alex Darlington crossed but Gary Taylor Fletcher headed over.
Left footer Mike Williams went close, then leading goalscorer Alex Darlington crashed a free kick into the Holyhead defensive wall before Hotspur forced a couple of corners.
With twenty minutes left on the clock Jacob Farleigh replaced Alex Boss, City went close from a low corner before Nathan Wolland saved well from Mel McGinness.
Then with 79 minutes played Bangor went 3-1 ahead. A  long throw from Jake Phillips unsettled the home defence, Gary Taylor Fletcher found Marc Williams who beat Carl Jones back to goal.
Two minutes later a Bangor debut for recent signing Jamie Menagh who replaced Mosta bound Alex Darlington.
City had a "goal" disallowed for offside but on 86 minutes it was all over as substitute Jacob Farleigh headed home from Anthony Stephens left wing cross.
As time ran out Robbie Parry trotted on for Taylor Fletcher and the winger created a chance for Sam Jones but he fired narrowly wide.
And that was about it, a hard fought win for City with the defence tested by Hotspurs and the City front men taking their chances.

Bangor gained a measure of revenge for a defeat at Central Park in August as they swept aside depleted Denbigh at Nantporth.
Depleted though largely due to ill discipline with rugged centreback Tony Davies amongst the absentees. For City young Gruff Evans continued in goal with teenage wingers Alex Boss and Sam Jones tasked with unhinging the reds defence.
But it was the visitors who fired a couple of early warning shots as Sam Jones and then Alieu Sherieff went close.
Bangor settled and with Yalany Baio again prominent in midfield forced a series of corners which saw Miles Todd at full stretch at the heart of the Denbigh defence. On ten minutes a fifth blues corner was headed goalwards by Sam Barnes but goalkeeper Craig Vernon gathered.
On fifteen minutes a foul on right winger Alex Boss yielded a freekick which Sam Jones got his head to first but flew over the crossbar. Next Gary Taylor Fletcher fired over before on 17 minutes a first corner for Denbigh who employed the "crowd the keeper" tactice but sent the flag kick strraight out of play.
With twenty minutes gone City had the lead. Jake Phillips sent over the sixth corner of the evening, Sam Barnes and Alex Darlington had efforts blocked but Mike Williams headed home from six yards.
Bangor were now playing with confidence and Taylor Fletcher, Sam Jones and Marc Williams combined to tee up Yalany Baio but his shot cleared the crossbar. Three minutes later the lively Boss beat his man but Vernon saved his low drive.
Ten minutes before the interval a great save from Vernon as Gary Taylor Fletcher chipped the keeper after his initial effort struck the upright but the glovesman raced back to save.
Midfielder Stuart Vernon threatened for Denbigh as he cut in from the right but Gruff Evans dealt confidently with his goalbound effort. Two minutes before the interval a yellow card for Ashely Stephens for a mistimed challenge but City regained the initiative as Sam Jones and Marc Williams both went close.
The final action of note was a good challenge by Mike Williams to concede a corner for the visitors who again attempted to block the goalkeeper but Taylro Fletcher cleared and the half ended with City a goal to the good.
  All to play for...

HALF TIME 1-0
  No changes at the interval
Bangor once again in the box seat but Denbigh defending stubbornly with Miles Todd and his young charges determined to give nothing away.
Ten minutes after the restart a foul on Marc Williams brought a freekick which Aled Darlington fired golawards but Vernon again saved well. On the hour mark an all too familiar yellow card for Yalany Baio for comments passed to the referee. Moments later the ever dangerous Sam Jones fired over.
On 63 minutes it was two nil for Bangor. Gary Taylor Fletcher found Sam Jones whose shot was well saved by Vernon but Aled Boss stabbed home from close range.
Denbigh responded with a double change as Chandon Gioacchini and Paul Williams came on for Sam Jones and Dan Lloyd.
But on 65 minutes it mattered not as Sam Jones made it three nil after Gary Taylor Fletcher slid the ball through for the young striker to slide home.
And two minutes later with just 67 on the clock it was four as Sam Jones crashed the ball into the roof of the net after great work from Marc Williams.
With the situation starting to get desperate for Denbigh Bailey Jackson was booked for a foul before on 70 minutes Sam Dool came on for the impressive Yalany Baio.
Dool was quickly into the action as he picked out Sam Joines but Vernon saved. With fifteen minutes to go another injury to a goalkeeper as the clumsy Sherieff clattered young Gruff Evans was received a yellow card for his efforts. on 77 minutes Evans had to be replaced by Nathan Wolland.
On 82 minutes Alex Boss made way for Jacob Farleigh and Denbigh sent on Sion Jones for Stuart Vernon. Bangor kept pressing for a fifth goal as Mike Williams saw his header hit the crossbar from a late corner.
Into added time and a fifth goal finally arrived to Aled Darlington turned in Jake Phillips cross after good approach play involving Jacob Farleigh on the right.
And that was about it, an emphatic home win all the more enjoyable for the presence of the three teenagers, one of whom kept a clean sheet and the other two both scored.

Bangor beat battling Buckley thanks to two late second half goals after leading goalscorer Aled Darlington missed a first half penalty.
With Jordan Piggott and Sam Dool laid low by a midlands flu the starting Bangor line up included Gruff Evans in goal but otherwise was seasoned enough, whilst the substitutes bench had a very youthful hue. Most of whom were to play a part in that dramatic finale.
Attacking the changing room end at The Globe Bangor went close early on, Jacob Farleigh cut in from the right but fired straight at Joe Makaruk. Buckley responded with a corner which midfielder Josh Jones lifted high over Gruff Evans’ crossbar. To a certain degree this was the pattern of the first half.
On ten minutes Bangor were awarded a penalty as Gary Taylor Fletcher ran into the box and was brought down by Joe Makaruk. A yellow card for the tall glovesman but he was a hero moments later with a comfortable save from a weak Alex Darlington spot kick. For Buckley fans who had voiced their criticism of the penalty decision the shout was now justice...
Bangor continued to push the home side back, Mike Williams fired over before rightback Josh Gannon was shown a yellow card for a crude trip on Alex Darlington.
Midway through the half a double chance for City as Darlington saw his shot blocked and moments later Makaruk did well to deny Jacob Farleigh.
On the half hour a yellow card for leftback Anthony Stephens for a foul on Aaron Williams. Buckley could make nothing of the freekick though and moments later Alex Darlington fired on target from outside the box but the calm Makaruk gathered once more.
Yalany Baio and Gary Taylor Fletcher had control in midfield and frustration might have provoked the foul on the former Leicester schemer by Josh Jones which earned him a yellow card.
The final action of the first half was a Buckley corner which came to nothing and referee Livesey blew for the break with City fans contemplating the missed penalty and weak shots on goal.

Big Joe Makaruk guesses correctly a saves Alex Darlington's penalty

HALF TIME 0-0
  No changes at the interval.
The second half carried on in the same pattern as the first with Bangor controlling the ball and playing some neat passing moves emanating from Taylor Fletcher and Baio and involving pretty much every outfield player.
Yalany Baio forced a good save from Makaruk as Robbie Parry began to find more time and space to trouble the home defenders.
Right winger Jacob Farleigh sent over a high cross which dropped to Alex Darlington but his effort was blocked and pounced on by Makaruk. Credit the home centreback pairing of Callum Humphries and Lewis Done who stood up to the examination without resorting to illegal measures.
City deserved something to show for their efforts but when Gary Taylor Fletcher hit the side netting from a tight angle it seemed a goalless draw was the likely outcome. Moments later the blues player manager raced through and saw his shot pushed over by Makaruk but referee Livesey gave a goalkick and yellow carded Taylor Fletcher for his complaints.
With twenty minutes to go City sent on Sam Jones for Robbie Parry whilst Buckley introduced Connor Littler. Jones offered something different with his runs into the channel which made life more difficult for the big defenders.
The game changed, with Jones very much involved and City exploiting a hitherto unseen apprehension in goalkeeper Makaruk who seemed reluctant to come for high crosses. Or Bangor found a way to launch crosses over him. Either way Jake Phillips with a string of corners, crosses and long throws was his tormentor in chief.
Fittingly it was Phillips whose high corner from the left evaded everyone, Sam Barnes headed back across goal and Marc Williams flicked home at the near post for a well deserved  76th minute lead.
On 83 minutes former Bangor favourite Chris Roberts trotted on whilst young Alex Boss replaced Alex Darlington who may be Malta bound.
On 85 minutes it was two nil as Marc Williams unsettled the home defence before passing to substitute Sam Jones who took his time before slotting home from fifteen yards and celebrating pitchside with a very proud father.
In the closing minutes Gethin Thomas came on for goalscorer Williams and with the young goalkeeper, midfielder and forwards enjoying the afternoon City ran out clear winners. Alex Boss forced one final save from the impressive Makaruk as he enjoyed his late runout.
So a clean sheet for a confident Gruff Evans, well shielded by Sam Barnes, Mike Williams and co, a good passing display on the difficult Globe pitch and a late clincher for young Sam Jones.
All in all a good afternoon.

Bangor finished off 2018 with a disappointing home defeat against mid table Guilsfield who struck twice after the interval after agoalless first half.
City boss Gary Taylor Fletcher included himself in the starting line up for the first time since he rejoined the club. With both Mike Williams and Anthony Stephens mising there was a recall for Yalany Baio whilst Sam Dool also started. There was also a home debut for goalkeeper Nathan Wolland.
Clearly those absences left the potential for defensive frailties and so it proved.
The first goal threat came from Guilsfield but blues captain Sam Barnes was on hand to clear the danger. Gradually City gained the initiative with Marc Willaims and Jacob Farleigh looking to break behind The Gills defence.
City had to wait until the quarter hour mark to have their first shot on target as Gary Taylor Fletcher tried to fox visting goalkeeper Mike Jones but the former Denbigh glovesman was up to the task. Moments later the player manager got his head to a Bangor freekick but skewed his effort wide. Next Jacob Farleigh tried his luck from wide out but the ball sped across the goal.
With around 25 minutes gone Sam Dool lifted the ball over the visitors defence for Jacob Farleigh to latch onto but he fired over. Then Alex Darlington shot wide from distance. Minutes later City had to settle for a corner when loud shouts for a penalty were waved away after a goalmouth scramble in the Guilsfield box.
On the half hour City rattled the woodwork before Jake Phillips' inviting cross was just out of the reach of leading scorer Alex Darlington and was cleared by the visitors. Guilsfield were still posing a threat and forced a corner which Gary Taylor Fletcher cleared.
Next up a freekick to the blues for a foul on Alex Darlington but the spot kick cannoned into the wall. Moments later another corner for the visitors, City concede a second flag kick which has to be hacked to safety by Marc Williams after some uncertainty in the home defence.
And that was about the final action of note as the whistle blew on a goalless first half which saw City have the greater share of possession but Guilsfield come closest to breaking the deadlock.
  All to play for...

HALF TIME 0-0
No changes at the interval but with City now attacking the Bangor end.
But the game to a turn for the worst from a Bangor point of view on fifty minutes.
Goalkeeper Nathan Wolland did well to keep out a goalbound effort but from the resulting corner he dropped the ball for centreback Sam Litchfield to rush in and put the visitors ahead.
Five minutes later it got worse for City as Jake Phillips lost possession and former Newtown striker Steve Blenkinsop ran clear to double the lead.
Bangor had to do something and manager Gary Taylor Fletcher brought on Les Davies and  Sam Jones in place of Marc Williams and Alex Darlington.
However it was the visitors who might have gone three up but for an instinctive stop from blues 'keeper Nathan Wolland. City tried to respond by Jake Phillips cross was beyond the reach of Gary Taylor Fletcher.
With 20 minutes left to play Sam Dool saw his volley just clear the Guilsfield crossbar before the visitors countered at speed and forced Nathan Wolland into a good one on one stop.
With just ten minutes left substitute Les Davies got the better of a couple of defenders but could not hit the target. Then Davies turned provider with a cross headed over by Sam Barnes but the offside flag was already up.
In the final minute of the ninety Robbie Parry was unlucky to see his goalbound effort deflected for a corner which in turn came to nothing.
For City it was about the last roll of the dice and mnutes later the visitors claimed a memorable victory on their first ever visit to Bangor, be that Nantporth or Farrar Road. It would be churlish to say they did not deserve the win for their second half performance.
For Gary Taylor Fletcher the defensive frailties which sparked concerns before kick off came home to roost.
Next game at Buckley on Saturday 5th January 2018.

Bangor won at Porthmadog on a grey cloudy afternoon illuminated by a fine second half solo goal from substitute Sam Dool.
With Yalany Baio ruled out City switched Jordan Piggott to right back to allow Sam Barnes to parnter Mike Williams in central defence. The ever dependable Anthony Stephens filled the left back berth.
But it was midfielder Jake Phillips who caught the eye as he put in a remarkable non stop display in a midfield which was at times over run by their home counterparts.
Porthmadog forged the first two openings as Shaun Cavanagh headed off target from an Ifan Emlyn corner before Dan Dascalu fired a low raking drive which forced a fine save from Chris Mullock who still needed the help of his right hand upright before seeing the ball crash out for a corner on the opposite side.
If the home side had enjoyed the majority of the opening spell it was Bangor who scored first on twelve minutes.
Alex Darlington lifted the ball over the Port defence and Marc Williams capitialised on a moments hesistation from Paul Pritchard to slot home from close range.
City won a freekick for a wild challenge by leftback Josh Banks on Jordan Piggott which in turn led to a couple of corners at the carpark end but with no real threat. The Port midfield built around Ifan Emlyn and Dan Dascalu had the edge whilst centrebacks Ceri James and Iddon Price were allowed too much time by Bangor.
On the half hour Gruff John Williams had a shot blocked and then headed weakly on target before Shaun Cavanagh tried to catch Chris Mullock off his line but failed to clear the retreating glovesman. Two minutes later a golden opportunity for rightback Gruff John Williams but he missed the target from four yards out. Paul Pritchard saved comfortably from Les Davies.
But if City were riding their luck it quickly ran out as goalkeeper Chris Mullock sank to the floor and despite the best efforts of the magic sponge man, had to be replaced on 35 minutes by debutant Nathan Wolland who has arrived from Accrington Stanley.
The 22 year replacement cut a nervous figure at first as Port forced a fifth corner of the afternoon but gradually gained composure and settled behind the no nonesense blues back four.
Jacob Farleigh lashed his shot into the side netting before Port won a sixth corner which Bangor dealt with. At the end of the half louds penalty shouts for City as Jacob Farleigh saw his shot blocked by the arms of a home defender but referee Smallman ruled his hands were by his side.
So a slender lead for City to take in at the interval.
City celebrate the opening goal

HALF TIME 0-1
No changes at the interval for City but Port introduced former Bangor favourite Sion Edwards for Rob Evans.
City now defending the car park end on a still December afternoon at Y Traeth.
A weak shot from Les Davies was comfortable enough for Paul Prtichard. Next a yellow card for right back Gruff John Williams for a poor challenge on Jacob Farleigh.
Ten minutes after the restart a further change for Port as Tomos Emlyn Jones joined his brother Ifan on the pitch as the expense of former blue Shaun Cavanagh. Bangor broke through the midfield but two home players committed evident fouls although only Sion Edwards had his  name taken by Referee Smallman.
On 66 minutes a second change for Bangor as Sam Dool replaced Alex Darlington and brought some stablilty to the blues midfield.
Substitute Sion Edwards made an impact on the attacking left and sent over a couple of dangerous low crosses and saw a shot on target saved by goalkeeper Wolland.
On 76 minutes a roar from the blues fans as Gary Taylor Fletcher made his return debut in place of Les Davies. The former Leicester striker immediately instilled a calm and order into the blue ranks whose control of the game increased markedly.
And five minutes later on 82 the changes worked as Sam Dool ran through the midfield and then at the backpeddling defence to beat Paul Pritchard via a clear deflection. A touch of fortune in the final action but a tremendous surging run that left the home defence flat footed.
Although the Port players did not give up the ghost the certainly seemed to lack the conviction that they could score twice in the small amount of time remaining and so it proved.
Port won a late corner which came to nothng, Robbie Parry ran across the edge of the box from left to right before he was flattened by the right hand corner flag. Freekick but no yellow card from the inept whistler who seemed at times to be tossing a coin before deciding which way to point. In fairness he was poor for both sides.
At the final whistle a close fought win made all the sweeter by news of defeats for Flint and Rhyl against Holywell and Prestatyn respectively.
Guilsfield at home next Saturday at one o clock..

Bangor raced to a two goal lead against visitors Holywell and with four goal Alex Darlington in deadly form never looked like losing that early advantage.
Attacking The Antelope End in the first period City did so with  eighteen year old Gruff Evans impressing in goal on his full debut.
Early goals were what the City supporters wanted and on a cold Nantporth night and that is what they got.
Inside two minutes all action right back Jake Phillips released winger Robbie Parry whose inviting cross was headed beyond goalkeeper Mike Platt by leading goalscorer Alex Darlington to set the home side in motion.
Five minutes later former Caernarfon goalkeeper Platt denied Les Davies but Alex Darlington was on hand to slot home the rebound.  The Wellmen though were not for giving up and two minutes later they halved the deficit..
The lively Aaron Pomeyie passed to Matty Harvey on the left and his cross beat all and sundry to nestle in the Bangor net. Moments later a test of the courage of new referee Dan Fogerty who had to rule on a wild challenge by Sam Jones on young Gruff Evans. With City fans calling for red the former WNL official opted for yellow.
Around the twenty minute mark Mike Williams was fouled but Sam Dool fired over from distance before Robbie Parry raced into the Holywell box and appeared to be stopped unfairly but again Mr Fogerty was not in agreeement. With City in control via the midfield pairing of Yalany Baio and Sam Dool the chances kept coming with Alex Darlington shooting wide off Robbie Parr's cross from the right.
On the half hour a blues corner was half cleared to Sam Dool but his effort was charged down before Steve Lewis threatened for the Wellmen but Gruff Evans was up to the task with a clean save. City won and wasted a corner before Lewis again forged a chance but the home defence stood firm.
As time ran out at the end of the first half Alex Darlington again had a shot charged down and a final chance for Steve Lewis but he dragged his shot wide.
So a two one half time lead for the blues but a game still very much in the balance.

HALF TIME 2-1
  No changes at the interval.
The first action of the second period was a rising drive from Alex Darlington which rose too much before Jordan Piggott stepped in to thwart the charging Lewis.
Holywell fashioned a chance next as Pomeyie found Sam Jones who in turn set up Steve Lewis but he fired just over Evans' crossbar. City responded as Sam Dool controlled right winger Robbie Parry's cross but Alex Darlington fired too close to goalkeeper Platt.
Both Yalany Baio and Robbie Parry went close for City but the lead remained a slender one. Holywell sent on Ryan Jones for Zebb Edwards.
Then on 65 minutes Bangor had a third goal as Alex Darlington headed home for his hatrick and to restore the two goal buffer.
Holywell responded with a double substitution as Shaun Tuck and John Robertson came on for Josh Maldon and Aaron Pomeyie respectively. City sent on Jacob Farleigh for a weary Yalany Baio. And it was the visitors changes that sparked some danger as Gruff Evans had to be alert to rush out and clear as Lewis ran on goal.
On 72 minutes it was four one and just about all over as Jacob Farleigh's cross was turned home by Alex Darlington for his fourth goal of the season. A third four goal haul of the season for the freescoring striker. City sent fit again defender Sam Barnes on in place of Jordan Piggott.
With fifteen minutes to go a Bangor corner was half cleared to Robbie Parry who volleyed home to make the scoreline five one. Jake Phillips fired over from distance as City kept pushing for a sixth goal before on 83 minutes Sam Jones came on for Les Davies who had given the visitors defence a difficult evening.
But it was Holywell who had the last word four minutes from time as Shaun Tuck squared the ball to Matty Harvey who long range effort flew into the roof the Bangor net. A second goal of the evenng for the former Flint left footer.
It was to prove little more than a consolation as Bangor forced a flurry of late corners but could not breach the Holywell defence.
So five two it finished and an entertaining night for the sparse crowd at a chilly Nantporth.
Next game at Porthmadog on Boxing Day.

Bangor were comfortable winners over a hard working Holyhead who could not cope with the goalscoring threat of Alex Darlington and co.
City had goalkeeper Chris Mullock out through injury, Sam Barnes likewise whilst Marc Williams was suspended. Jacob Farleigh was also injured.
All of which meant a recall for fit again Anthony Stephens with Sam Dool and Alex Boss also coming in whilst a change of shape saw a back four reinstated which may well the GTF way.
Bangor forced the early openings as Robbie Parry fired over from distance before Les Davies just failed to control a Parry cross minutes later. At the quarter hour mark Alex Boss raced clear but could not keep the ball under control and the chance slipped away.
City had a grip on proceedings with Sam Dool and Yalany Baio dominant in midfield.
Either side of the half hour mark two more chances as Yalany Baio fired high and wide bfore Robbie Parry picked out Alex Darlington but he shot over.
Ten minutes before the interval Anthony Stephens' long ball found Les Davies but his header sliced wide.
Centreback Jordan Piggott ran through but sent his powerful strike narrowly wide. Ashley Stephens again delivered a cross which was headed own by Les Davies but Alex Darlington fired wide.
Then on 41 minutes City had the lead. Alex Boss charged upfield but Holyhead conceded a throw in which Jake Phillips hurled into the box for Alex Darlington to prod home from six yards.
In the closing minutes of the first period some anxious moments for young Dan Williams whose dad Merfyn was amongst the Holyhead substitutues. First he spilt a Les Davies shot but the ball was scrambled away. Then Robbie Parry fired in a freekick which the young glovesman could not gather but again the danger passed.
In fairness the youngster stood up to an Airbus onslaught the week before as Carl Jones served a suspension. He could hardly have faced a sterner examination in his first two outings.
Into added time a yellow card for Mel McGinness who might have seen red for a wild challenge on Yalany Baio.
So a slender but deserved lead for City but with the visitors still very much in the game.

HALF TIME 1-0
  No changes at the interval.
City picked up where they left off with a couple of early corners before on 56 minutes they doubled the lead.
Again the scorer was Alex Darlington who latched onto Les Davies' lay off to drive home from the edge of the box.
Moments later - on the hour mark - it was three nil and all over bar the shouting as Mel McGinness sliced the ball to Robbie Parry whose curler left young Williams with little chance.
The next action saw a yellow card for leftpeg Kenleigh Owen for a foul on young Alex Boss who was with Hotspur last season.
On 65 minutes Les Davies and Robbie Parry combined on the attacking left, Davies' cross is headed wide by Alex Darlington. But moments later, on 67 minutes, plucky Holyhead pulled on back as former Bangor and Cardiff \Met striker John Littlemore got in behind the blues defence to beat Lee Bulmer with a calm finish. This visibly lifted the islanders but they could not seriously threaten the blues goal despite upping the tempo.
The pacey Alex Boss was still unsettling the visitors defence and Alex Jones was next into the referee's book as he resorted to desperate measures to halt his progress.
As a result Boss was replaced by Sam Jones on 75 minutes and three minutes later it was four one as former blues midfielder Corey Jones was tackled by the hard working Les Davies who set up Robbie Parry whose curler again left Williams with little hope.
Two minutes later young Gethin Thomas came on for Yalany Baio who had run himself ragged. A welcome return for the young midfielder following his shoulder injury absence.
Left back Kenleigh Owen tried his luck for Holyhead but sent his effort high and wide.
But Bangor's goalkeeping woes continued as Nikki Lee Bulmer was unable to continue. Young Gruff Evans trotted on for his first team debut with some ten minutes to see out.
And credit to the academy stopper he kept a clean sheet for the remainder of the match as City ran out four one winners and got their name into the hat for the fourth round draw.
Some injury worries for manager Gary Taylor Fletcher to contemplate but a proud moment for the six academy youngsters who were involved, it is hard to remember when two such young goalkeepers would have been on the field at the end of a first team fixture.
Next game home to Holywell on Friday 14th December

Bangor lost at Belle Vue. Undeservedly perhaps on the balance of play and chances but if you defend badly and waste good opportunities defeat is the likely outcome. Not the start new manager Taylor Fletcher would have wanted but with the league season effectively over he has time to plan and rebuild.
City stuck with the team which had beaten a poor Prestatyn side a week earlier and kicked off attacking the Grange Road (Social Club) end.
They might have been surprised by the energy and workrate of a committed Rhyl side for whom the veteran Matthew Cook excelled in midfield alongside youngsters Joe Sullivan and Aaron Hassall.
Maverick referee Nick Pratt, sporting a Movember Moustache, upset the blues followers by awarding the home side an early corner which his linesman had not seen. But it was Bangor who fired the first warning shot as Robbie Parry burst in from the right but blazed over.
Referee Pratt was the centre of attention moments later as Les Davies' inadvertently poleaxed Max Peate with a very high foot. It seemed unintentional and the official flashed yellow when red was a real fear.
On the quarter hour the best chance of the match so far for Rhyl as Mike Pritchard headed over at the back post from Aaron Hassall's cross. Five minutes later left wing back Jacob Farleigh fired a shot against the woodwork.
But on 24 minutes the hosts went ahead. Jordan Piggott did well to block an intial effort from James Murphy but the former Newtown winger crashed home the rebound from eight yards. Murphy can be inconsistent but on his day he is The Lilywhites chief attacking threat, and so it proved.
City won a freekick as Reece Fairhurst was carded for a foul on Alex Darlington which the former Wrexham man claimed but fired wide. Bangor had a couple of corners which came to nothing as the home sdie continued to graft in midfield. Some comments amongst City fans about the state of the Belle Vue pitch. Without doubt City will not play on a better surface outside Nantporth for the next four or five months. Read into that what you will. The blues also won and wasted a couple of long range freekicks largely through poor delivery.
Three minutes before the break a Rhyl freekick just inside the Bangor half led to a City breakaway led by Alex Darlington but Fairhurst did well to recover on the edge of his box and the chance fizzled out.
So a half time deficit for blues boss Gary Taylor Fletcher to contemplate. City had been unsettled by the hard working Rhyl youngsters in midfield and allowed Matty Cook far too much time and space. He needed ratting out but the customary ratter-in-chief Yalany Baio was strangely subdued.
Could the words of wisdom from the new manager raise the bar for City after the break...

HALF TIME 1-0
  No changes at the interval.
City took the game by the scruff of the neck and should have been level inside ten minutes if not sooner.
A high ball down the left to Les Davies was headed on for Jacob Farleigh to cross but Robbie Parry headed over. Then a slip by Mac Peate let Alex Darlington in on goal but he fired weakly at Hill Dunt. On 52 minutes Marc Williams fashioned a cross from the right but Alex Darlington this time headed wide.
With that initial onslaught survived Rhyl pushed forwards and the veteran Cook shot towards the near post from the right but Bulmer saved well, the resulting corner was cleared.
City won a fourth corner of the afternoon which resulted in Marc Williams having his effort cleared off the line. Next a yellow card for Robbie Parry who was out of sorts on the right.
Alex Darlington again failed to convert a decent chance as he scuffed his shot on goal, but moments later Rhyl might have doubled their advantage as a sliced clearance from goalkeeper Bulmer fell invitingly for Gareth Partridge but the heavily tattoed midfielder fired well wide from distance.
On 59 minutes a first change for City as Sam Jones replaced Jacob Farleigh. This seems to co-incide with a change of shape as Jake Phillips slotted in at rightback, Jones in front of him, Marc Williams to leftback and Parry to left wing. Rhyl won and largely wasted a third corner of the evening.
Five minutes later the lively Jones got on the end of a good passing move from City but his shot on target lacked any real conviction. On 69 minutes former blue Joe Culshaw came on for Aaron Hassall who had worked hard in midfield.  Moments later a high cross from Marc Williams out on the right cleared Hill Dunt but Robbie Parry fired narrowly wide and across goal.
Rhyl replaced Gareth Partridge with former Denbigh schemer Kristian Pearce on 73 minutes as they prepared to take to take their fourth corner.
But on 75 minutes City deservedly drew level. Substitute Sam Jones got the better of Joe Culshaw on the right, fired goalwards and although Hill Dunt saved he could do nothing to prevent Alex Darlington from crashing home from six yards.
A yellow card for a weary Mike Pritchard for a foul on Jordan Piggott but next a freekick from Rhyl some fourty yards out to the left. City made a fine hash of clearing the danger and defender Max Peate guided the ball wide of Bulmer to the delight of the Rhyl fans at the Grange End.
Bangor promptly sent on Alex Boss for Les Davies who in fairness had led the line well. Boss took a left wing position. Rhyl replaced Mike Pritchard with Liam Chambers.
Boss immediately got the better of rightback Owen and sent over a tempting low cross which no one in blue anticipated. A sign that luck was well and truly against City came moments later as Mike Williams crossed from the left and watched in agony as the ball again hit the woodwork and bounced to safety.
A yellow card for Jordan Piggott was followed by Jake Phillips long throw down the right which led to a corner. The ensuing cross was punched away virtually from under his own crossbar and City were done. Owen, Murphy and Chambers had half chances for Rhyl as five minutes of added time were played out without serious threat on Dunt's goal.
Defeat for City, the end of a long winning sequence, luckless perhaps but credit The Lilywhites for their attitude and application from start to finish.
Holyhead in the Welsh Cup on Friday night...

Bangor swept to a comfortable  win over strugglers Prestatyn who are involved in a real relegation dogfight to avoid a second successive demotion.
And the blues did so in what proved to be caretaker manager Steve Vaughan's last game in charge before he moved to Mosta of Malta.
The visitors, once again under the guidance of Neil Gibson, forced a couple of early chances with Ian Griffiths and Alex Jones prominent and debutant goalkeeper Nikki Lee Bulmer denying Danny Davies.
But on eleven minutes City took the lead and never looked back.
A freekick from the right delivered by Jake Phillips was headed home by Mike Williams at the back post for his first goal since joining the club. A mention too for the versatile Philips who impressed in midfield and on set pieces.
Jacob Farleigh caused some uncertainty with a dangerous cross which stretched the visitors defence but five minutes after the first goal along came a second. This time it was Marc Williams who copied his brother's exploits with a well placed header from a Farleigh cross for his fourth goals in successive games. Both Farleigh and Robbie Parry were proving hard to handle for the Prestatyn defence.
Moments later Jake Phillips fired over from distance but the visitors rallied as goalkeeper Bulmer saved well from Alex Jones.
Then a bizarre moment as Robbie Parry sent a 30 yarder crashing into the back of the net for what looked for all the Wolrd like a third goal for City. But the referee disallowed the goal, and brought play back for a freekick to City!
Midway through the half another Bangor freekick delivered by Phillips was headed just over by Sam Barnes. Then on the half hour a Robbie Parry cross was headed wide by Les Davies but the big number nine soon regathered the ball and crashed his effort wide of the target.
As half time drew closer there were yellow cards for Yalany Baio and Alex Jones as the tackles got heavier.
City forced a late corner which Phillips sent over, regathered but fired over the crossbar. One final chance fell to Jacob Farleigh but he could not hit the target and the whistle blew on a comfortable first half for City and a clean sheet so far for the debutant goalkeeper,
  So far so good.

HALF TIME 2-0
  No changes at the interval.
The visitors forged an early opening which recent signing Oli Buckley could not quite convert. Then blues keeper Nikki Lee Bulkmer saved well from Ian Griffiths and Alex Jones in quick succession.
Jordan Piggott was next into the referee's little black book as the visitors pushed desperately for a breakthrough. But when a goal did come it was a third for Bangor.
A well placed through ball from Robbie Parry was picked up by Jacob Farleigh who ran through to slide theball beyond Ryan Roberts who was on City's books a decade ago. The goal timed at 66 minutes.
Four minutes later a first change for City as Sam Dool trotted on in place of the impressive Jake Phillips who had enjoyed a run in midfield. Prestatyn sent on Nathanial Hulme for debutant Warren Adam.
The game had gradually run out of steam as the three nil scoreline realistically ended any chance of a Prestatyn fightback. The referee had to deal with some niggly fouls on both sides.
Both sides then used all remaining substitutes with first Sam Jones and later Cian Williams coming on for Alex Darlington and Robbie Parry respectively. The prolific Jones was quickly into the action but he fluffed his lines as the goal beckoned. Young Williams came on for his first team debut, another product of the academy set up and previouly of Felinheli.
Prestatyn also sent on a couple more subs in the form of Macauley Taylor and Casey Faulkner but to no avail as City ran out comfortable winners and sent departing manager Vaughan off with nine straight win since he replaced Craig Harrison.
An impressive win for City, perhaps overshadowed by events off the field, but certainly this group of players have bonded into a strong well organised outfit who have a variety of goal threats and a strong defence.
Next game at Rhyl on Friday night..

This was a comprehensive win for City - in the end. A couple of late goals put a touch of gloss on a closely fought game which featured another four goal salvo from Wrexham based striker Alex Darlington.
Before kick off an immacutely observed silence in remembrance of those who have fallen in service of their country.
And then to the action. With Steven Hewitt having been deported to Australia (good luck Steve!) Sam Dool earned a starting berth in a now familiar 3-5-2 formation led by Les Davies and the very much in form Alex Darlington.
The visitors, urged on by a large contingent in the family stand, forged an early opening but Alex Williams headed over at the back post. The Jordan Piggott fired well over at The Antelope End on what was a bright sunny Nantporth afternoon.
Jacob Farleigh crossed from the left but Alex Darlington guided his effort too close to Cefn keeper Josh Roberts. Moments later City pressed again as Roberts saved well from Farleigh and from the resulting corner Marc Williams headed over.
Then on 19 minutes disaster for Bangor as a slip by Sam Barnes let in Conner Kendrick and his calm as you like finish left Chris Mullock without a chance to put Cefn a goal up. The hundred or so noisy Albion fans now went wild as they celebrated not just the goal but a real whiff of an upset.
But Bangor had other ideas on two minutes later the scores were level as Les Davies set up Alex Darlington who side footed home from ten yards.
City were now in control and on 26 minutes they forced their Welsh National league visitors back once again for Les Davies to set up Alex Darlington for his second of the afternoon. With the wind in their sails City swept forward and Josh Roberts did very well to deny Jake Phillips twice in quick succession as he cut in from the right. On the half hour Les Davies controlled a high ball, turned and lashed the ball agonisingly into the side netting from the left.
Then on 31 minutes a foul on the two goal striker led to a clear penalty awarded by Mr Geraghty which Alex Darlington duly dispatched for his hatrick to make it three one to City. The remainder of the first half became a bit disjointed with City comfortably clear. A foul on Sam Dool needed attention whilst Yalany Baio went into the referee's book for a challenge from behind on half way.
Credit to the Albion defence where Nick Jones and Paul Griffiths stood firm and dealt with Les Davies and co under difficult circumstances.
The link up between Les Davies and Alex Darlington created an opportunity for a fourth for the in form striker but Josh Roberts was out bravely to dive at his feet.
But there were on more goals to report and at the interval Bangor led three one with that Alex Darlington hatrick a response to Kendrick's opener and to the chants of "Wrexham reject" booming from the family stand.
Les Davies and Marc Williams congratulate Alex Darlington - The Citizens Choice

HALF TIME 3-1
  No changes at the interval.
The first action of the second period was a Cefn corner which City cleared and a yellow card for No 8 Kien Morris for a foul on Baio.
Ten minutes after the restart a freekick just outside the box which Alex Darlington placed perfectly beyond the reach of Roberts for his fourth of the afternoon to put City four one to the good. That made it four goals in successive games for Darlington, a feat seldom recorded by a Bangor player in living memory.
Cefn made a change as Kien Morris was replaced by striker Oliver Davies and minutes later Robbie Parry came on for Yalany Baio. With City fans expecting an easy time in the second half Cefn had other ideas and it took a goalline clearance from Sam Barnes to make amends for his earlier slip with a vital goal line clearance. With twenty minutes of the second half gone Albion went close again as Chris Mullock saved well but could only watch as the ball rolled out to Alex Williams who sent his rasping drive over the crossbar.
Left winger Jordan Williams was the pick of the visitors attacking forays but his shot was comfortably saved by Mullock. Still the noisy Cefn supporters kept up their singing and chanting and their team rose to the encouragement. It has to be said that the well humoured horde delivered the best away support seen at Nantporth for many years.
With fifteen minutes left to play Alex Boss came on for Sam Dool with Marc Williams slotting into midfield. Spurred forward Robbie Parry sent a vicious shot on target but Josh Roberts pulled off a top class save to deny him.
With ten minutes left on the clock Zac Davies came on for Alex Williams and then Sam Jones replaced four goal hero Alex Darlington. But it was Cefn who maintained their determined defiance with a well hit shot from left footer Jordan Williams which flew just over. Moments later a harsh yellow card from fussy referee Geraghty shown to Jordan Piggott for a handball which never was.
But in the final minute City made it five as Alex Boss used his electrifying pace to send a cross over from the right which fell to Robbie Parry who blasted home. Harsh on the visitors perhaps but it got worse moments later as Marc Williams nipped in behind the Albion defence to lift theball over Josh Roberts for a sixth and final goal.
Full credit to the Welsh National League side and their excellent supporters, a far cry from the handful of weary souls witnessed at Nantporth in recent seasons.
So City book a place in Monday night's Third Round draw.
Next game away home to Prestatyn on Friday 23rd November.

Bangor ran out emphatic winners over Llanrhaeadr on a damp gloomy afternoon at Nantporth.
City gave a debut to midweek signing Mike Williams in a back three as the experienced left footer slotted in alongside Sam Barnes and Jordan Piggot making his home debut.
But it was one of more established players Alex Darlington who stole the show with a four goal salvo including a second half hatrick.
The visitors went close in the opening minutes as former Bangor U19s player Khyam Whytton shot wide from the edge of the box. But in the sixth minute City took the lead through Jordan Piggott who marked his home bow in style with a volley from the edge of the box after a corner was half cleared.
Just after the quarter hour mark Jake Phillips saw his cross carry beyond everyone to make it two nil - his second in two games - and the pattern for the afternoon was now clearly established as Steven Hewitt and Yalany Baio took a grip of the midfield to push the villagers back towards their own goal.
A third goal duly arrived on 27 minutes, the first of the afternoon from Alex Darlington.who headed home from Jacob Farleigh's left wing cross.
Credit to the visitors who fought a brave rearguard action and in particular goalkeeper Jimmy Hayns who worked overtime to deny City as the pressure grew.
So a clear three nil advantage for City at the break with every chance of adding to the tally.

HALF TIME 3-0
  No changes at the interval.
The visitors came out with a positive approach but could not seriously trouble Chris Mullock who was well protected by the three man rearguard.
And on 51 minutes Alex Darlingotn passed to  Jacob Farleigh who cut in from the left and beat a couple of defenders before he bent the ball inside the far upright.
Fifteen minutes later Bangor went five nil ahead as Alex Darlington got his second of the afternoon from close range.
Moments later Robbie Parry trotted on in place of Les Davies as City made the first change of the afternoon. Llanrhaeadr had the ball in the Bangor box courtesy of an Iain Edmunds freekick but Chris Mullock was alert to the danger.
On 71 minutes Marc Williams got in on the action as he broke clear of the defence to make it six nil as the visitors tired on the wide Nantporth pitch. Again the goal was followed by a substitution as Sam Dool came on for midfield general Steven Hewitt.
With just under a quarter of an hour to go City made it seven nil as Alex Darlington completed his hatrick with a well placed chip from the edge of the box. again a susbstitution as young Alex Boss came on for Jake Phillips on the right.
A fourth goal of the afternoon for Alex Darlington as he crashed home from the edge of the box made it eight nil as a difficult afternoon for the visitors went from bad to worse.  There was still time though for one more goal as substitute Robbie Parry ran on goal and smashed the ball beyond the hard working Hayns to make the final score nine nil.
Credit to Llanrhaeadr whose spirit was good throughout and whose goalkeeper Jimmy Hayns remained defiant.
For Bangor the highest score of the season and a clean sheet to add, but the star of the day has to be Alex Darlington whose four goal haul is his best for the club.

Bangor scored twice in the second half to secure an away win at Penrhyncoch but suffered a serious injury in the process.
Centrehalf Anthony Stephens took a blow to the head and X Rays later revealed a broken jaw which will see the left footed defender sidelined for several weeks.
The long awaited arrival of centreback Jordan Piggott saw Andy Jones drop to the bench whilst the rest of the team had a settled look.
Penrhyn welcomed back goalkeeper Leigh Jenkins after he started the season with nearby Aberystwyth.
City had the ball in the back of the net inside the opening three minutes courtesy of Alex Darlington but an offside flag cut short the celebrations.
On ten minutes home goalkeeper Leigh Jenkins did well to keep out Alex Darlington's header. Two minutes later a fine through ball from Cledan Davies found CraigWilliams in on goal but Chris Mullock did well to deny him.
With a quarter of an hour gone Alex Darlington was through on goal but Josh Shaw pulled off a great last ditch tackle. Five minutes later Steven Hewitt was in the thick of the action with a corner which Anthony Stephens steered too close to goalkeeper Jenkins who then saved well from Yalany Baio after he ran on goal from Hewitt's short corner.
Midfielder Hewitt was in fine touch for Bangor with Yalany Baio also working hard as City pushed the home side back.
But just before the half hour Steff Davies headed over for Penrhyn before Les Davies latched onto Alex Darlington flick on but Sion James did enough to put him off. Ten minutes before the interval Marc Williams wriggled through on goal but again Jenkins saved well before Alex Darlington lifted the rebound over the crossbar.
As half time grew near a couple of half chances didn't quite fall for Penrhyncoch and at the whistle the blank scoreline probably just about suited the home side whose goalkeeper Jenkins had been the busier of the two.

Goalscorer Jake Phillips photo The Citizens Choice

HALF TIME 0-0
  No changes at the interval.
City now with forty five minutes to find the all important opener.
And they did not have too long to wait as the first goal arrived on 52 minutes. Steven Hewitt crossed, Les Davies flicked on and Marc Williams tapped home from close range.
Three minutes later it was two nil as Les Davies passed to Jake Phillips who fired low into the net - despite the best effort of goalkeeper Jenkins - to claim his first goal in a Bangor shirt.
On 66 minutes, after yellow cards for goalscorer Phillips and Luke Sherborn, a first change for Penrhyn as Liam Doherty came on for Josh Shaw. Two minutes later a close call for City as Antonio Corbisiero crossed to Liam Lewis but he could not find the target with his header. On 70 minutes a second change for the home side as Jon Evans came on for left winger Craig Williams.
When Penrhyn did press the three man Bangor defence looked up to the task with new signing Jordan Piggott settling in well alongside regulars Barnes & Stephens.
With fifteen minutes left Marc Williams went round Jenkins and shot on target but the glovesman recovered well to prevent a third goal. Two minutes later Robbie Parry came on for Alex Darlington in the blues attack.
City pressed for a third goal with Jake Phillips, Marc Williams and Phillips again going close but the home defence stood firm.
So a deserved two nil win for the blues on their Mid Wales travels and a clean sheet.
But then tempered by the unfortunate news that centreback Anthony Stephens, who had soldiered on after taking a blow to the face, had suffered a broken jaw.

Bangor eased past Mold in the first Welsh Cup meeting in more than seventy years.
Before the game got underway there was a minutes silence for popular blues supporter Dick Rigby who had died earlier in the week.
With Craig Harrison having resigned the day before Steve Vaughan jnr was in charge. He had to rule out Lee Owens who had followed Phil Baker out of club. City opted for a three man defence of Barnes, Jones and Stephens with Phillips (right) and Farleigh (left) as the wingbacks.
Attacking the Antelope End on a bright sunny afternoon City threatened through Marc Williams and won a couple of corners on the right which culminated in Les Davies directed a stooping header on target but too close to Holyoke. City won a third corner but on the quarterhour mark Mold scored.
Leading goalscorer Callum Freeman slid the ball to Terry Pughe who slotted home from the right. The Alex supporters celebrated noisely and City fans looked shocked.
But within minutes the roles were reversed as Steven Hewitt sent over a freekick from the left which bounced all the way through to Andy Jones to prod home from close range at the back post.  And four minutes later Bangor took the lead as Les Davies shot home from Jacob Farleigh's cross.
The game settled into a pattern whereby City enjoyed more possession but the Mold defence was well organised by Steve Watkin (wearing 18) although Sam Barnes had to be cool under pressure as Pughe threatened. For the visitors winger Henry Carver caught the eye on the Mold left.
Young blues marksman Sam Jones then crashed a shot against the crossbar but City could not capitalise on the goalmouith melee which resulted in a corner as Andy Jones shot was pushed over the bar. A fifth corner of the afternoon quickly followed which Watkin belted clear.
In the closing minutes a couple fo corner for Mold but not real danger to Chris Mullock's goal and as the whistle blew City led two one with every reason to feel optimistic about the second period.
Les Davies puts City ahead The Citizens Choice

HALF TIME 2-1
  No changes at the interval.
But a change to the scoreline within a minute as Jacob Farleigh carved the visitors defence open on the left to set up Les Davies who swept home from six yards for a three on lead.
Midfielder Steven Hewitt forced a save from Holyoke but on 54 minutes Mold halved the deficit as the impressive Callum Freeman ran clear on the right and beat Chris Mullock with a crisp low strike. Five minutes later Freeman fired on target again and City struggled to clear as the ball bounced around wildly in the six yard area.
On 61 minutes a first change for City as Alex Darlington came on for Sam Jones and moments later Marc Williams shot on target but the goalkeeepr gathered easily.
A couple more corners followed for City midway through the half with Jacob Farleigh causing problems on the attacking left.
On 71 minutes it was 4-2 for Bangor as Alex Darlington latched onto a rebound after Les Davies' initial effort was blocked. Three minutes later Joe Griffiths came on for Andy Watkin but seconds later Jacob Farleigh again unhinged the visitors defence but his low cross evaded the blue shirts.
On 79 minutes Danny Warren came on for Callum Lavell as Mold looked for a change of fortune.
Seven minutes left on the clock and Robbie Parry came on for Les Davies who had two goals and an assist to his name.
In the closing minutes Alex Darlington and substitute Parry went close but they could not change the scoreline, nor could Mold who had battled bravely but fairly from start to finiah.
So City into the hat for Monday's Second Round draw with a new manager likely to be in charge by the time the game is played.
Next game away at Penrhyncoch on Saturday.

Bangor threw away a two goal lead but bounced back to win this HuwsGray cuptie in extra time.
City rested Marc Williams, Les Davies and Robbie Parry and started with Andy Jones upfront alongside young Sam Jones. Elsewhere Phil Baker, Sam Barnes and Anthony Stephens formed a back three with Jacob Farleigh and Jake Phillips as wingbacks.
Attacking the social club end City pushed forward with Alex Darlington seeing his goalbound shot deflected before Jacob Farleigh cut in the from the right but Sam Kersh stopped his progress with a well timed challenge.
On seven minutes a Jake Phillips long throw found Andy Jones whose layoff invited a drive form Alex Darlington but he could not hit the target. Ten minutes later City had the lead as Jacob Farleigh crashed home from 25 yards with goalkeeper Scott Williams well beaten. Three minutes later veteran striker Ian Griffiths went close to an eqauliser.
Blues midfielder Steven Hewitt forced a good save from Williams then as Prestatyn pressed Chris Mullock punched clear and flattened his own defender Phil Baker in the process.
On the stroke of half time Jake Phillips sent a tempting through ball down the middle but the wind swept the ball away from Jacob Farleigh and into the arms of Williams.
So a one nil lead for City and a dominant display built around the midfield pairing of Steven Hewitt and Yalany Baio who held sway despite the best efforts of Alex Jones who caught the eye for the hosts.
Jacob Farleigh scored the opener - photo The Citizens Choice

HALF TIME 0-1
  No changes at the interval.
The home side went close to an equaliser inside five minutes as Ian Griffiths latched onto a headed clearnace but  blasted over the bar.
But on 53 minutes it was two nil to Bangor. Jacob Farleigh cut in the from the left, saw his shot saved and run to Sam Barnes who swept home from six yards for his fifth goal of the season. Young Sam Jones was working hard upfront but maybe trying too hard, nothing quite came off for him. He won a corner on the right which ran out to Jacob Farleigh whose shot was blocked.
On the hour a corner for Prestatyn - their fourth of the afternoon - dropped for Aaron White but he fired wide. Steven Hewitt and Alex Darlington went close for City before Prestatyn made the first change of the match on 70 minutes as Nathanial Hulme came on for Casey Faulkner. More positive intent from City as Yalany Baio fired off target and Andy Jones headed over.
But on 76 minutes an unlikely comeback got underway as Dave Hayes drilled home from the edge of the box from a half cleared Prestatyn corner. Immediately Macauley Taylor came on for Jack Hoult and on 82 minutes Alun Roberts replaced James Hay. It worked a treat as within a minute of the final change Alex Jones dived forwards to head home after substitute Taylor's shot looped up across goal.
The home side had appeals for a late penalty as the ball appeared to strike the arm of a Bangor defender, Steven Hewitt shot wide from distance, City won their six and seventh corners and Steven Hewitt had a goalbound shot blocked. Into added (injury) time Jacob Farleigh and Sam Jones had chances but in the end Referee Aron Wyn Jones blew for the end of the ninety and signalled the advent of extra time.
EXTRA TIME 2-2
The two sides had the briefest of breaks, drinks and huddles before play resumed.
Attacking the social club end once more Bangor went close as Sam Barnes headed on goal but Williams saved well. But the home side had a good opportunity to take the lead as Macauley Taylor teed up Aaron White who shot just wide of the upright.
Then on ten minutes young Sam Jones broke his duck with a goal scored in bizarre circumstances. He ran through from forty yards and netted past a static defence and puzzled goalkeeper as the linesman stood with offside flag raised. The goal stood with referee Jones ruling that a Prestatyn defender had headed the ball to Jones which rendered the offside invalid. Fair to say there were loud protests by the home bench led by foul mouthed manager Butcher.
With thirteen minutes on the clock Sam Dool came on for Alex Darlingon. Two minutes later the goal of the game decided proceedings. A cross from the right was cleared to the edge of the box where Sam Jones ran back, swivelled and crashed home with power and accuracy. An amazing strike and a real glimpse of the Anglesey youngster talent which has been shining bright for the U19s.
It stood at 4-2 to City at half time. Five minutes into the second period a yellow card for Jake Phillips for a trip on the right, then a missed opportunity by Sam Dool from close range.
With five minutes to go a last chance for Prestatyn, a freekick on the edge of the blues box. But after much deliberaton all Ian Griffiths could do was hit the wall and the ball was blasted clear.
The final whistle blew on an entertaining match and a deserved win for City against a spirited Prestatyn side, City now travel to Holyhead in the semi final.

Bangor continued their recent winning run with a narrow victory over near neighbours Conwy Borough at Nantporth on Friday night.
Before the game got underway there was a minutes silence for popular blues supporter "Huw Llefrith" who had died earlier in the week.
Once the action got underway the dangerous Corrig McGonigle fired a warning shot just wide from distance before Cory Williams also went close for the visitors.
Bangor chiefly unsettled the Conwy defence through Jake Phillips whose long throws caused problems but the first clear cut chance came just inside the twenty minute mark. The hard working Marc Williams stole possession before finding Robbie Parry who combined with Jacob Farleigh who crossed to Les Davies but he guided his header too close to Keighan Jones.
City showed more control now and Les Davies shot on target before Robbie Parry saw his curler arch just wide of the post.
But just before the half hour mark McGonigle again caused problems with a goalbound shot that Les Davies had to clear off the line. The former Bangor youngster has developed year on year since scoring a hundred goals in a season and seems destined for bigger things.
Bangor saw another chance come and go as Andy Jones' looping header cleared the crossbar, then Robbie Parry and Jacob Farleigh combined once more to set up Marc Williams but Conwy captain Gerwyn Jones cleared off the line.
In the closing minutes as City pressed for the opener Jake Phillips and Steven Hewitt went close but neither could make the breakthrough and as Cheryl Foster blew for the interval the scoreline remained blank.
So slender deficit at the interval....

HALF TIME 0-0
   No changes at the interval.
The visitors were first to threaten as summer signing Lewis Clayton volleyed wide inside two minutes of the restart.
Both goalkeepers got into the action as Kieghan Jones did well to deny Jacob Farleigh before Chris Mullock was at full stretch to deny Corrig McGonigle whose left footed freekick seemed destined to nestle inside the lefthand post.
But on 58 minutes Bangor had the all important lead.
Jake Phillips crossed, Keighan Jones struggled and Robbie Parry found the back of the net to the delight of the blues faithful. Five minutes later the abrasive Lewis Clayton was shown the yellow card for a later challenge in midfield.
Two minutes later blues goalscorer Parry made way for Alex Darlington before Conwy sent on Bryan Roberts for midfielder Clayton.
Borough made way for a couple more changes but it was Bangor who went close through Marc Williams who latched onto a Jake Phillips delivery but failed to make proper contact.
And despite the odd nervous moment there was no change to the scoreline as City held on for a home win against Conwy.
Next game Prestatyn away in the cup in a fortnight..

Bangor eased to a three nil win at Clappers Lane on a mild, damp autumnal Gresford afternoon.
City opted for a back three with Phil Baker, Sam Barnes and Anthony Stephens central to a first clean sheet of the season.Certainly Stephens adds a gritty determination whether he plays centre or leftback.
The game had scarcely got underway than Bangor took the lead. Jake Phillips' long throw from the left resulted in a corner which he in turn crossed for Sam Barnes to nod home from close range.
Gresford responded with some pressure which midfielder Yalany Baio cleared three times. The home side pushed on again as Kieran Evans crossed but the burly MacCarter could not steer his header on target.
The two sides shared possession for much of the second half with MacCarter gain going close before Steven Hewitt saw his long range effort saved midway through the half. Hewitt and Baio were involved in a competetive duel with the little and large of the Gresford midfield, Josh Griffiths and Jack Chaloner.
Athletic leftback Nathan Williams was booked for a poor challenge on Jake Phillips who had raced forward from his right wingback berth.
But Gresford threatened again as Sam Molyneux headed wide before Kieran Evans cut in from the right but Sam Barnes and Phil Baker combined to block his goalbound effort.
With around ten minutes left a Gresford freekick was fired low on target by MacCarter but it was City who were to strike before the interval.
On 41 minutes Steven Hewitt gathered the ball and, urged to shoot by travelling blues, did just that to beat Ben Jones with the aid of a slight deflection. Two nil and a measure of comfort for Craig Harrison's men.
Before the interval there was a harsh yellow card for Yalany Baio for a tackle when, within the following two minutes, two similar challenges - one from each side - went unpunished.
Nonetheless a two nil lead at the interval as Referee Dave Wright blew for the break,.

HALF TIME 0-2
  No changea at the interval.
Could City see out the away win without conceding for the first clean sheet of the season?
The first action of the second period was a yellow card for Sam Molyneux for a crash into Sam Barnes on half way. Then a yellow card for Marc Williams for a similar challenge to Yalany Baio in the first half.
On the hour mark Gresford went close as Simon Smith fired goalwards but Chris Mullock pulled off a fine save. Next MacCarter again got his header in but once again just failed to hit the target.
Bangor pushed forward through Robbie Parry but he was denied by Ben Burrows last gasp intervention.
But on 64 minutes City had a third and it was Robbie Parry who ran clear to slide the ball low beyond Ben Jones and into the bottom left hand corner. Game over in many ways but the home side again showed fighting spirit to create chances. Chris Mullock pulled off another great close range save and then another to deny Simon Smith.
On 70 minutes the luckless MacCarter made way for Aeron Edwards before some four or five minutes later Tom Field replaced Yalany Baio as the combatative little midfielder seemed a likely candidate for a second yellow.
Sam Barnes did well to deny Nathan Williams and with some ten minutes left on the clock successive corners for the home side but no direct threat on Chris Mullock's goal.
With five minutes to go Jacob Farleigh replaced Lee Owens, City switched to a familiar back four with the Nantwich based flyer on the right wing.
And in the short amount of time remaining Farleigh slid an inviting ball to the right for Robbie Parry but his low shot arched wide of the far post and the danger passed.
Moments later the final whistle blew on a convincing three nil win for City, although Gresford could feel hard done by that they did not have at least a goal to show for their efforts. And that elusive clean sheet....

City marked their first ever CA Cup appearance with fine fightback to launch the new home kit and knock out plucky Gresford on Friday night.
A fightback made necessary though by some dreadful defending which saw the blues trail three one inside twenty five minutes.
Bangor started the stronger. On nine minutes Robbie Parry went close, three minutes later Marc Williams fired over from a freekick on the edge of the box.
And then on the fifteen minute mark the lead arrived through Steven Hewitt with his first of the season. But this sparked Gresford who exploited some very weak defending from the home rearguard.
On nineteen minutes former Runcorn striker Kieran Evans levelled the scores. A minute later Sam Molyneux put Athletic ahead as the blues defence dithered. Almost unbelievably things went from bad to much worse three minutes later as former Airbus midfielder Jack Chaloner made it three one.
On 26 minutes the fightback began as Marc Williams set up Les Davies who headed home his third of the season. Moments later Robbie Parry got the better of his fullback but Marc Williams sent his header at goalkeeper Ben Jones.
On 37 minutes Robbie Parry was shown the yellow card for a pull on a Gresford player but it was City who seemed the more likley to score. A minute before the interval a Bangor freekick on the edge of the box was crashed goalwards by Anthony Stephens but the wall stood firm and the chance went.
So slender deficit at the interval in this HuwsGary Cup tie.

HALF TIME 2-3
  No changes at the interval.
Bangor now with words of wisdom from manager Harrison ringing in their ears.
Early in the second half a minor altercation between Sam Barnes and Gresford centre forward Jordan MacCarter was quickly settled by referee James Walker.
On the hour mark City drew level as Sam Barnes headed home from a corner. Gresford won a corner of their own but Jake Phillips cleared.
Then on 62 mintes the goal of the night as Robbie Parry swept home beyond Gresford keeper Jones. City ahead for the first time since the opening quarter.
Gresford had loud appeals for a penalty waved away by Mr Walker and on 75 minutes the visitors made a change as Jon Collo came on for Jordan MacCarter. Bangor pressed for a fifth as Les Davies nodded down but Marc Williams fired off target. If Williams can be persuaded to stay upfront with there is very prospect of a good partnership.
Next a second change for Gresford as Will Roberts replaced Dean Bryan.
Midfielder Steven Hewitt released Lee Owens who in turn found Jacob Farleigh but his shot lacked any malice.
But it was Bangor who had the final say as young Jacob Farleigh netted his fourth goal of the season to make it five three and secure a place in the HuwsGray Cup draw.
A hard fought victory for Bangor, some poor defending but a spirited fightback and one which uniquely featured five individual goalscorers for City. Plenty to work on in training during the week amidst rumours of advanced moves to strengthen that brittle defence.
And the two clubs meet again in the league at Clappers Lane next Saturday.

Billed as a make or break match this was very much break, a slender defeat perhaps but one which all but ended City's chances of a rapid return to the WP.
As ever this season injuries ruled out defenders Andy Jones and Phil Baker, whilst Les Davies, Robbie Parry and Jacob Farleigh began on the bench.
The starting line up saw Sam Ashworth and Sam Barnes in central defence with Lee Owens across on the left and Jake Phillips at rightback.
But this counted for nothing inside two minutes as Airbus won a corner on the right which blues striker Marc Williams back headed into his own net for the worst possible start.
The home side seized the initiative a pushed Bangor back. It was on the twenty minute mark that City forced a corner of their own at the runway end. Tom Field delivered and loudly berated his team mates who made little effort to attack a high cross.
Airbus pushed City back once again and it took a brave block from centreback Sam Barnes to deny the home side a second goal. But on the half hour mark a second duly arrived as leading goalscorer Asa Hamilton headed home at the back post from a left wing cross.
Five minutes later a yellow card for Tom Field but more trouble for Bangor a minute later as young Sam Ashworth hobbled off injured. His replacement Anthony Stephens to make an injury delayed debut for City.
There was yellow card for Kristian Platt for a wild lunge on Yalany Baio who needed lengthy treament and a second card waved at someone else. It is fair to say that Referee Gray was pretty much out of his depth, weakly "assisted" by John Spender, but they were not to blame for Bangor's plight. The home side looked fitter, keener, stronger and quicker to the ball for most of the first half.
At half time Airbus deservedly led two nil with Dave Roberts scarcely having had a shot to save in the opening period.
Chris Mullock and Asa Hamilton compete for the ball

HALF TIME 2-0
One change at the interval as Les Davies replaced Sam Jones.
This was a strange move in that Big Les needs pace alongside him. Jones is quick and although he did not have much joy on the wing in the first half he might have been the perfect foil for the flick ons. There was also a change of shape for City with Tom Field dropping into a back three and Jake Phillips and Lee Owens pushing up the pitch. To be fair these changes did work to some extent.
Two more yellow cards for Airbus. Asa Hamilton and then Matty McGinn for a trip on half way as City look to break. On the hour mark a last man handball by Kristian Platt on half way might have merited more than a yellow, and made a nonesense of what looked like a first half booking.
On 65 minutes City halved the deficit. Jake Phillips crossed from the right and Lee Owens capitalised on some chaotic defending to prod home from close range for his first goal for the club.
Three minutes later, on 68, it was all square as Marc Williams shot from the edge of the box and beat Dave Roberts thanks to a big deflection from a desperate defender. Bangor were in the ascendancy for those few precious minutes and the result was in the balance. Lewis Buckley came on for James Hooper and two minutes later, on 70 minutes, Airbus regained the lead as a Leo Riley freekick was headed home by Steve Tomassen despite the best efforts of substitute Stephens on the goalline.
This was a much better second half display from Bangor but you have to say Airbus deserved the lead.
On 81 minutes Alex Darlington took over from Sam Dool and on 85 young Harvey Ellis came on for Asah Hamilton who had led the line well.
Young Ellis set up Leo Riley but his fifteen yard side footer went wide. Moments later Riley went into the book for a rugby style hand off, but he made contact with the chest and not face as some blue fanatics claimed! There was a last minute save from Chris Mullock as he somehow kept out a deflected freekick which looped up and looked for all the world like a fourth goal for Airbus.
Bangor improved substantially after the break, perhaps getting Les Davies on, also the change of shape. Certainly more urgency. But either way this defeat leaves Airbus seven points clear of Flint (in second) and eight clear of third place Bangor.

Bangor dropped two more points on Friday night against local rivals Holyhead.
Sam Barnes was fit enough to start in central defence but there was bad news further up the pitch as Les Davies was forced to miss out with an ankle injured suffered against Llandudno in midweek.
Bangor started on the front foot but could not put visiting goalkeeper Carl Jones under any real pressure.
But on nine minutes Holyhead showed them how it was done as Luke McGivern latched onto Tomos Clarke's long clearance to calmly lift the ball over Chris Mullock to stun the home crowd.
Five minutes later a chance for City as Marc Williams headed goalwards from Jake Phillips back post cross but Jones held his header comfortably. Next a yellow card for Robbie Parry for a late challenge.
Another chance on 25 minutes as Alex Darlington and Marc Williams combine to carve an opening for Steven Hewitt but he shot wide.
On the half hour Alex Darlington forced a mistake from goalkeeper Jones but Jake Phillips could not fire into the gaping goal. Ten minutes before the break a foul on Alex Boss looked like a penalty but the referee awarded a freekick on the edge of the box which came to nothing other than a corner.
But three minutes before the break it was Holyhead who might have doubled their lead but Jamie Roberts dragged his shot wide. In the minutes remaining Alex Darlington and Yalany Baio went close for City but to no avail.
So at the interval a single goal deficit for City.

HALF TIME 0-1
Two changes at the interval as Sam Jones and Sam Dool replace Alex Boss and Robbie Parry.
Could City get back into the game and could the young substitutes make a telling contribution from the bench?
And after some sparring the answer to both was yes.
Sam Jones created an opening which Alex Darlington converted to level the scores on 59 minutes on the half volley. Minutes later a yellow card for blues midfielder Yalany Baio for a mistimed tackle.
Both sides won attacking freekicks. Chris Mullock caught a high cross from Holyhead before a visiting defender cleared off the line from a similar effort from Steven Hewitt.
On 72 minutes a change for Holyhead as young Harry Lewis replaced Kenleigh Owen. Moments later City thought they had the lead through Sam Jones but the "goal" was ruled out for a foul or handball.
On 75 minutes the experienced Tom Field replaced Yalany Baio and three minutes later City had a penalty. But the normally reliable Tom Field could not get the better of Holyhead glovesman Carl Jones whose save kept the scores level.
With eight minutes left to play Jamie McDaid made way for Harry Galeotti. A final chance in normal time came to Tom Field following some good build up play but Tom Field shot at Jones.
The visitors might have snatched a late winner when  Jamie Roberts released Corey Jones but the former blues youngster shot wide.
In the closing minutes Bangor won a couple more freekicks in dangerous positions but could not make the vital break through.
So a damaging home draw for City whose run of three straight wins has been eclipsed by two defeats and a draw. One of very few pluses an impressive second half display from Sam Jones who came on at the interval.

Bangor bowed out of the cursed League Cup against visitors Llandudno on Tuesday night.
With injuries influencing selection the blues defence included eighteen year old Sam Ashworth alongside Phil Baker and sixteen year old Kian Owen at leftback. Up front teenagers Alex Boss and Sam Jones also started. In contrast Llandudno, with the Pearson brothers, Kai Edwards and his younger siblings and former blue Mark Connolly had a more experienced look.
Bangor forged the first opening as Robbie Parry crossed but Alex Boss was ruled offside. Llandudno responded through Toby Jones who fired over from distance before young blue Sam Jones shot too close to Shaun Pearson.
The visitors created a couple more half chances as Kian Owen cleared from Toby Jones who also shot wide. But injury problems have dogged Bangor so far this season and after the half hour Phil Baker pulled up with injury. He has to be replaced with Les Davies slotting in alongside Sam Ashworth in the blues defence.
Young Ashworth is the grandson of Barry Ashworth who ranks as one of the finest Bangor defenders of the past 40+ years. No pressure there then!
As half time beckoned Davies did well to clear a dangerous effort from Kai Edwards. City pushed forward to win a corner which Alex Boss headed goalwards but Pearson was on hand to catch comfortably.
So at half time a blank scoreline and all to play for in the second half.

HALF TIME 0-0
No changes at the interval for Bangor but Llandudno replaced Ieuan Hewitt with Alun Webb.
City won an early corner which came to  nothing before substitute Webb forced a save from Andy Coughlin who was making his first start of the season.
Mark Connolly fired goalwards but Les Davies got in the way before he was injured in a collision with Toby Jones.
On 61 minutes John Owen replaced the former Neath striker and four minutes later, on 65, he scored the only goal of the evening. Blues goalkeeper Andy Coughlin appeared to have the ball but lost control under a dubious challenge from John Owen who prodded the lose ball home from close range.
With around twent y minutes to go Alex Darlington came on for Alex Boss and four minutes later former Holywell leftpeg Steve Thomas came on for Zebb Edwards. The visitors went close a couple of times through Leo Smith and then Alun Webb but with five minutes left it was Bangor who should have levelled things as Alex Darlington saw his effort hit the crossbar with Pearson beaten.
Former Connahs Quay defender Kai Edwards was shown the yellow card as he tried to quell the threat from Darlington. From the resulting freekick Robbie Parry's shot crashed into the Tudno wall and was cleared upfield.
Lee Owens did well to deny John Owen, blues winger Robbie Parry sliced wide from distance. Yalany Baio saw his shot deflected for a corner which caused some confusion but finally the whistle blew.
A slender defeat or win depending on your perspective but for City a performance for the younger players in particular to be proud and something for manager Craig Harrison to build on.
Holyhead at home on Friday night.

This was arguably the worst league result suffered by a Bangor side since the war. Beaten by rock bottom Denbigh in the second tier of Welsh football.
There were reasons but not excuses. Centrebacks Andy Jones and Sam Barnes were ruled out by injury, Phil Baker clearly hampered by his. Tom Field likewise at walking pace whilst Marc Williams was also injured. Both referee and pitch were patchy and poor although neither could be held to blame for this defeat.
All this meant a debut for sixteen year old Kian Owen at leftback and a central defence berth for Jake Phillips. Denbigh chose the moment to introduce the burly Alfons Fosu Mensah at centre forward.
On five minutes an underhit backpass from Phil Baker was guided goalwards by Roberts but Kian Jones rushed back to clear for a corner. Within a minute Sam Jones capitalised on some chaotic Bangor defending to drive home from ten yards.
The blues defence was visibly unsettled by the powerful Fosu Mensah, brother of theManchester United (Fulham) defender. He pushed out onto the right wing and enjoyed his substantial height and weight advantage over the debutant Owen. Inside the opening quarter Denbigh might easily have doubled their tally as the blues defence creaked and rocked.
Gradually City settled. Young Owen found his feet and City pushed forward through Jacob Farleigh whose cross was headed wide by Robbie Parry.
A first corner sent over by Tom Field was headed wide by Phil Baker as the threat grew.
But on 25 minutes Denbigh grabbed a second as Sam Jones' corner was headed home by Mark Roberts.
On 31 some Bangor pressure was rewarded with a penalty for handball quickly followed by a wild two footed lunge from Tony Davies which would also have yielded a spot kick had the whistle not already gone. The big Liverpudlian responded with a loud mouthed tirade of abuse at Referee Alex Livesey who was totally out of his depth. A yellow card was shown but even the weaker WP officials would have used red.
They might also have taken to task the home bench for berating the teenage assistant who did her best to stay calm. None of this was attractive or acceptable.
Nonetheless a penalty it was, spotted and converted by Tom Field to halve the deficit. City were more of a force now, Kian Owen showing some nice touches in defence and attack and Phil Baker battling bravely despite his obvious limitations from injury.
Minutes before the break a strong run from Sam Dool on the left ended with a cross to Les Davies but his header sliced wide. On the stroke of half time home midfielder Scott McHarrie was yellow carded for yet another foul but as the whistle blew for the interval it was his side who had reasons to feel cheerful.
Bangor manager Craig Harrison cut a frustrated figure as his side variously passed up shooting chances and lost possession to easily to the eager Denbigh tacklers.

HALF TIME 2-1
  No changes at the interval.
With some words of wisdom doubtless ringing in their ears Bangor immediately took the game to bottom placed Denbigh.
Two corners came early on and loud shouts for a penalty for handball were waved away. Former Bala centrehalf Tony Davies stood strong in the home defence as the pressure mounted.
On 51 minutes Davies could do nothing as the dangerous Jacob Farleigh cut in from the right to unleash a fierce drive beyond Vernon into the Denbigh net. City level at last and well on top.
In the following five minutes five more Bangor corners - back to back- pinned the red shirts back in the goalmouth after Steven Hewitt's rising drive had been  palmed over by Vernon.  Davies in the thick of the rearguard action was literally head and shoulders above anyone else at times. The Bangor support was noisy now and optimistic.
Then City lost possession in midfield by trying once again to dribble when a pass was on. Denbigh broke and won a throw in by the attacking right hand corner flag.  City made an attacking change before the restart as Alex Darlington replaced Sam Dool. The long throw came in, flicked on and crashed home left footed at the back post by Rhys Llwyd to put Denbigh ahead against the run of play. Terrible defending it has to be said.
From the restart Bangor forced their tenth corner of the evening then an eleventh which Les Davies headed wide. Bangor confidence had evaporated and the atmosphere increasingly gloom ridden.
Denbigh sent on Sam Tate for goalscorer Roberts before Tom Field shot over from just outside the box. The diminutive  Rhys Llwyd hit the crossbar with a dipping volley and was soon replaced by Sam Cartwright. Both players about to be replaced wandered to the far side of the pitch to waste time.
With ten minutes to go Sam Jones replaced Tom Field but the young striker had precious few chances to show his prowess in front of goal.  The closest City came to an equaliser was a Steven Hewitt freekick which flew wide from 25 yards.
And finally to the delight of the foul mouthed home bench, whose four incumbents stood and swore at everyone and anyone who crossed their path - and some who simply stood and watched - the final whistle blew.
Bangor have surrendered the initiative gained by those three straight wins. The would be promotion charge has stalled and unless some serious changes are made sooner rather than later another season in the CA beckons.

Bangor had the ball more than their Gwynedd rivals but Porthmadog went home happy after a hard fought two one win at Nantporth on Tuesday evening.
City gave a start to Phil Baker in place of Andy Jones at the heart of the defence but left re-signed midfielder Steven Hewitt on the bench. Alex Boss replaced Robbie Parry who left the field early at Guilsfield. Port included former blues favourite Sion Edwards with Shaun Cavanagh amongst the replacements.
Bangor started brightly with teenage wingers Alex Boss and Jacob Farleigh whose early runs both resulted in corners. Set pieces have been productive for City so far this season but midfielder Tom Field could not pick out one of the big men to good effect.
And on thirteen minutes they paid the price as Jay Gibbs latched onto a Sion Edwards cross to fire home left footed from twenty yards. Blues keeper Chris Mullock was rooted to the spot as the ball flew into his top right hand corner.
The Port supporters celebrated loud and long as the evening took on a cup tie feel for the visitors and their locally based players.
Goalkeeper Paul Pritchard did well to deny the pacey Boss before Chris Mullock was called upon to save from Julian Williams. Again City won corners and freekicks which Tom Field delivered but the usual suspects of Les Davies and Sam Barnes could not make contact.
Jacob Farleigh was a source of danger and one telling run produced a low cross which no one in blue could reach. For Porthmadog, by now enjoying a fair share of the game, there were chances for Jay Gibbs and Sion Edwards before Chris Mullock saved well from former blue Ifan Emlyn Jones.
So a single goal advantage for Porthmadog with the game still very much in the balance.

HALF TIME 0-1
  No changes at the interval
Within minutes City might have drawn level as Alex Boss' cross was headed goalwards by Alex Darlington but his effort flew just over. Moments later Alex Boss forced a good save from Paul Pritchard as Bangor pushed for the equaliser.
Ten minutes after the restart a first change as Joe Chaplin made way for Rob Evans. On 65 minutes recently resigned Steven Hewitt came on for City in place of young Alex Boss. The former Burnley & Chester midfielder immediately tested Pritchard with a couple of long range efforts but in fairness he was not undly extended by either.
On 68 minutes City had a mountain to climb as a defensive mistake let in Iwan Lewis whose shot was blocked by the out rushing Mullock but reboundede to trickle into the Bangor net. Two nil to the visitors and more loud celebrations.
Five minutes later it could have been worse for Bangor as Shaun Cavanagh found Ifan Emlyn but Chris Mullock did well to keep his clean strike out.
On 85 minutes, with time all but gone, City halved the deficit. Sam Dool crossed from the left and young Jacob Farleigh fired home to raise home hopes of a late revival.
But in those closing minutes Port might have grabbed a third through Julian Williams and the final whistle signalled noisy celebrations on and off the pitch for the Port players and supporters.
For Bangor a dose of reality perhaps and what to expect from derby matches which opposition players view as cup ties City as a scalp to be hunted.
If the blues had more possession they did not do enough with it to seriously trouble the veteran Pritchard who was well protected by the Port defence.
In context three wins from four is still a very positive start but all eyes on the next game.
  Denbigh away on Friday night.

Bangor made it three out of three with a three one win at Guilsfield to keep up their impressive start to the new campaign.
With Yalany Baio serving a one match ban and Marc Williams injured, Tom Field partnered Sam Dool in a new look midfield.
Guilsfield finished fourth last season and are again a force to be reckoned with, especially midfielder Chris Cathrall whose long throws unsettled the blues defence and created two headed opportunties which both flew over Chris Mullock's crossbar.
Bangor pushed The Gills back towards the car park end goal and forced three corners inside the opening quarter but with no real threat. A fourth corner came and went on twenty minutes at which point Robbie Parry and Jacon Farleigh swapped sides.
Now operating on the right Parry tormented young loanee James Parry who simply had no answers to his dribbling and close control. But on 27 minutes Guilsfield went close as Adam Jenkins fired across goal.
By the half hour Bangor showed greater composure and control with Tom Field and Sam Dool in charge in the middle of the park.
Left winger Jacon Farleigh found space infield before releasing Robbie Parry who breezed past the young fullback but dragged his right footer across goal.
Ten minutes before the interval Bangor had the lead. A Tom Field corner was headed home emphatically by Andy Jones from six yards.
Guilsfield nearly responded through Chris Cathrall but Chris Mullock grabbed his low shot at the second attempt.
Five minutes before the break and fifth corner after Les Davies' fierce strike was deflected over the bar. It was all Bangor in the closing stages with Robbie Parry prominent. But it was Sam Dool who nearly embarrassed debutant goalkeeper Jones with a lofted effort which the former Gresford glovesman let slip through his fingers and grabbed gratefully off the upright.
And that was about the final action as referee Walker blew for the break with City leading by that Andy Jones goal to nil.

HALF TIME 0-1
  No changes at the interval.
Bangor now playing away from the car park end. A tactical change by the home side saw left winger Jack Richards slot back into the defence and young James Parry move forward. Certainly the former Shrewsbury academy left footer held Robbie Parry to account better than the youngster had.
But it was Guilsfield who settled fastest with Chris Cathrall weaving his way through the blues ranks but shooting over from the edge of the box.
Bangor pushed for a second with Les Davies latching onto a rebound with a trademark left footed boom but Guilsfield stood their ground and a sixth corner followed which  was half cleared. A foul on Sam Dool gave City a freekick which Tom Field fired just over the crossbar.
Five minutes after the restart some neat approach play set up Tom Field who forced a decent save from Jones. Moments later a half chance for the home side as Sam Barnes blocked a shot which looped up to Steve Blenkinsop but his first timer flew high over.
On 57 minutes a first change as Jack Harris trotted on for eighteen year old Curtis Weetman who had worked hard in The Gills midfield. Bangor soon broke forward through Jacob Farleigh alongside Alex Darlington but the chance disappeared.
On 65 minutes Tom Field ran down the left and released Robbie Parry whos edrive forced a good save from Jones who was becoming busier and busier in the Guilsfield goal.
Alex Darlington was in the thick of the action as City forced corners seven and eight of the afternoon, the second creating a chance headed wide by goalscorer Andy Jones.
On 67 minutes it was two nil to Bangor as Jacob Farleigh created an opening which Robbie Parry smashed home left footed. Young Jamie Parry showed his attacking worth for the home side with a run and shot from the left which forced a good low save from Chris Mullock and yielded a corner which Les Davies cleared.
On 75 minutes James Parry made way for George Clifton but it was Bangor who seized the initiative and should have had a penalty. Sam Dool broke through midfield and Callum Bromley tripped him a yard inside the box. Referee Walker opted for a freekick which was a strange interpretation of the rules.
City sent on Alex Boss for man of the match Robbie Parry and a third goal promptly arrived timed at 79 minutes as Robbie James deflected the bal into his own net under pressure from Andy Jones. It was harsh on James who had defended bravely for The Gills but a deserved third goal for City.
Corners nine, ten and eleven arrived with the electric Boss quickly into the action with City seeming destined to add a fourth. In the final minute young Sam Jones came on for Alex Darlington
But it was Guilsfield who had the last word with Chris Cathrall who again weaved his way through and this time finished with a low drive beyond Mullock to make the final score three one. A deserved win, a competent performance and probably against the best opposition faced so far.

Bangor won at Ruthin on Tuesday night but were made to fight to the final whistle by the spirited Vale of Clwyd side.
With Tom Field unavailable Yalany Baio started in midfield and he was to be central to the last minute controvesy which inevitably involved the simply woeful Oswestry whistler Huw Jones.
With the wind at their backs City got off to the best possible start as Sam Barnes headed home Jake Phillips long throw inside two minutes.
And on eight minutes it was the same again as centrehalf Sam Barnes nodded home again from a fullback Phillips missile. Peter Hoy the second...
Bangor continued to press and on the quarter hour mark Robbie Parry twice went close from distance before he combined with Alex Darlington whose twenty yarder hit the post.
Next a 25th minute corner was played short to Robbie Parry who crossed for Les Davies to net at the back post but an offside flag cut short celebrations.
On the half hour Andy Jones guided a header goalwards from another Phillips long throw but Ryan Goldston gathered. Eight minutes before the interval Les Davies raced through with Robbie Parry but the former Llandudno winger strayed offside and the chance slipped away.
Towards the end of the half Ruthin broke upfield and won a corner which was cleared before Ilan Hughes fired high over from distance.
Before the interval Garmon Hafal made way for Will Owen.
Ruthin rallied a little towards the interval but overall Bangor could feel slightly disappointed that they had only two goals to show for their dominance on an understandably dry and bumpy surface.
Andy Jones moves in to head clear, Yalany Baio is held tight..

HALF TIME 0-2
  No changes at the interval.
The wind was now with Ruthin who seemed to grow in confidence and certainly had more of the ball.
Five minutes after the restart former Bala Town youngster Ryan Jones shot on target but Chris Mullock saved well. Two minutes later Bangor right winger Jacob Farleigh fired over from a tight angle on the right as City looked for a decisive third goal.
Just before the hour a second change for the home side as last season's top scorer Llyr Morris came on for Gwydion Ifan.
Moments later Yalany Baio shot wide from distance and substitute Morris earned a yellow card for a foul on Jake Phillips as he cleared upfield.
The feeling that Ruthin were coming into the game seemed to grow amongst the City fans. Manager Craig Harrison sent on Sam Dool for Marc Williams on 72 minutes and five mins later Alex Boss replaced Jacob Farleigh.
But on 79 minutes Llyr Morris netted from close range to set up an anxious closing quarter hour for the 150+ Bangor fans pitchside.
By now Bangor had settled firmly into a 4-5-1 formation that left Les Davies isolated upfront and gave the home side too much room to play out.
Seven minutes from time a terrible wild challenge by lanky Lewys Turner on right winger Alex Boss should have seen him sent for an early shower but it was yellow courtesy of Mr Jones and a Bangor freekick. Minutes later Alex Darlington had the ball in net but the builky linesman flagged and smiled as he had when Boss had been flattened.
Ruthin won a couple of corners but City cleared the danger. Then a minute from time controvesy as Yalany Baio clearly tripped a breaking Ruthin striker and was duly yellow carded. The offended Town player pushed Baio over and was yellow carded for violent conduct. Then Mr Jones got round to showing the plastic to Baio and promptly did so twice to send him from the pitch.
Manager Harrison responded by sending on Phil Baker for Alex Darlington and after four minutes of added time the whistle blew on a hard fought win for City and yet another charmless display from the former Welsh Premier official.

Bangor began their CA campaign with a five goal defeat of Buckely Town.
And they did do despite the visitors enoying sustained spells of possession and causing some awkward moments for the makeshift blues defence. Makeshift in that Phil Baker and Anthony Stephens were both out injured. And with a new goalkeeper Chris Mullock in place of Andy Coughlin.
A crowd of just over 400 assembled at an overcast Nantporth and saw new manager Craig Harrison's new charges sweep the opposition aside in a destructive opening fifteen minutes at The Antelope End.
Bangor went ahead on four minutes as Alex Darlington crashed home after the Buckley defence had blocked Marc Williams' initial goal bound effort.
Three minutes later it was two nil as Les Davies headed home Jacob Farleigh's cross from the right.
Lively Buckley won a couple of corners which culminated in booming a clearance from homecoming king Les Davies, but on thirteen minutes it was three nil and effectively game over.
City won a freekick on the left, Tom Field curled the ball goalwards and despite the best efforts of Chris Roberts the ball bounced through into the back of the Buckley net.
  Game over?
If so no one told Buckley who saw both central midfielders, Phil Molyneux and Aled Bellis, yellow carded for fouls as they fought manfully to get a toehold in the game. Which they did.
The young Globe Way side pushed City back, tested the new look defence, but did not force Mullock into real action often enough.
With chances missed at one end inevitably perhaps a fourth goal came at the other on 37 minutes.
The impressive Les Davies combined with Alex Darlington who ran at goal to lift the ball over stand in goalkeeper Thompson from the edge of the box. First choice glovesman Makaruk was unavailable.
And that is how the scoreline stood as young Aaron Jones blew for the interval with the home win pretty much in the bag.
  So far so good.
Les Davies & Chris Roberts (above) and Les Davies & Alex Darlington celebrate four nil (right)

HALF TIME 4-0
  No changes at the interval
But Buckley came out breathing fire and pushed City back, initially from Shaun Tinsley whose clean strike forced a decent save from Chris Mullock.
On 53 minutes the visitors grabbed the goal they deserved as Keiron Moore netted from close range after some shoddy home defending.
Bangor were on the back foot now as former Ellesmere Rangers centre forward Ryan Jones went close and Buckley capitalised on what looked like a one paced blues defence. Right winger Aron Williams unsettled the Bangor back four and chances came but went unpunished.
Tinsley had another clean strike pushed away by Mullock before on the hour mark manager Craig Harrison responded with a double change. On came Alex Boss and Yalany Baio for Robbie Parry and Alex Darlington. It could not have worked better or sooner.
Immediately the spring heeled Boss charged down the right and was crudely stopped close to the corner flag. He has pace to burn.
A freekick hung high by Tom Field found the head of  Les Davies for a five one lead on 62 minutes. Two goals on his home return for the fit looking local favourite.
Buckley responded with a triple change on 65 minutes as Callum Humphries, Lewis Cunliffe and Jake Roberts came on for Chris Roberts, Shaun Tinsley and Phil Molyneux. Former blues favourite Roberts in particular deserved a fine ovation from the Bangor faithful.
With the contest decided there was one final change for Bangor on 73 minutes as Sam Dool replaced Marc Williams. In fairness Baio and Dool gave City more control in midfield alongside the assertive Field.
Impressive leftback Dylan Roberts sent a long range effort on target but Mullock was up to the task.
Time ran out and the final whistle blew on a clear win for Bangor, three points to get the season off to the best possible start.
Defensive frailities perhaps but with Phil Baker approaching fitness and match practice under their belts there are clear grounds for optimism.
Ruthin away next on Tuesday night.

FINAL SCORE 5-1

Pre Season 2018-19 4th August 2018
Hyde United 3 v 0 Bangor City

Bangor crashed to another worrying defeat at Hyde on Saturday afternoon.
The blues line up was again missing key players with the season opener just a week away.
Hyde took the lead on 25 minutes as City failed to clear a high cross and Ross Daly mishit the ball home from eight yards. Goalkeeper Coughlin claimed he was fouled by a United player backing into him and on another day the referee might have agreed.
The interval score was one nil.
Half Time 1 v 0

The second half was aproaching the hour mark as Hyde doubled their lead.
A deep diagonal across the blues box was superbly controlled on the right for Tom Pratt to slide home calmly from around ten yards out.
And fifteen minutes later it was three nil as Dave Brown ran at the heart of the blues defence to see his shot balloon up off a City defender and loop over the hapless Coughlin.

Pre Season 2018-19 24th July 2018
  Colwyn Bay 4 v 1 Bangor City

Bangor crashed to another heavy defeat at Colwyn Bay on Tuesday night.
City fielded a mix and match side of first teamers, youngsters and trialists and ended up on the wrong end of the scoreline. Yet they started well enough an forged enough chances in the opening twenty minutes to have taken the lead.
But a failure to take those early opportunities came back to haunt them midway through the half as Danny Bartle latched onto Craig Pritchard's pass to beat Andy Coughlin for a one nil lead.
Seven minutes before the break Louis Barnes sent a long range freekick beyond Coughlin to double the advantage.
And that was how it stood at half time with the home side two nil to the good.
Half Time 2 v 0

The second half got off to a better start for City as Alex Boss controlled a long diagonal from the right to race in an beat goalkeeper Kris Leigh at hsi near post.
City created chances but could not take them and on 78 minutes Colwyn Bay got a third as A Trialist netted from a Louis Barnes assist. (Louis is the brother of City defender Sam Barnes).
And four or five minutes later it was four one as Ashley Ruane completed the scoring.

Pre Season 2018-19 21st July 2018
Isle of Man FA 4 v 0 Bangor City

Bangor crashed to a heavy defeat - their first of pre season - at Douglas on Saturday.
With some players unable to travel due to other commitments there were a number of changes to the Wrexham starting eleven.
Youngsters Leon Jones and Kian Owen were involved in a defence which also featured Spanish trialist Arnau Miro Andreu.
And after six minutes the new look defence was breached by Frank Jones who capitalised on some confusion from a corner kick for the hosts.
The second goal came three minutes before the interval from Lee Gale to leave the half time score two  nil to The Isle of Man FA.
Half Time 2 v 0

Worst was to come on 51 minutes as Stephen Whiteley put the Island side three nil up.
The final strike on 81 minutes was a second of the game from Ellan Vannin captain Frank Jones to leave a disjointed blues side on the wrong end of the four nil scoreline.

Pre Season 2018-19 17th July 2018
  Bangor City 2 v 2 Wrexham

Bangor and Wrexham fought on a two all draw as both gained further match practise towards next season.
City started brightly with Jacob Farleigh fired over but on twenty minutes the visitors took the lead.
A calm finish from Chris Holroyd who beat Harry Pickering after he broke through the blues defence.
But three minutes later the scores were level.
City midfielder Yalany Baio was fouled in the box and Tom Field stepped up to convert the penalty,
On the half hour Wright went close for the National League side and before the break Yalany Baio was fouled once more, but this time outside the box and Tom Field sent his long range effort over the bar.
So one all at the interval.
Half Time 0 v 0
One change by Bangor at the break as Danny Murphy came on for Phil Baker in the blues defence. The visitors made half a dozen changes to their starting line up.
Wrexham looked to gain the advantage and Harry Pickering had to deny Fondop, Deverdics and Jennings in quick succession.
Problems for City next as Yalany Baio reacted angrily and threw the ball in the face of Fondop. Referee Lee Evans sent the fiesty midfielder off the field but allowed him to be replaced, Alex Darlington taking the field against his old club.
On the hour mark Luke Griffiths replaced Tom Field in the Bangor frontline and five minutes later City had the lead for the first time as Alex Darlington struck on the counter.
Both sides continued to ring the changes and eight minutes from time it worked for the visitors as Mike Fondop headed home to level the scores.
And that was how it ended up with both sides happy with another ninety minutes and honours even at the end of the action.

Pre Season 2018-19 13th July 2018
  Brickfield 1 v 3 Bangor City

Bangor ran out comfortable winners after falling behind on five minutes at Brickfield on Friday night.
But the early spoils went to Brickfield who took the lead through a goal credited to A Trialist who netted from close range.
City settled to play football on the understandably dry pitch with Tom Field getting a grip in midfield and Robbie Parry threatening on the left wing. Gradually home goalkeeper Mike Platt was called into the action to deny Field from a freekick and then catch a number of high crosses.
On 21 minutes Les Davies looked to have lobbed City into the lead but somehow the ball lept up onto the woodwork and refused to go in.
Then on 35 minutes Davies turned provider with an inviting pass to Robbie Parry who netted from in front of goal to level the scores.
To be fair as much as City had controlled possession it was the home side who forced Pickering into the action in the closing minutes.
The home defence well marshalled by Michael Johnston stood firm and former Caernarfon glovesman Platt was well protected.
Half Time 0 v 0

Several changes at the interval as Sam Barnes and Dan Murphy replaced centrebacks Baker & Jones, Jacob Farleigh came on for Lee Owens (Jake Phillips moved to rightback) and Yalany Baio replaced Dool.
Right winger Farley caught the eye with his work rate and decisive running, his early second half effort crashed against the crossbar with Platt well beaten.
As Bangor pressed for the lead Sam Barnes, Jacob Farleigh and Alex Darlington went close before on 70 minutes midfielder Yalany Baio crashed the ball into the roof of the net.
Local youngster Sam Jones replaced Les Davies before on 75 minutes it was 3-1 as Jacob Farley kept up his goal a game record in pre season so far.
Leftback Kian Owen came on for Maguire as the changes became too often to note.
The home side were still a threat and Jake Phillips did exceptionally when to clear off his goalline when a goal seemed inevitable.
So a second win on the road for the revamped blues and an enjoyable evening in the shadow of Clywedog school.

The Tommy Jones Trophy 9th July 2018
Pwllheli 0 v 2 Bangor City

Photo above with thanks to Phil Stead
Bangor kicked off their pre-season - and the Craig Harrison era - with a win at Pwllheli on Monday night.
And in doing so won The Tommy Jones Trophy, a competition which celebrates the former Wales and Everton defender who managed both sides with distinction.
And as both goals were scored by young trialists there was something to ponder for the new blues manager.
A good crowd filled The Recreation Ground on another warm evening as City fielded a line up berefit of several summer signings. Nothing unusual about that with holidays and work commitments the usual causes. Local younster Kian Jones was one to benefit as he started at leftback.
With a third trialist, Andy Coughlin, in goal Bangor took the early initiative with Les Davies prominent on his return to a blue shirt. Midway through the half Big Les had the ball in the net but an offside flag cut short celebrations.
Then right winger Jacob Farleigh saw his goalbound effort denied by Gethin Roberts who enjoyed a fine evening in the Pwllheli goal.
On the half hour mark Les Davies went close before the home side threatened with a close range effort that went narrowly wide. Minutes later last season's Bangor U19s striker Jake Jones ran on goal but Andy Jones did well to race across and clear
The closing action saw Roberts saved comfortably from Yalany Baio and moments later the half time whistle blew.
Half Time 0 v 0
The only change at the interval was the introduction of Alex Boss for Alex Darlington.
Boss is light and very quick, his pace soon started to unsettle the home defence.
But three minutes after the restart it was Nantwich based Jacob Farleigh who gace City the lead from ten yards. Ten minutes after the restart a foul on Yalany Baio yielded a freekick which Tom Field crashed over
That heralded a triple substitution as Sam Jones, Gethin Thomas and Sam Ashworth came on for Les Davies, Yalany Baio and Tom Field.
A foul on boss led to another freekick which Sam Barnes connected with but again Roberts did well to keep out.
On 65 minutes two more changes as centrebacks Ben Williams and Louis McFarlane came on for Andy Jones and Sam Barnes.
Some end to end play followed before on 81 minutes Elliott Fenton doubled the lead after a great run by Alex Boss.
A minute later Sam Ashworth's long range effort crashed against the bar and although Alex Boss tapped the ball home the offside flag again cut short celebrations.
So two nil for Bangor, an enjoyable game for the large crowd gathered in the sun and the first stage of the pre season schedule underway.
Also good to see so many of the academy youngsters involved for City.
