![]() ![]() The choice of Parc Y Scarlets had heads shaking but Bangor fans turned up in numbers and made themselves heard. Yet their voices dropped in the opening minutes when Les Davies suffered a serious knee injury but - as you might expect - came back on the field to lead the blues attack. After Kieran Killackey and Sion Edwards went close City thought they had a goal on twenty minutes but Christian Seargant's effort was ruled out by Mr Huw Jones for a foul on goalkeeper Roberts. Would this prove costly? Rob Evans hit the post and Chris Venables headed wide as Aber pressed for an opener. On 44 minutes a Marc Limbert freekick found big Les Davies who rose highest to head over former blues goalkeeper Dave Roberts to give City a one nil interval lead, thanks in no small part to Dave Swanicks superb block on Geoff Kellaway's rising shot. Four minutes after the restart Bangor doubled their advantage. Wounded or not Les Davies crossed and midfielder Christian Seargeant netted for the second Welsh Cup Final in a row. Marc Limbert crossed from wide out but Jamie Brewerton fired over as City sought a third. Five minutes later Aber sent on sixteen year old striker Tom Bradshaw in place of former Caerws marksman Graham Evans but the young gun could not change the course of events. On the hour Aneurin Thomas headed over from a deep cross and the pacey if inconsistent Kellaway remained a theat. Bangor had to withstand a final onslaught which saw giant defender Aneurin Thomas pushed upfront but Jamie Brewerton as ever up for the battle stood strong alongside Michael Johnston and the match - and the cup - was won! |
