Rhydymwyn History & Honours

Rhydymwyn FC was founded in 1911 and in those early days played in the Halkyn and Clwyd Leagues.   It was some eighty years later, in the 1990s that the club looked to step up the ladder and joined the Welsh Alliance League in 1990.   In 1993 Rhydymwyn won the Alves Cup.   Rhydymwyn were first promoted to the Cymru Alliance in 1995 after winning the Welsh Alliance League. In their first season at the new level they finished fifth, went on better next time around and in 1998 won the Alliance but did not have the ground facilities to secure promotion to the League of Wales.    At the end of the 1999-2000 season they opted for relegation despite finishing eighth and joined the more localised Clwyd League which they won at the first attempt and returned to the Welsh Alliance in 2001. After nine seasons in that league Rhydymwyn were duly returned to the Cymru Alliance as champions of the WA.   Sadly though - in a rare season where all three bottom placed clubs are relegated - Rhydymwyn dropped into to the Welsh National League at the end of that 2010-11 season but once more bounced back a year later as runners up to Cefn United whose ground was not up to CA standards.   During the summer of 2012 new manager Danny Seamarks was appointed to guide the club to Cymru Alliance safety.

Manager: Danny Seamarks

Danny was appointed manager during the summer of 2012.   An experienced player with a number of local clubs, he has previously played for Holywell Town, Llandudno, Rhydymwyn and Mold Alexandra.    During an extended spell with Mold he graduated from player to manager and impressed on a tight budget with the Alyn Park club.

Sam Roberts	A tall commanding centrehalf Sam is in his third season with Rhydymwyn.   Previous clubs include Mold Juniors, Mold Alexandra and Buckley Town. Dob 14 07 1987
Peter Dawson	Centre back Peter was playing in the Denbigh summer league during the close season but joined Rhydymwyn for the 2014-15 campaign as manager Danny Seamarks continued his policy of sifting lower leagues for hidden gems. Dob 13 10 1993
Leon Pickford	A versatile defender Leon can play at full back or in central defence.   In his first season with Rhydymwyn having previously played for local rivals Halkyn United and at youth and reserve team level with Connahs Quay. Also Flint Town United. Dob 00 00 1900
Harry Murray	A promising young defender in his first full season in the Cymru Aliance with Rhydymwyn for whom he signed in September 2014. Dob 10 10 1995

Owen Williams	A pacey midfielder Owen can play in central or wide positions.   Joined Rhydymwyn at the start of the 2013-14 season having previously played for Chester and more recently Castell Alyn Colts. Dob 00 00 1900
Jack Heppleston	A talented young midfielder Jack joined Rhydymwyn from local rivals Halkyn United in October 2014.   He began his career on the Flint Town United academy. Dob 11 05 1995

Chris Guy	A left footed defender who can also play in midfield, Chris also played for Mold Alexandra and before that Connahs Quay Nomads as a youngster. Dob 06 10 1987
Dave Bryan	Defender who can play anywhere across the back four, Dave has previously played for Mold Alexandra, Mynydd Isa and Rhydymwyn. Dob 15 04 1988
Rob Shaw	Leftback Rob suffered a serious leg injury which kept him out of the game for a season but is now back to full fitness. His previous clubs include Connahs Quay Town and Mold Alexandra, and as youngster Connahs Quay Nomads. Dob 06 03 1988

Darren Pritchard	Former Bangor City winger who impressed as a teenager in the LoW.  Darren has since made Cymru Alliance appearances for Mold Alex and Llangefni Town.     Plays as a creative midfielder and is able to bring his experience to bear on the match. Dob 08 07 1976
Wes Brereton	Tall, attacking midfielder dangerous when running the ball from deep into the opposition half, previously with Mold Town and Holywell Town. Wes rejoined Mold Alexadra from then Cymru Alliance rivals Bala Town in January 2009 but moved on to Buckley during the summer of 2009. Dob 04 04 1983
George Baxter	A dimunitve striker or attack minded midfielder George joined Rhydymwyn from Connahs Quay in March 2013.   His progress through the Nomads academy had culminated in a first team debut in The Welsh Cup against UWIC having also played for Shotton Steel Juniors. Dob 17 02 1994

Dave Gleave	Dave has been hampered through his career by ill luck with injuries.   His previous clubs include local  sides Mold Alexandra, Sealand Leisure and Mynydd Isa as well as Guilsfield and Welshpool Town in Mid Wales. Dob 21 08 1986

Jay Ralphs	A winger or striker Jay joined Rhydymwyn during the summer of 2013 from local rivals Mold Alexandra having spent a brief spell with Southport. Dob 22 08 1988
Gary Tebble	A Wrexham born striker who came through the Cefn Druids academy Gary's previous clubs include Mold Alexandra. Dob 29 03 1989
Gary McConnell	Striker signed from Cymru Alliance rivals Penycae during the summer of 2013.   His previous clubs include Airbus, with whom he made a dozen Welsh Premier appearances, Buckley Town and Hawarden Rangers. Dob 04 01 1985
Terry Pughe	A pacey winger, Terry joined has previously played locally for Buckley Town and Mold Alexandra. Dob 01 06 1988
