Bangor City 5 v 0 Prestatyn WP Under 19 League

  Five Star City Seal Second

Welsh Premier U19 League
Bangor City 5 v 0 Prestatyn Town

Bangor thrashed visitors Prestatyn to make sure of second place in the Welsh Premier U19 league at Nantporth on Thursday night.

And in all honesty it might easily have been a bigger winning margin. Inside three minutes Alwyn Roberts went close from 40 yards before on six minutes Caio Hywel fired home from outside the box.
Three minutes later Sean Cavanagh headed past the helpless 'Statyn goalkeeper to double the home advantage. On fifteen minutes the visiting glovesman did well to prevent Callum Davidson from netting a third but five minutes later the visitors won a freekick but this was fired well over Nick Bould's crossbar.
A possible third goal was eventually chalked off by the linesman's flag but three minutes before the interval it was 3-0 as Callum Davidson fired home. A heavy challenge on Caio Hywel went unpunished in the lengthy added time but there was no further scoring.
Half time Bangor City 3 v 0 Prestatyn Town
Around the hour mark City made a couple of changes with Tomos Lewis on for Alwyn Roberts and then Connor Roberts for Caio Hywel. Then Ben Owen came on for Sean Cavanagh.
Fifteen minutes from time City made it four nil as Sam Faulkner smashed home past the startled Prestatyn 'keeper.
In the final minute Dafydd Jones set up Callum Davidson for his second and the fifth of the evening and the scoring was complete.
An emphatic win for the young blues and a another high scoring win.

Bangor City 3 v 0 Newtown WP Under 19 League

  Warrington Hatrick Rattles Robins

Welsh Premier U19 League
Bangor City 3 v 0 Newtown

Bangor striker Phil Warrington was again amongst the goals at City's youngsters won at a canter at Nantporth.

The early chances fell to Bangor players with Corey Jones, who scored against The New Saints first team last week, going close from half way and Alwyn Roberts just failing to get a touch in front of goal from Jamie McDaid's cross.
Newtown might have opened the scoring but goalkeeper Connor Hughes denied the striker with the blues defenders unable to help.
Then Bangor scored twice with a similar move in as many minutes. First on the half hour Ieuan Lloyd crossed from the left for Phil Warrington to net from the edge of the box.
Then Roberts repeated the service for the freescoring Phil Warrington to get his second and put City two nil ahead.
Corey Jones then crossed but Warrington was denied his hatrick by the Newtown crossbar. It should have been three nil just before half time after Jamie McDaid was fouled for a Bangor penalty but the Robins keeper pulled off a a great double save from the Caernarfon marksman.
Half time Bangor City 2 v 0 Newtown
On the hour Bangor fashioned a clear chance but Alwyn Roberts was denied by the impressive Newtown goalkeeper.
Next the visitors had a clear chance but the young striker blasted wide.
The provider of the first two goals Ieuan Lloyd on the left again set up the chance for Phil Warrington who grabbed his hatrick.
There was nearly a fourth goal from the same combination but unfortunately the hatrick scorer could not quite get the decisive touch but Bangor were home as three nil winners.

Bangor City 5 v 0 Rhyl WP Under 19 League

  Five Star City Stun Rhyl

Welsh Premier U19 League
Bangor City 5 v 0 Rhyl

Bangor thrashed their counterparts from Belle Vue on a sunny evening at Nantporth.

And it got off to the best possible start with a goal inside the opening two minutes as Sam Faulkner fired home.
Within five minutes it was 2-0 as Craig Whelan, who netted before the young Lilywhites had time to settle or compose themselves.
  Within eleven mi
nutes of kick off the game was effectively over. Jamie McDaid crossed and laid off to Craig Whelan who netted confidently from  twenty yards for his second of the match.
A setback for City though after twenty minutes with Sam Faulkner forced off through injury and replaced by Dafydd  Jones.
The closest Rhyl came to threatening the Bangor goal was five minutes before the interval but Bould could watch the shot fly over.
Half time Bangor City 3 v 0 Rhyl
With one eye on forthcoming first team fixtures Jamie McDaid was withdrawn at half time and replaced by Sion Cavanagh who promptly fired City into a 4-0 lead.
Ten minutes after the restart Phil Warrington fired a low clean strike narrowly wide but City were in no mood to settle for four and Callum Davidson went close and with just over a quarter of an hour remaining a fifth duly arrived.
Substitute Dafydd Jones passed to Alwyn Roberts just inside the Rhyl box and he kept his cool to fire home and seal an emphatic victory for the young blues.

Bangor City 3 v 0 Conwy B WP Under 19 League

  Warrington at The Double Again!

Welsh Premier U19 League
Bangor City 3 v 0 Conwy Borough

Bangor secured a second successive 3-0 win on Monday night at Nantporth.

And for the second game in a row the main man was marksman Phil Warrington who struck twice for the young citizens.
City pressed from the start and from a first minute corner saw a header strike the Conwy crossbar but bounce to safety. Borough fought back with an effort of their own which led to a corner..
But two first half goals from Phil Warrington put Bangor two nil up before the interval.
The second half was evenly contested before a left footed thunderbolt from Callum Davidson smashed home to put Bangor three nil up and settle the scoring on a sunny evening at Nantporth.

Flint Town 0 v 3 Bangor City WP Under 19 League

  Warrington at The Double

Welsh Premier U19 League
Flint Town 0 v 3 Bangor City

  Bangor battled to a f
ine away win at sunny Flint on Sunday afternoon.
And they did so with first team squad regulars Iolo Hughes and Joe Culshaw in their ranks.
But they had to do it the hard way as a physical Flint side kept the scoreline blank after a bruising first half.
Five minutes after the restart City had the lead thanks to well taken goal from former Bolton Wanderes scholar Phil Warrington.
And on 62 minutes a debut goal from sixteen year old Shaun Cavanagh doubled the blues advantage.
On seventy minutes it was 3-0 and all over as Phil Warrington used his pace to charge through the tiring Flint defence and net his second goal of the game.
So a hard earned win for Bangor whose fine season continues with another three points to the total.

Welsh Premier U19 League
Aberystwyth Town 3 v 3 Bangor City

Despite having Corey Jones and John Littlemore sent o
ff Bangor's youngsters salvaged a draw at Park Avenue against Aberystwyth.
A youthful looking City side was bolstered by first team fringe players Corey Jones, Jamie McDaid and John Littlemore.
The blues took a seventh minute lead as Alwyn Roberts hit the target but inside the quarter hour mark a freekick yielded an equaliser by for the home side from Dan Bourne.
Then former Aiden Nyhus a former Liverpool schoolboy put the home side ahead from another freekick before Bangor's leading goalscorer John Littlemore equalised five minutes before half time but was soon sent off
before Aberystwyth went 3-2 up in added time at the end of the first half.
However the scoring was not over with and Callum Davidson crashed home from the right to earn City a share of the spoils. Despite having Corey Jones also red carded twelve minutes from time the young blues held out for a deserved point.

Bangor City 4 v 2 The New Saints

The afternoon after Bangor City first team lost at Park Hall, the under 19s gained a modicum of revenge at Nantporth.
A team featuring first team squad regulars Nick Bould, Iolo Hughes, Corey Jones, John Littlemore and Jamie McDaid beat their Park Hall counterparts by four goals to two.
The goalscoring heroes for Bangor were John Littlemore and Alwyn Roberts who both netted twice. The goalscorers for the Shropshire Lads were Wrexham based midfielder Ryan Kershaw and former Connahs Quay Nomad Ryan Edwards
Visitors TNS had midfielder Ryan Kershaw sent off for a second bookable offence midway through the second half.

  Bangor City 1 v 2 Connahs Quay

A slender defeat for the young blues against the visiting Nomads
Bangor went close in the opening minutes when Jamie McDaid was denied by first team "reserve" goalkeeper John Rushton but on fifteen minutes the visitors went ahead. A passing move from the back culminated in calm finish from Aran Williams.
City equalised on the half hour through Alwyn Roberts but in the closing minutes of the first half a cross from Ade Dobson eluded the blues defence and Sam Jones headed home.
So a 2-1 advantage to the Nomads at half time and despite both goalkeepers being called into the action in the second period there was no further scoring as the visitors won by that half time scoreline.

   WP Under 19 League
The New Saints 3 v 0 Bangor City

A three goal defeat was the story of this Sunday afternoon trip to Shropshire to face their Under 19 counterparts of The New Saints managed by Welsh International Steve  Evans.
The opening exchanges saw some anxiety in the blues defence with goalkeeper Nick Bould initially a little unsure of himself, but as the game went on the young stopper pulled off some fine saves and at times kept his side in the hunt.
Right winger Jamie McDaid had an early chance which hit John Littlemore who reacted quickly but unfortunately smashed his volley over the bar. But on 28 minutes home side had the lead as right back Dylan Jones met a cross from the left with a clean finish to leave Bould with no chance.
On 37 minutes it was two nil for The Saints when Ruabon based Taylor James fired home after a defensive mix up in the six yard area.
That was it for the first half with the interval score standing at

The New Saints 2 v 0 Bangor City

Fifteen minutes after the restart a double substitution for Bangor as rightback Ieuan Lloyd a
Jamie McDaid and Aaron Simms nd Deion Evans left the field in favour of Sam Faulkner and Phil Warrington.
Bangor's best moment of the second half followed when left winger Callum Davidson run through the home defence and sent a searing drive at Ryan Edkin's goal which seemed to skim the top of the crossbar.
A tall well balanced left footer, Davidson was the pick of the young blues on view at Park Hall although there was no lack of effort from the likes of Iolo Hughes, Craig Whelan and Corey Jones who worked hard to counter the midfield prompting of Ryan Kershaw who was outstanding for the home side.
And Nick Bould pulled off a couple of full length stops to deny Kershaw.
The third and final goal came four minutes from time when Liam Walker crossed from the right to provide Taylor James with a close range finish and his second of the afternoon at a damp Park Hall.
So a disappointing afternoon for the young blues who looked a bit heavy legged which was hardly surprising after the busy schedules of those who represented Wales in Scotland on Thursday - and those who played ninety minutes on the Saturday.

This was more like it from the young citizens who had lost last time out at Prestatyn.

The opening goal came on ten minutes when Craig Whelan netted and nine minutes later it was two nil thanks to former Bro Goronwy striker

.
After twenty minutes of relative calm Jamie McDaid made it 3-0 five minutes before the interval and that was the half time score.
Within a minute of the restart John Littlemore got his first, then ten minutes later John Littlemore made it five nil.  The home side rallied with a 64th minute strike from Llandudno Junction defender Dan Birtles but with twenty minutes left Talysarn based Phil Warrington made it six one to Bangor.
There was still time for leading goalscorer John Littlemore to complete his hatrick on 78 mins and then with eight minutes remaining Craig Whelan netted his second to round off the scoring at eight one to City.

  Connahs Quay 1 v 4 Bangor City

Playing away from home for the first time this season City faced a very tough trip to the Deeside Stadium to face the defending champions who were unbeaten so far this campaign.   <>
During  the opening exchanges City looked composed on the ball and their early pressure paid off after seven minutes when City were awarded a corner which Craig Whelan delivered with pinpoint accuracy and Corey Jones rising above the Connah`s Quay defence scored.  GAP Connah’s Quay Nomads 0 – 1 Bangor City.

City continued to play composed football and control the game but a lack of discipline in the City defence from a quick Nomad’s throw in allowed a cross to be delivered from the right hand side which was met by Lee Jones whose well taken goal levelled the scores.
GAP Connah’s Quay Nomads 1 – 1 Bangor City.

As the half progressed City again reasserted their control and forced several corners but didn’t manage to regain the advantage until the  fourtieth minute when John Littlemore collected the ball on the left hand side cut inside and scored from 30 yards to give City a half time lead.

PRE SEASON 2013-14

   Friday 26th July 2013
Treaddur Bay 2 v 4 Bangor City Pre Season Friendly

   Pre Season Friendly 2013
Treaddur Bay United 2 v 4 Bangor City

With a number of last seasons’s squad unavailable due to holidays and work commitments it was a youthful Reserves side including five sixteen year olds that took the field against reigning Gwynedd League Champions Trearddur Bay United.

John Littlemore opened the scoring for City turning well in the home penalty area to fire the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the goal, Trearddur Bay United 0 – 1 Bangor City, but was unfortunately forced out of the game seven minutes later with a thigh injury caused by a robust tackle.

On 22 minutes a deep corner wasn’t dealt with by City’s inexperienced defence and the home side were level Trearddur Bay United 1 – 1 Bangor City.

There then followed some sustained pressure from United as they sought to out muscle City’s youngsters but it was City who went ahead on 35 minutes when, after Peter Bould was brought down in the home penalty area, Callum Davidson calmly converted the resultant spot kick Trearddur Bay United 1 – 2 Bangor City and so the score remained at half time.

In the second half City’s superior fitness became evident as United visibly tired in the heat and it was no surprise when on 70 minutes, after some good build up play, City increased their lead when Connor Roberts scored Trearddur Bay United 1 – 3 Bangor City.

On 80 minutes City made the game safe when Connor Roberts scored his second goal of the game after showing some quick footwork in the United box to make it  Trearddur Bay United 1 – 4 Bangor City

With the game won City’s youngsters relaxed a little and United reduced the deficit on 82 minutes on the counter attack, as City were caught short defensively, Ian Williams hit a fine strike into the roof of the City net.

To make the Full Time Score Trearddur Bay United 2 – 4 Bangor City
